  1. They still need to amend the rule to allow our teams to travel outside of the 300-mile ban. Most schools want a home and home contract. One-way contracts are difficult.

  2. We don’t have the final contestants determined quite yet. But we have sufficiently narrowed the field to start a discussion. First order of business: Congratulations to Bill Vinovich, selected by the League to wear the white hat. Dependable, unflappable, veteran crew chief. Great choice.

  3. I could see CG scheduling a long-distance road game for last week of season now that they moved the Cathedral game up. That week falls during their fall break so traveling to a Friday night game would not be an issue.

  4. Thanks for the Tag @HoopsCoach sorry not on much when school El ED PE is up and running, but with e learning today I popped in @jets yes as @Punttheball mentioned along with Hoops Coach: That is the combo, ST. JOE has been a slow decline since closing, however count day 2022, we had a tremendous influx of transient families, families came into town, working fields and etc, and there was like 30 some HS age kids, Sept our count was 528, by Xmas we were under 500 and they all disappeared. They had migrant busses parked an interstate hotel that was occupied for months, had Taco Truck (VERY GOOD MIND YOU) parked on site for them, first time I had ever seen this. Hasn't happened since. But yes, that Is what pushed us up to 3a for 2 years where we played in that class with less than 470 kids in the last 2 years. So it goes

  5. Well, just for starters, we wouldn’t have had a chance to see IMG under the old rule.

  6. I am very connected as a former player, parent of a player, and having coaching experience in the feeder levels. As far as kids transferring out, Parents are tired of off field issues with other students and administrators. Tired of no support or communication. Tired of supposed gang activity and guns in the parking lot. a whole host of things that has nothing to do with the program. Not winning has a way of bringing out excuses in my opinion. As far as kids not playing, I think Not winning much since 2001 and the population shift has a lot to do with it. More kids are interested in playing soccer. As for what Coach Heck can do to fix it. #1 would have to be to get the Community AND School corporation behind him. Get out and meet people and share his vision. #2 would be to get the school corporation to make an effort to hire assistant coaches that are teachers also. I know this is tough, but they need more coaches in the buildings at all levels. #3 He's gotta figure out a way to reach the kids that don't love the sport, but could be good at it. The kids that want to play football for the love of the game are the only ones that are playing at the moment. #4 He has to win. Winning fixes everything.

  7. I know nothing of the side line reports and what that entails. Yes, Coach Henk is going to have to get a new staff in place, Hopefully they hire a bunch of teachers who also coach. Wogs guys were all loyal to him and resigned the same time he did, plus a couple of the old school Goshen guys that've been a part of the staff for both Coach Park and Wogs have left.

  9. I've not heard any specifics on the press box but it looks like it was also approved and was definitely due to be replaced. The stands themselves seem to be in good shape still. I believe they were put in in the early 90's. Could use a good power wash though!

  10. There is a senior football player at Northwestern High School who was in a very bad car wreck. He's been in intensive care for over two weeks at this point. I'm not sure if we are allowed to share GoFundMes on here, but I simply wanted to spread the word. Please give your thoughts & prayers to him and his family. https://gofund.me/d8a7eba9

  11. Different schools probably do it for different reasons. For the elite schools playing on ESPN or FoxSports, it’s about money and exposure (which also translates to money), I would guess. I believe many schools do it to provide the students with a great experience as a part of their education. A field trip, if you will.

  12. I think they found out they were at the wrong central and moved to Adams Central. In all seriousness, I think it was a large migrant worker population that was added to the schools ADM in the fall of the count year.
