  6. The most notable result over the weekend to me was Miami Central beating IMG Academy 20-14. I know Miami Central is a powerhouse but I was shocked by that score. IMG hadn't lost to an in-state opponent for a long time. I really hope the starting QB for Duncanville is OK. He went down late in the 4th quarter and was holding his knee and then couldn't put any weight on it. Best wishes for him on a speedy recovery. Cincinnati Moeller put up an impressive performance against a Louisville Trinity team that beat Carmel the week before. Moeller could be on a collision course with St. Edward for the Division I state title game in Ohio.

  8. Projected winners: Memorial Mater Dei Reitz Castle North
  9. I think the 5A state title game at Lucas Oil will be Merrillville vs. Whiteland. The size of Whiteland's linemen will give an undersized Castle team a lot of problems.
  10. Bedford North Lawrence Floyd Central New Albany Columbus East
  11. Sectional 2 is easily the most balanced and unpredictable sectional in the state. It's the only sectional in the state where any team can beat any of the other teams in it.

  14. Great response by Whiteland last night to beat LN and help rally their community after Thursday's events. They look like the clear favorites on the south side of the bracket to get to the 5A state title game.
  15. Ben Davis over Avon by 3 TDs Cathedral returns some really talented players at the skill positions and Kendrick Gilbert on the D-Line, but they graduated a lot of players from the O-Line and the defense. Brownsburg returns 15 starters and is more experienced than Cathedral this early in the season. If Brownsburg is going to win this game, Jayden Whitaker needs to complete the passes that he missed in the 4th quarter against Ben Davis, and Brownsburg's defense needs to not give up the big play and keep everything in front of them. I would probably use bracket coverage on Jaron Tibbs most of the game. At the risk of having egg on my face, I'm picking Brownsburg to win by 3 points. However, if Brownsburg gets by Ben Davis in the sectionals and plays Cathedral in the regional, I'm confident that Cathedral will win the rematch in November. Roncalli over Franklin Central by 2 TDs Westfield over LC by two scores. Now, after the beating they took in the trenches from New Palestine, the question with Westfield becomes: Did they have two spectacular seasons because of a generational senior class with Maximus Webster, Micah Hauser, and Popeye Williams and go back to finishing in the middle of the pack in their conference, or does Westfield have the talent in their feeder system to compete among the top 5 teams in the state annually, and eventually win a state title before the end of the decade? Hopefully the later is true. Zionsville over Lebanon by 4 TDs Noblesville over Benet Academy by 7 points HSE over North Central by 4 TDs Fishers over Pike by 3 TDs
  16. Ben Davis over Avon by 3 TDs Carmel over Center Grove by 3 points Detroit King has Dante Moore and Warren Central doesn't. Detroit King wins by 2 TDs Westfield over LC by two scores LN over Whiteland by 7 points HSE over North Central by 4 TDs Fishers over Pike by 3 TDs
