  1. Key word is Backlash, in the 1970's there could be backlash. As we see today if my comments were to be screenshot and posted on social media out of context I could very well lose my job for being transphobic, or at the very least I would be "Cancelled" and for what? Being an advocate for women's sports? That's why I said it is a slippery slope. I would love some data on this, but from the eye test it feels as if some women's sports are still male dominated (coaches and officials) the transgender argument makes some in those sports question the point of girls even playing anymore. I say this having sat in our a girls basketball meeting one in which almost the entire staff is female.
  2. This question still show the inequality in sports. Take the question that you just asked and make it any girls sports. You will get an astounding 100% NO and with merit because how would this be fair to young women athletes? To answer your question the PC answer is yes they can all play no matter their gender, but if that is the case what is stopping our teenage boys from playing girls sports without being transgender?
  3. I agree with that statement completely, but where I have concern is the idea of women's equality in sports. For the longest time sports has been dominated by men and even if they are transitioning those who are transgender still hold a physical advantage over women. This is bigger then a sports, but in terms of on this thread and what we are posting about the question is how this girls sports will deal with Transgender athletes.
  4. I think it could lead to a lot of problems in women's sports. To me this takes Title IX and just spits in the face of all those who worked hard to get equal footing for women's sports. In a hypothetical what stops Danny from becoming Danielle if they don't make the boys teams? Also would it be discrimination to cut a transgender athlete? It is a really slippery slope.
  5. I will give @DT credit for this thread. It does get a lot of us thinking about what the NCC could look like if things were to change. The Schools to the west in the NCC all seem to be trending upward in football so that shift could be good for them, I would just hate to see certain rivalries die, like Kokomo vs. Marion.
  6. Ding Ding Ding, although I feel like this is rehashing what most have been saying in this thread. This version has rivalries and leaves two weeks open for great opponents. And they could keep the NCC name because they are truly North Central of Central Indiana now.
  7. The retooled NCC that is being described in here would not help those programs. There are certain pieces that can get them their, but not with the likes of Logansport ( and that's no shot a Johnson).
  8. I would agree to an extent, for the smaller schools like LCC or Tipton when they make runs, but the Schools like Western or WL are could be seen as held back at times. Don't get me wrong I love the HC but we are talking HYPOTHETICAL I am sure both programs would consider a move if it helped them make a State run.
  9. Wow I didn't now Big Papi coached football in Indiana. In all seriousness Congrats to Coach Ortiz.
  10. You could say the same thing about Western. This past season they had a team that was really good and should have at least been in contention for the Sectional crown. Only to get bounced by Lebanon again in the first round. They rolled through the regular season with Heights being their only stumble. They even beat Western Boone. They are another school I could see that would make this hypothetical move if it gave them more competition for the State Tournament.
  11. And Western is a larger 4A in football. So you could add them to the mix.
  12. So you are saying the Four Big Lafayette schools plus Logansport and Kokomo? That would make for an interesting league. Would you add anyone else to that?
  13. Lewis Cass is Owens Memorial Stadium Kokomo is Walter Cross Field I still like the Caston and Pioneer basically call their fields... That Hole in the Ground.... Which is actually saying something nice about The Pit.
  14. I saw a video from a fan in the stadium and hearing LOS erupt when he hit that field goal brought goose bumps. This season was full of ups and downs, but I would say being able to get a full season in and only having four kids get quarantined the whole season. It really was as high stress but super rewarding season. I am very happy to have been able to coach this year.
  15. As a coach I have to say that I held my breath from July until last Saturday and now that I can actually breath and look at what the state and all the kids that play were able to accomplish. It feels good knowing we were able to set a standard for athletics in this state. I do hope it continues with the winter and spring sports as well. With everything going on this little bit of normal was great to have.
  16. I think that this topic won't go away anytime soon, but a few other threads on here talk multiplier or seeding, in all honesty I feel like we need to get to a spot where the conference means more. Actually having to qualify to the state tournament rather than everyone gets a shot. That's my take but not I will sit back and listen to why I am dumb for that... At least I didn't say all P/P schools should be in their own class.
  17. I have an Aunt who is from Freeport, IL and they are the Freeport Pretzels
  18. I did a research project in an Indiana History class in college about how this came to be. Not sure how many know this about Logansport, but they used to be the Red Devils. The religious leaders in the town hated that so when they built the new school they renamed the team to Berries because where they built the school they removed a Loganberry patch. Felix became a thing when the coach brought in a stuffed Felix cat and they took it out to the court and it began a win streak for them.
  19. Nope all other sports at Cass are the Lady Kings ( as a grad of Cass it still makes me laugh today)
  20. Would be cool to talk to yourself if I were you are you were me
  21. Rock on to the fighting socks! The Chili Polar Bears is amazing. And on the PC bandwagon Lewis Cass home of the Kings (the only Kings in the state)
  22. It is hard to think of a time where Pioneer wasn't good at football. I believe that this is year 25 of having a winning record.
  23. Can the state do more awards then just the Griddy's (do they still do those awards?) I would be cool to see kids get recognition for by position with awards more than just All-Area, All-Conference, and All-State.
  24. 2 Point Games Westfield Western Boone 3 Point Games Valpo Hobart Mooresville Southridge Pioneer South Adams West Washington
  25. Bring in field hockey for a new girls sport, yeah it takes away from soccer and volleyball, but if the worry is making sure we have enough sports that is one that could be used.
