  1. Actually Mr. Williams needs to stop relying on "miracle plays" and make the more routine throws. His three interceptions cost the Bears dearly in this loss.
  2. I hope so. But the Rams have one the best passing game in the league this season, and the Bears pass defense absolutely stinks. Even in cold, snow, and wind Mr. Stafford and Mr. Nacua will carve the Bears to pieces. My prediction: Rams 42, Bears 21.
  3. Gregg Doyel's take, and some interesting information I didn't know beforehand: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2026/01/16/colts-chicago-bears-move-northwest-indiana-region/88214358007/?tbref=hp
  4. Thanks for the tip, but no thanks. Several years ago my spouse and I each spent $20 playing slot machines in the casino of a cruise ship. It really wasn't fun and we both felt kind of dirty afterwards, like we had wasted our hard-earned money. If I ever get the urge to gamble I'll play Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack on my Mattel Intellivision.
  5. Did you ever visit the Pontiac Silverdome? I did, circa 1984. It was surrounded by a 1/4 mile wide strip of parking lots, and beyond that just more dirty, rundown warehouses and light-industrial buildings. Surely not the "entertainment mecca" the lying politicians and Ford family owners probably promoted it as. If the movers and shakers of NW Indiana want a 'kickstart' let them pay for it with 100% private investments, and leave the public out of it.
  6. I know about that. It's disgusting, and it's only getting worse: https://www.kcur.org/sports/2026-01-13/chiefs-stadium-kansas-billionaires-taxpayer-subsidies No way will the taxpayers of Kansas ever recoup that $1.8 billion dollars. Never.
  7. Any stadium built in NW Indiana will become an abandoned eyesore in 30-35 years. Just like the Pontiac Silverdome was: Now that site is a Amazon warehouse and fulfillment center. Why not build something like that to begin with instead of a structure that will only be used on certain days and employ significantly more people?
  8. Because I believe wagering your money (or your spouses $, depending on how your finances are arranged) on the outcome of some physical task is too risky, hence the desperation. Probably because I grew up rather poor I don't view money as fungible as you do. Better to save it or invest it in something less risky. I can still hold that view and acknowledge that as an adult it is ultimately your choice. I just don't hope it doesn't spiral into an addiction, for you and your family's sake. And where have I stated in this thread that such wagering should be governed?
  9. Senate Republicans write bill to lure Chicago Bears to Indiana with stadium authority: https://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2026/01/15/senate-republicans-write-bill-to-lure-chicago-bills-to-indiana-with-stadium-authority/88201917007/?tbref=hp *Blech* Yet another "authority' setup to steal money from Indiana taxpayer to fund a boondoggle. They will never learn.
  10. I'm still grateful I haven't fallen prey to this sports gambling nonsense. Betting on how many rebounds an individual player will have during a given game just screams of desperation to me. Desperation probably caused by a gambling addiction.
  11. Yep. Local little league baseball leagues are basically the same way. The teams coaches divvy up the kids who are most likely to be "all stars" and concentrate on developing them, the rest are just fodder that receive very little teaching/coaching. But the fee their parents paid "keeps the lights" on, as Julio most eloquently put it.
  12. Of course they do. Head coaches like Belichick and Johnson choose to dress like non-professional, non-leadership-inducing schlubs. If they chose to smoke tobacco products on the sideline really all that they hurting are themselves.
  13. Federal Agents Used a Battering Ram to Enter a Minneapolis Home Without Valid Warrant, Video Shows: https://reason.com/2026/01/14/federal-agents-used-a-battering-ram-to-enter-a-minneapolis-home-without-valid-warrant-video-shows/ And nobody in DHS or ICE will be punished for the egregious violation of the Fourth Amendment. This is America?
  14. Gosh darn it, Johnny isn't going to be seen by some college talent scout wasting away on the JV squad.
  15. I don't have a problem with that. I wouldn't today either. They were adults.
  16. https://nypost.com/2026/01/13/sports/security-footage-of-notre-dame-coach-marcus-freemans-incident-with-wrestling-coach-revealed/ That's some real potato quality video at Mishawaka High School, but it was taken from pretty far away.
  17. Mr. Halas dressed like a professional, with class: Like almost all NFL coaches today Mr. Johnson's dress on the sidelines is just one step above Belichick-schlub: Dress classy, be classy.
  18. As am I. These forays into NWI are just leverage and scare tactics aimed towards various legislative bodies in Illinois, at the local and state level.

  21. https://fox59.com/indiana-news/nfl-commissioner-touring-potential-chicago-bears-stadium-sites-in-nw-indiana/ Just say NO to a heavily taxpayer-funded NFL stadium in NW Indiana.
  22. https://reason.com/2026/01/12/the-ice-agent-who-killed-renee-good-disregarded-traffic-stop-guidelines/?itm_source=parsely-api I have watched ever video of this sad incident that I could find, and IMHO Ms. Good was murdered. Mr. Ross should be tried and convicted of such.
  23. Thanks for trying.
  24. I have spent time in a locker room, but not an NFL locker room. Please Bobref, regale us with your tales of witnessing unabashed swearing and debauchery in an NFL locker room. Or a Notre Dame locker room.
  25. “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.” ― John Wooden Or in a "private place", whatever that means in this context. Having microphones and cameras in a locker roof hardly makes it private now, does it?
