  2. Ghosts of stadiums past haunt Chicago Bears quest for a new stadium deal: https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/05/02/ghosts-of-stadiums-past-haunt-chicago-bears-quest-for-a-new-stadium-deal/ The new Bears stadium should be 100% privately financed, a sports franchise valued at over $5 billion dollars should be able to afford it.
  3. Could they autograph Rensselaer or Pioneer swag? And charge for the act?
  4. Youth football programs? Currently zero, AFAIK. There was a push about a decade ago that got a small youth tackle football program going, with the eventual goal of a JV & Varsity program at RHS. But once the school board came out and said tackle football will never be sanctioned at RHS the youth program quickly fell apart.
  5. They will be ok. All those OMG! Athletes from Rossville will make the difference.
  6. It does sounds like the co-op program has a chance this time of passing: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2026/05/01/ihsaa-proposals-high-profile-athletes-could-benefit-from-indiana-high-school-nil-rule-change/89876819007/ Could open the door for students at Rossville (enrollment 279) to finally get to play varsity football. A co-op arrangement with Clinton Central (239) makes perfect sense.
  7. Sports Jeopardy! coming to Disney+ and Hulu: https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/espn-jeopardy-coming-to-disney-and-hulu/ar-AA21qqn3 This might be worth a watch, maybe for a few times.
  8. The Bears get an "F" grade for the 2026 draft, right behind the "D-" Colts: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7240572/2026/04/30/nfl-draft-2026-grades-analytics-winners-losers/
  9. https://abc7chicago.com/post/federal-agents-conducting-multiple-investigations-ginos-steakhouse-merrillville-schererville-indiana-house/18997056/ A nice, little NWI Mafia organization.
  10. Ughh. NIL and the Shot Clock at the same meeting? I miss the old IHSAA.
  11. Apparently Indiana University fans/homers are angry the Colts didn't take any IU players in the 2026 draft. Especially the Colts picking an Oregon LB over Aiden Fisher. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2026/04/28/colts-draft-2026-nfl-draft-national-champion-iu-football-caitlin-clark-indiana-fever/89820609007/
  12. So maybe Northwest Indiana can try and Lure the White Sox, Cubs, Blackhawks, or Bulls to a fancy new stadium. Got it. An Offensive Tackle should be priority #1. Then a Defensive Tackle or an Edge Rusher.
  13. Thank you. I will. Just thought a region dweller would have the scoop. ?
  14. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/04/22/chicago-bears-stadium-illinois-house/ So if the taxpayer-fleecing stadium does get built in Illinois, as it appears more and more to be the case, does that mean the Indiana Legislature will repeal it's taxpayer-fleecing bill that established the Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority?
  15. The venerable North Central Conference still has good drives. Primarily with games against Richmond. 2.5 hours between Richmond High School and Lafayette Jefferson.
  16. Taxpayers spending at least $19 million to host the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. Money not well spent: https://reason.com/2026/04/21/pittsburgh-thinks-the-nfl-draft-is-worth-19-million-of-taxpayer-money-heres-what-past-draft-data-say/
  17. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/illinois-considers-giving-bears-a-property-tax-break-to-keep-them-from-leaving-for-indiana Another "freebie" floated for the Bears, an organization valued at over $8 billion dollars, which will ultimately be paid for by Illinois taxpayers.
  18. I still believe I pay too much in taxes. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/taxes-file-irs-americans-feel-they-pay-too-much/ Sorry, have no idea what you are talking about here. I don't follow Mr. Dakich.
  19. 16 year old: No. >= 18 years old: Yes.
  20. Meh
  21. https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/2026/04/15/union-schools-to-enroll-students-despite-law-to-shutter-district/ The State Legislature's way of trying to shutdown the Union school corporation, by inserting language into a completely unrelated bill, is reprehensible. On that point alone the government school corporation's lawsuit should prevail. The lawmaker or lawmakers who want to do this need to have had the courage to introduce a separate bill.
  22. Indiana Toll Road increases to help pay for possible new Bears stadium: https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/2026/04/15/indiana-toll-road-deal-would-trade-twice-annual-hikes-for-700m-bears-stadium-windfall/ Indiana: Land of Taxes.
  23. Yes, as an adult I am.
  24. No, the research seems complete enough IMHO, especially regarding children and tackle football. You may think there is some 'magic percentage' that if low enough justifies the risk. Unless some quantum leap in player safety, especially regarding head injuries/trauma, comes to light then I don't see my opinion changing.
