  1. Stay classy UofM:
  2. Yes, I firmly believe such incidents will escalate, be it in "travel ball" or traditional school sponsored extra-curricular sports activities.
  3. #1. With young teachers continuing to flee government education in Indiana (1376 current teaching opening at Indiana schools: https://app.hirenimble.com/jobs/state/in ) the need for non-teacher, non-tenured lay coaches will only become bigger and bigger. Good luck to the AD's trying to vet & control these potential coaches whose livelihood also doesn't depend on having a job at that school.
  4. Yes, they are a charter member of the new Monon Athletic Conference: https://www.mononathleticconference.com/schools.html But I don't expect much to change. Frankfort was also a charter member of the venerable North Central Conference, but lack of town and school growth when compared to the other member schools eventually forced it out in 1967, where they joined the new Sagamore Conference.
  5. No, that stance has not changed. As for HERO DAD COACHES it is up to the youth leagues to better vet and hold these coaches to a higher standard. I haven't heard much about these kind of incidents occurring at PAL or Catholic run youth leagues, do you? I don't know what kind of youth league this Indy Firehawks team was affiliated with, if any. I suspect it was probably one of these independent travel-type teams, which is pretty much the wild west when it comes to youth sports. I also think that with the growth of "lay coaches" in middle and high school sports it's only a matter of time before you see one of these HERO DAD COACHES stalking the sidelines of a field or court near you.
  6. More commentary on the danger of Mr. Beckwith becoming 2nd in command over the Indiana state government: https://www.indystar.com/story/opinion/2024/10/08/micah-beckwith-christian-nationalist-indiana-lieutenant-governor/75380536007/?tbref=hp
  7. No, they won't. Record under the current AD and coaching staff is currently 9-57. And the vast majority of those losses were 36+ points blowouts, not competitive at all.

The IU Athletic department needs to signup Phillip Morris as a sponsor.
  9. School curricula to stay hidden from parents, high court rules: https://www.michigancapitolconfidential.com/news/school-curricula-to-stay-hidden-from-parents-high-court-rules?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Let's hope the Michigan legislature sets this indeed disturbing legal precedent right. I wonder if this is also currently the same here in Indiana. Are local government employees defined as "public bodies"?
  10. Don't both contribute to your statement "I should have the right to breathe fresh air in my community" ? Do you believe marijuana should continue to illegal in the state of Indiana based primarily on your desire for fresh air in your community? What about vaping?
  11. Do you have the same opinion regarding tobacco?
  12. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2024/10/06/two-men-shot-over-youth-football-at-indy-cardinal-ritter-high-school/75543367007/?tbref=hp Any of our GID members have a solution to this seemingly escalating problem in your sports?
  13. https://www.indystar.com/story/opinion/columnists/2024/10/07/indiana-marijuana-legalization-mccormick-pot-plan/75391138007/?tbref=hp Smart arguments from Mr. Hicks. Too bad he also doesn't advocate for personal freedom regarding marijuana use, that government really has no business telling an adult what they can or cannot choose to put into their body.
  14. My apologies for the somewhat late list, many times I have more important things to do on a weekend than fret about football game scores. But here we go. Again, lots of blowouts this week and a travesty of a 'football game' in my Bullcrap track meets section.
