  1. Blindly following rules is a sickness.
  2. NorthWood vs East Noble is a very interesting match up... I think the Panthers get it done.
  3. You can't really say it's 'what they should do' when their record against them the last 10 years is about .500. That's by far the largest margin of victory I've seen in the leather helmet game. That was Buz's statement game.
  4. - Warsaw's QB went down against City. Chesterton surprised a lot of people last week with how they handled Hobart. I think the Trojans get it done. - Crown Point gave the entire Region a big statement last week. They should take care of Andrean easily. - Valpo should roll. Not sure this game needs to be played anymore after this year. - As I suspected, it looks like City might be in a little bit of a down year. Jeff will roll. - I guess we'll see how much LC has improved under Good so far. I think Providence wins this one comfortably. - Lowell got blasted last week but I think they bounce back this week. - Ville should win this one with little resistance. - Penn should crush Portage.
  5. You're gonna have a hard time convincing me a coach that's 140 games over .500 and has taken his teams to 4 state championships isn't good at what he does.
  6. Yeah, but they won 3 of those in the first 5 years of the formation of the MIC. 20+ years since nothing. The teams from Indy started playing better competition more consistently, year after year. The level of play in Indy got better and better, until they left Penn in the dust. Same thing with the HCC.
  7. Preaching to the choir here. I don't stick my head in the sand and ignore your SES argument...
  8. Your logic seems pretty solid there. If someone had the time and the effort, they probably could go back through scores and give a pretty good ballpark number as to where enrollment discrepancies cease to make a significant difference in determining games. Penn's problem is indicative of what @BTF is getting at. They are far too big to be playing the schools they do in the NIC. They've tried to mitigate it by playing a tough noncon schedule, but the truth is that playing in that conference is the main factor why they've fallen from grace statewide. You are who you play against.
  9. This is a big factor. Add in the fact that MIC schools will now be looking for more non-conference games with CG and Carmel no longer in the league. This will give a chance to more non-Indy area teams to schedule them. I think a big reason why the HCC has made such significant strides is that most play 2 MIC teams for their non-con schedule in addition to their HCC schedule. Iron sharpens iron.
  10. I think this was mentioned by someone on another thread (sorry, can't remember who or where), but is there an aspect of diminishing returns when it comes to enrollment? Does an extra 500 kids make that big of a difference when we're talking about schools of 2500+ to begin with?
  11. If you’re into that kind of stuff
  12. Ok, literally everything that has ever happened in the world had never happened before at some point lol. It'll take a special group and a special coach but it will happen.
  13. Thanks for spicing up my very boring work morning, guys. That being said, and I've mentioned this before, when a true 'North' team wins 6A, because it will happen, they will be instant legends.
  14. Penn in 2015. But that seems like a LONG time ago...
  15. What was the score when he went down? Didn't see the game but that margin of victory was extremely impressive.
  16. Battle of Broadway is always packed. I've only seen a few of their games at home the past couple years and they still fill Demaree. I would say CP and Chesterton impressed me in similar ways. CP just bludgeoned Lowell with sheer force and Chesterton completely controlled Hobart with a very physical defense and an actual running game (something they've been missing the past couple years). I'll also mention that CP's QB/RB combo is very good. CP almost reminded me of Valpo in terms of front 7, but with better QB and WR play, which is a scary prospect for the rest of the DAC.
  17. Judging from Seiss’s comments the last few years the only reason Merrillville plays Andrean and Hobart is due to money, they always get the games at home, no travel and the gate. Seems like he would rather play schools of a similar size but doesn’t really have a say in the matter. CP should beat Andrean next week by two scores or more. They’ll be a legit threat to Merrillville this year in the DAC. Chesterton had to be the most-surprising team last week. They could be emerging as an early favorite in that sectional with Valpo and MC. If they beat Warsaw, even sans the Tiger’s starting QB, I’ll buy in.
  18. Was looking at schedules from that year on MaxPreps and didn't realize I had clicked onto Cathedral from Chatard 😅
  19. I agree with what you're saying, but if that 3A team is one of the best in the state regardless of class I think that has to be taken into consideration. I think Chatard could've taken out a few 6A contenders that season.
  20. I may be wrong, but wasn't Chatard a top 5 team all classes that year per Sagarin? At least top 10? I get that Merrillville's performance wasn't impressive to say the least but I'm not sure that game completely disqualifies them. But to answer the original question, no. They proved they could be the best team outside of the Indy bubble but to get anywhere in 6A you have to beat the teams from the donut. Not to mention that they've been 5A enrollment-wise for a couple years now. We'll see, if they put their money where their mouth is this classification cycle they'll be back up in 6A in 2 years.
  21. I don't know man, when Mason used to 'teach' us PE it consisted of him rolling the ball out for the game that day and going back to his office to watch film...
