  1. FWIW - up here in northern Indiana - there is the TMT (Triple - Midline - Toss) Camp for schools that run that style of offense. It's currently happening at Manchester University. Warsaw, Fairfield, Northfield, Munster, a school from Illinois and a school from Canada are all there. All run the same style of offense. The camp very much so focuses on the fundamentals it takes to run that style of offense, while allowing some competition between the schools (so it's not just the whole summer of facing your own jerseys) I wonder if something similar could be hosted down south for schools that run the flexbone/wishbone offense? Or is Heritage Hills the only school that does?
  2. Definitely agree. I expect Valpo to be better than both Mishawaka and Concord this season.
  3. Any news on NLC teams? Warsaw just finished their "Dawn Patrol" week. Every day this week, early in the morning, the Tigers meet at various parks throughout the city and do various workouts/physical tests. Stuff like flipping tires, running hills, bear crawls, wheelbarrow carries, etc. One day they even trained with fire fighting equipment. Tomorrow they head to Manchester University as part of the TMT (Triple - Midline - Toss) Option Camp. There are a handful of teams that come every year. I think this year Fairfield, Munster, Northfield and a team from Illinois and a team from Canada will be there. What are the other NLC schools up to?
  4. Northridge ranked way too high in 4A, especially with their best player moving out of state to Michigan.
  5. True - but not very well for the SAC because many of their schools end up playing only SAC teams in the post season. Here are the only non-SAC schools each team played last year. Carroll: Warsaw and Westfield Concordia: Northwestern and Norwell Dwenger: Zionsville Homestead: N/A Luers: Fairfield, Prairie Heights, and Eastside North: N/A Northrop: N/A Snider: N/A Wayne: Marion, Delta, and Mississinewa Arguably 3 of the top 5 teams from the SAC (Dwenger, Homestead, and Snider) played exactly 1 non-SAC member last year. That certainly did not help their Sagarin Ratings whatsoever. Yes they still adjusted some, but not much. However, I stand corrected. After doing my own research, Homestead's opponents went 38-41 last season, while Elkhart's went 44-33. Both teams ended with similar regular season records (6-3 and 5-4 respectively). Granted - the SAC schools will always have their opponents finish +/- their win-loss differential from .500 I still find it hard to argue that New Prairie, Marian, Concord, Penn and Mishawaka were tougher opponents than Carroll, Snider, Dwenger and Luers, but I digress. I'm simply arguing with myself at this point. (and sorry for bring SAC stuff to the NIC thread)
  6. FWIW - those Sagarin ratings hate the SAC due to intraconference play only. I have a hard time believing Carroll/Homestead schedule of playing each other, Snider, Dwenger, and Luers was easier than Elkhart's schedule last year.
  7. I'm not sure. It was @BL that said it initially. Looking at Tagg's Twitter profile, it still shows Northridge listed as his high school and his banner and profile pic are of him from Northridge last year.
  8. Supposedly a lot had to do with construction at Plymouth, along with the administrative changes that occurred in recent years? I cannot remember the specifics, but with recent updates to their campus, it caused football practices to be moved to the middle school or something along with other issues. Then the new AD supposedly had a number of differences with many of the coaches which led to high turnover at the head coach level across all Plymouth athletics. I believe there was a fairly public disagreement between the AD and the previous basketball coach. There should be more commentary in old threads here on the GID. To the second bolded point, when Plymouth played Warsaw last year in Week 3 - it was the Rockies third different offense in as many weeks. Not sure what was happening on that side of the ball, but it was strange to find that out. Granted - they had next to zero options on that side of the football besides Devante Garcia. Felt bad for that kid last year. He was truly the only player from the opposite sideline that stood out.
  9. Agreed - that will be a stout test for the Cavemen. Week 6: at Warsaw Week 7: vs. NorthWood Week 8: at Concord at least they get to finish it up against Wawasee in Week 9.
  10. Wow I had not heard that about Gott and apparently completely read over it when reviewing your post previously. Wasn't he included on the cover of the magazine this year? So it had to be a recent move, yeah?
  11. The Channel 46 WHME football schedule has come out for this upcoming season. Weeks 6-9 are TBD. NLC teams being featured are bolded below Aug. 19 - Mishawaka at Marian Aug. 25 - Watervliet at Brandywine (MI) Aug. 26 - Northridge at Elkhart Sept. 1 - Buchanan at Niles (MI) Sept. 2 - Concord at NorthWood Sept. 9 - Jimtown at John Glenn Sept. 16 - Penn at Elkhart Some possible NLC matchups in weeks 6-9 that could be featured in my opinion: Sept. 23 - Mishawaka at Warsaw / Goshen at Concord Sept. 30 - NorthWood at Mishawaka / Concord at Northridge Oct. 7 - Mishawaka at Concord / Goshen at Warsaw Oct. 14 - Warsaw at Northridge
  12. What is your definition of recently? NorthWood moved up to 4A in the 2011 season (when Warsaw was still a 5A school). The next season, 2012, is when the IHSAA created 6A and Warsaw moved up to that classification. With today's enrollments - if there were only 5 classes (63 teams per class), the NLC would still be a 4A/5A conference.
  13. @DTI have zero issues with you making your opinions and arguments... just us facts to make them. You come across more credible that way in my opinion instead of someone who just throws crap against the wall and seeing what sticks. Take it as you will.
  14. I just don't understand the reason for you posting factual inaccuracies. I don't mind when you post all your opinions, everyone can have them. There are no 3A schools in the NLC.
  15. Throwing some content out there - I for one am excited with the new rotating NLC schedule that goes into effect this season. It will definitely be different not starting the conference season against Plymouth and ending with Concord (for the Tigers), but I like the changes of shifting conference opponents throughout the seasons. I think it was great that the NLC also made sure none of the 4A schools were playing each other to end the season, preventing the possibility of back-to-back weeks of facing the same opponent the last week of the regular season then first round of sectionals. This year's schedule will be replicated in 2023 before the next shift. Final week opponents are in place for the foreseeable future.
  16. You literally commented on it no less than 2 weeks ago? And before your spam of conference threads you created, I'm almost positive it was on the first page, because I found it on the 2nd page behind all the new ones you started up.
  17. According to who? I don't need some badge/nameplate to recognize myself as a conference thread driver. I do it because I enjoy it, not for some meaningless forum title. I am all for promoting Indiana high school football and driving engagement and conversations, but this was honestly a bit absurd/ridiculous.
  18. Thanks for joining up @BL! Glad to have another NLCer in the fold. As well - anyone that wants to discuss the NLC 2022 season - use this thread! Absolutely zero reason for @DT to anoint himself the tsar of this forum and creating new threads for every conference, especially those conferences that already have an existing thread going.
  19. Well - which is it? The southern part or western part of the state? (said in complete jest) Definitely agree this is very cool. Curious about what other areas in the state have something similar? There was like a few years there was something in South Bend a few years back that I don't think ever took off. It comprised the greater Michiana area into 4 regions I believe. Something like Michigan, South Bend, East, and West and it was for every sport under the sun it felt like. I can't find anything on it online right now, but maybe someone else will remember what I'm talking about here.
  20. I am assuming then based on that information that the game was played in Terre Haute, somewhere on Indiana State's campus?
  21. What teams are considered for this All Star game? Where was it held? Also - any of the young men planning to play at the next level?
  22. Yet - they somehow found a way to get it done. And part of that was due to their offense finding an identify and becoming more consistent, which is the point I was making for this upcoming year's "predictions" for the conference race.
  23. Considering there are 6 other teams not named Warsaw or Wawasee in the NLC? Yes, the Warriors should remain in the NLC. I do not believe Warsaw needs to change their conference affiliation whatsoever. Bart Ball offense is all about repetition and perfecting that repetition. It doesn't matter if it's run against Wawasee or Warren Central. If the Tigers are ever to make a deep tournament run in 6A football, it will be due to their execution of that offense, not because Wawasee left the NLC. I would say Warsaw and Mishawaka are co-favorites. The Tigers bring back plenty of experience, no more so important than their QB. In Bart Ball offense, that is key. Similarly, the Cavemen will have a junior QB who gained plenty of experience last season as a sophomore filling in for his injured brother. Northridge will be right there IMO. They have a good defensive scheme and unit, and I believe their tournament run last year helped them gain a little bit of confidence and identity on the offensive side of things that went ghost mode at times during the regular season. Concord is the defending conference champs, and are always in the equation. However, I believe they lost quite a bit from last season. Still dangerous though and wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see them up at the top. NorthWood has seemingly lost their edge after their State Championship Runner-Up finish now six seasons ago. They are .500 over the last two years, and I am honestly not sure what to expect from the Panthers. They could surprise due to their offense, but the Black Crunch defense will need to show up this season. Goshen will come around over the next few years under Coach Wogomon, but I do not expect any sort of magic wand to be waved in his first season for the Redhawks. Would love to see them challenging again in the NLC. Wawasee and Plymouth will be at the bottom again. Based off the last few years, I'll give the slight edge to the Warriors over the Rockies, if only due to the fact that Plymouth is going through a significant coaching change. Coach Barron leaving painted a pretty rough portrait of what is going on in the land of blueberries. As well, I don't know Coach Handley, but it's not like he turned Wabash around during his four season there. I wish him nothing but the best.
  24. The son of a coaches kid - I remember getting on the GID often on Friday nights and Saturday mornings in the early 2000s. As well, getting the new edition of the yearly Indiana Football Digest to comb through season after season. My only time meeting TA was that late spring before my senior year when he came to Warsaw to get pictures and interviews, stats, etc for next seasons digest. Growing up, I couldn't wait to get my name and picture included. I will always remember meeting him that day.
  25. https://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/news media/2021-22/062322.BasketballFormat.pdf The Committee approved modified restrictions on Indiana schools competing against schools from beyond the 300-mile travel limit. IHSAA schools will now be able to participate against out-of-state schools from beyond the 300-mile limit as long as they are in good standing with their state association, the venue is within the 300 mile limit, is and is sanctioned by the NFHS and IHSAA. Also, Indiana schools may now host out-of-state schools in Indiana from beyond the 300-mile limit as long as they are a member in good standing with their own state association and the event is sanctioned by the NFHS and IHSAA.
