  1. Jimtown definitely falls into the category of "If you asked this question in 2010" who would have been included. They have now gone 7 seasons without a sectional championship, 12 seasons without a regional championship, and haven't made it to semi-state in 16 years. They are like the "Indiana basketball" version of "Blue Blood"... the clock is slowly ticking away to keep their status.
  2. I think it was said earlier - but it would have been interesting to see this list 10 years ago, 20 years ago, and who would have been included then and who isn't now. Two "smaller" schools from Michiana that I personally have always viewed as "blue blood" programs that I don't think have been mentioned yet are Jimtown and NorthWood. The Jimmies have 22 Sectional, 12 Regional, 6 Semi-State and 4 State Championships. However, the last of each of those titles respectively are 2014, 2009, 2005 and 2005. Since the school has grown into a 3A enrollment, they have not seen the same level of postseason success that they did for the better part of 3 decades. The Panthers have 18 Sectional, 11 Regional, 6 Semi-State and 1 State Championships. As the case is with the Jimmies, since they moved into class 4A a little over a decade ago, they won a Sectional Championship in 2011 and were State Runner-Ups (14-1 record) in 2016. It has been tougher sledding for NorthWood since moving to 4A. I still consider both of these programs to be "blue blood" status. However, that is just my opinion.
  3. Makes sense! My father joined the staff at Warsaw in 1996... and I was in early elementary at that time. I do feel like I have a memory of multiple teams being on the field at one time. Had just completely forgotten about it!
  4. How long ago was this? I only ask because for the years Elkhart Memorial was a school, Warsaw never participated in a jamboree with them to my knowledge. In the 90s and through the 00s, Warsaw would scrimmage against SB Clay. Then I think that switched to Tippecanoe Valley for a few years and now they scrimmage Leo. I personally do not ever remember the Tigers being in a Jamboree with those teams you mentioned, but my memory is really only good from 1995 onward. Also - not saying it didn't happen. I think it's awesome if it did! Definitely would have been fun to go to with those 6 schools.
  5. For football (and I believe wrestling), it's the Rockies. Everything else is Pilgrims.
  6. I could probably look this up myself, but I'd rather someone else tell me this morning as I've got work to do 😛 Does 8-man football play on the same size field as a regular high school football field? As well, if these new 8-man football schools are likely NEW completely to football, will they be building new stadiums or using a nearby school's facilities instead? Is the thought that games will be played on Friday night as well? I would guess many of the schools would want/need to rent other school's facilities and then for logistics purposes, games will be played on a night other than Friday, yeah?
  7. I have no quarrel with either of you here... but as an admin/mod who likes to remind posters to stay on topic, this has certainly been derailed by you @Irishman Your first post? Perfectly fine. But then following up to your own post asking what was funny about it just stoked the fires for absolutely no reason.
  8. 5A South is really 8 groups of 2 teams. Just gotta figure out what groups match up with whom. Harrison (WL) and McCutcheon Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South Plainfield and Decatur Central Franklin and Whiteland Bloomington North and Bloomington South Columbus East and Seymour Floyd Central and New Albany Evansville North and Castle
  9. It won't happen because Anderson is terrible, but in the scenario above (and what I'm pretty confident will happen) how wild would it be if Anderson was the 5A NORTH representative while Harrison (WL) was the 5A SOUTH representative.
  10. Pretty sure I did in another thread - but here's my guess: 5A North is pretty simple. Sectional 9: Hammon Central, Hammond Morton, Merrillville, Munster Sectional 10: Chesterton, LaPorte, Michigan City, Valparaiso Sectional 11: Concord, Goshen, Mishawaka, SB Adams Sectional 12: Anderson, FW Dwenger, FW North, FW Snider 5A South could have a few options: Sectional 13: Decatur Central, Harrison (WL), McCutcheon, Plainfield Sectional 14: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South Sectional 15: Columbus East, Franklin, Seymour, Whiteland Sectional 16: Castle, Evansville North, Floyd Central, New Albany Sectional 13: Harrison (WL), McCutcheon, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South Sectional 14: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Decatur Central, Plainfield Sectional 15: Columbus East, Franklin, Seymour, Whiteland Sectional 16: Castle, Evansville North, Floyd Central, New Albany Sectional 13: Decatur Central, Harrison (WL), McCutcheon, Plainfield Sectional 14: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Franklin, Whiteland Sectional 15: Columbus East, Floyd Central, New Albany, Seymour Sectional 16: Castle, Evansville North, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South
  11. This wouldn't surprise me, it HAS to happen. Looking at the schools, I previously posted these options for 6A North. There are 10 schools NORTH of Indy in 6A. At the very least, 2 schools will HAVE to head NORTH to make up 3 of the sectionals. My best guesses: Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lafayette Jeff, Lake Central, Portage Sectional 2: Elkhart, Penn, Warsaw, Westfield Sectional 3: Carroll, Homestead, Noblesville, Northrop Sectional 4: Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Zionsville OR Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Lafayette Jeff, Zionsville Sectional 2: Elkhart, Penn, Portage, Warsaw Sectional 3. Carroll, Homestead, Noblesville, Northrop Sectional 4: Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Westfield There is precedent already set of sending Noblesville NORTH to a sectional with Fort Wayne schools. Happened just a few years ago. I think that is a guarantee. That leaves your others options of either sending Westfield NORTH on US 31 to join Elkhart, Penn and Warsaw OR sending Zionsville north up Interstate 65 to join Lafayette Jeff with two schools in The Region. There is precedent set here as well with Zionsville being in sectionals with Harrison (West Lafayette) and McCutcheon previously. If one of the two options I have listed here end up NOT being the sectional groupings for 6A North - I will donate an extra $50 on top of my normal $30 donation to the GID for the next year.
  12. NLC Enrollment figured based on updated announcement from IHSAA Rank School Enrollment Class 15-16 Rank Trend 30 Warsaw 2096 6A 25 -5 36 Goshen 2015 5A 41 5 52 Concord 1694 5A 57 5 56 Mishawaka 1603 5A 65 9 67 Northridge 1410 4A 75 8 92 Plymouth 1080 4A 94 2 109 Wawasee 948 4A 110 1 114 NorthWood 888 4A 123 9 Warsaw appears to be heading the way of Valparaiso, Chesterton and Merrillville on a descent into Class 5A. With both Whiteland and Harrison (West Lafayette) both growing signficantly over the last 5-7 years, Warsaw could very well see themselves in Class 5A by the next reclassification cycle. Especially if Cathedral accumulates enough points to stay in 6A. Interesting to note the Elkhart County and St Joseph County schools (Goshen, Concord, Northridge, NorthWood and Mishawaka) with jumps UP in terms of size ranking when compared to the Kosciusko and Marshall County schools (Warsaw, Wawasee, and Plymouth). For fun, I went back and found the 13-14 enrollment numbers. Interesting to see the trends for each school from almost a decade ago. Rank School Enrollment Class 13-14 Rank Trend 13-14 Enrollment Difference 30 Warsaw 2096 6A 25 -5 2138 -42 36 Goshen 2015 5A 48 12 1811 204 52 Concord 1694 5A 68 16 1523 171 56 Mishawaka 1603 5A 65 9 1514 89 67 Northridge 1410 4A 80 13 1291 119 92 Plymouth 1080 4A 104 12 1112 -32 109 Wawasee 948 4A 110 1 933 15 114 NorthWood 888 4A 122 8 853 35
  13. Hey @jets - Just following up here. With the updated enrollment numbers, it looks like Southridge will be in 3A due to enrollment anyway. I show them as the 3rd smallest school via enrollment in class 3A. Even if Chatard gets bumped to stay in class 4A and Western Boone gets bumped to stay in class 3A, Southridge will still stay in 3A.
  14. I just went through and looked at what was different from the previous version and not trying to stir the pot, the marjoity of discrepancies were with the Private schools. Almost every single one of them had discrepancies in what was reported. Here are the ones I captured. 15. @crimsonace1 Could you provide a list of the schools you used? I feel like I must be missing a school because I have 316 total schools.
  16. Even crazier in that situation - obviously there are more factors at play, but you could end up with 17 schools in Class 5A north of U.S. Highway 30! I mean, there are already 15 schools that fit that critera, but if Dwenger accumulates enough points to stay up in 5A when/if those two schools drop to 5A and no other schools from the Region (Valpo, Chesterton, Merrillville being most likely) get an enrollment boost to put them back in 6A... you would likely have to see either Warsaw get put in 5A SOUTH with the Lafayette schools and Anderson included.
  17. I was just thinking the same thing last night when looking at the numbers. Since the 15-16 count, Warsaw has dropped 5 spots and Northrop has dropped 9 spots while Whiteland has jumped 13 spots and Decatur Central has jumped 18 spots. That northern part of the state in 5A will continue to grow with the additions of Warsaw and FW Northrop once Whiteland and Decatur Central pass them and go into 6A (making that class even more Indy-centric).
  18. Not sure how LCC being in 2A South has anything to do with the 3 6A Fort Wayne schools being broken up? Are you just meeaning/saying that basically who knows what could happen because the IHSAA has done "random" stuff in the past?
  19. It's hard to follow how you laid it out, so let me try a different way. I believe technically, it's going to be a 6 year stay, all based on the 2020 Regional Championship while in 3A. The 6 points accumulated from the 2017 and 2018 seasons in 2A bumped them up to 3A. In the next two-year cylce, 2 points were accumulated thanks to the Regional Championship in 2020. So NO MATTER WHAT - Southridge was going to stay in 3A for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. So next year playing in 3A would have happened COVID be damned. However, it looks like that 2020 Regional Championship will keep Southridge in 3A for the 2022 and 2023 seasons as well. So I see what you are saying.
  20. Call me crazy, but I feel like 5A North is pretty simple. Sectional 9: Hammon Central, Hammond Morton, Merrillville, Munster Sectional 10: Chesterton, LaPorte, Michigan City, Valparaiso Sectional 11: Concord, Goshen, Mishawaka, SB Adams Sectional 12: Anderson, FW Dwenger, FW North, FW Snider 5A South could have a few options: Sectional 13: Decatur Central, Harrison (WL), McCutcheon, Plainfield Sectional 14: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South Sectional 15: Columbus East, Franklin, Seymour, Whiteland Sectional 16: Castle, Evansville North, Floyd Central, New Albany Sectional 13: Harrison (WL), McCutcheon, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South Sectional 14: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Decatur Central, Plainfield Sectional 15: Columbus East, Franklin, Seymour, Whiteland Sectional 16: Castle, Evansville North, Floyd Central, New Albany Sectional 13: Decatur Central, Harrison (WL), McCutcheon, Plainfield Sectional 14: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Franklin, Whiteland Sectional 15: Columbus East, Floyd Central, New Albany, Seymour Sectional 16: Castle, Evansville North, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South
  21. But they aren't... look above. The 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons are getting counted into the Success Factor point totals this year. Both Pioneer and Southridge won Regionals Championships (worth 2 points) within that 2 year cycle, not 3 years.
  22. I can guarantee you Warsaw was not a fan of going 21 days between playing games, and it was obvious watching their first half of the game against Carroll.
