  1. Using these numbers (and depending on what happens with Cathedral) here are the options I see for 6A sectionals: With no Cathedral in 6A... Sectional 1: Crown Point, Harrison (WL), Lafayette Jeff, Lake Central Sectional 2: Elkhart, Penn, Portage, Warsaw Sectional 3: Carroll (FW), Homestead, Noblesville, Northrop Sectional 4: Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton SE, Westfield Sectional 5: Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, North Central, Zionsville Sectional 6: Avon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Pike Sectional 7: Perry Meridian, Southport, Tech, Warren Central Sectional 8: Center Grove, Columbus North, Franklin Central, Jeffersonville With Cathedral in 6A... 6A South stays the same, you just sub in Cathedral for Zionsville. Sectional 5: Cathedral, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, North Central Sectional 6: Avon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Pike Sectional 7: Perry Meridian, Southport, Tech, Warren Central Sectional 8: Center Grove, Columbus North, Franklin Central, Jeffersonville The issue in 6A North with Cathedral in 6A is at least two teams between Zionsville, Westfield, Noblesville, Fishers, HSE and Carmel will HAVE to go to sectionals 1-3 somewhere. There are only 10 schools north of those schools, so 2 will have to go that way for their sectionals. My best guess is the "northern" most of that grouping is Noblesville and Westfield. Noblesville has been in a sectional with Fort Wayne schools in the past, so that makes sense for them to definitely be 1 of the schools heading WAY north. Westfield having to go a long way up Highway 31 to be included in Sectional 3 seems crazy, but the only other logical option would be to send Zionsville up Highway 65 with Laf Jeff and 2 region schools. 2 options as I see it: Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lafayette Jeff, Lake Central, Portage Sectional 2: Elkhart, Penn, Warsaw, Westfield Sectional 3: Carroll (FW), Homestead, Noblesville, Northrop Sectional 4: Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton SE, Zionsville Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lafayette Jeff, Lake Central, Zionvsille Sectional 2: Elkhart, Penn, Portage, Warsaw Sectional 3: Carroll (FW), Homestead, Noblesville, Northrop Sectional 4: Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton SE, Westfield Anything different than either of these two options would come from breaking up schools that normally the IHSAA has not done in the past. Something crazy like this could work, but doesn't seem likely Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Penn, Portage Sectional 2: Elkhart, Lafayette Jeff, Northrop, Warsaw Sectional 3: Carroll (FW), Fishers, Hamilton SE, Homestead Sectional 4: Carmel, Noblesville, Westfield, Zionsville See what I mean? That's just really messy. I think they obviously keep these "pods" together when it comes to the North Lake Central and Crown Point (2) Penn and Elkhart (2) Carroll, Homestead and Northrop (3) Fishers and HSE (2) That's 9 of 16 6A North schools that I feel like the IHSAA always trieds to keep together. Another random options could be: Sectional 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Penn, Portage Sectional 2: Elkhart, Carroll (FW), Homestead, Northrop Sectional 3: Lafayette Jeff, Noblesville, Warsaw, Westfield Sectional 4: Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton SE, Zionsville
  2. I'd disagree with the equal part. Over the last 10 seasons, East Noble is 85-28, consistently competing for conference and sectional championships and a winning record every season. Granted, it was in 4A and in the Northeast 8/Hoosier conference, but during that same time frame, Chesterton has gone 54-51 overall, only 5 winning seasons and most years not competeing for a DAC championship. Again, I won't argue that 6A and the DAC are a step up in competition and skew Chesterton's "potential" and if you swapped the two teams situations who knows what it could look like. This is mostly my point and I think you agree, so I'm sorry for beating a dead horse. Would the Panthers prefer scheduling another 5A or 6A school from Indy or the Region? Sure absolutely. But I think adding East Noble to their schedule is a VERY SOLID pick up and is a benefit for Snider. Personally I'm excited to see this matchup.
  3. Yeah I will chime in here that East Noble is no joke. They are as good of a program as any school Warsaw has scheduled in past years in their out of conference schedule. Part of me wishes that game could have stayed on the schedule for the foreseeable future while Warsaw shifted the other game to more of a rotating team, but I also like Warsaw's additions of Michigan City and Chesterton. At the same time - just because Warsaw added a 6A Chesterton team doesn't mean the Tigers schedule is any better. One could argue over the last decade, 4A East Noble has been a much better program than Chesterton, so who is really making Warsaw better? The 4A Knights or 6A Trojans?
  4. Usually not too much news this time of year, but obviously wanted to call out in this thread (mentioned in it's own thread) that Coach Barron resigned at Plymouth. That leaves two programs with head coach openings along with Goshen. Will be interesting to see/hear of any candidates that throw their names into the hat for both places. Both programs have had signficant levels of success in the NLC at one time or the other, but each have their respective challenges this day in age.
  5. You are correct! I had forgotten about that game during the Panthers run to the state title in 2005. For some reason I did not think Luers and NorthWood were ever in class 3A together at the same time. It also looks like they played one other time, in the 1984 Class 2A Regional with the #7 Panthers defeating the #9 Knights 21-17. Either way, would be awesome to see these two storied programs match up with each other on a more consistent basis than once every two decades! Ha!
  6. 2004 games was State Championship. FWIW - it looks like it was a 6 year serries from 1987 - 1992 according to Almanac Sports ODD years were at Warren Central EVEN years were at FW Snider
  7. Not sure I call 3 matchups over 14 years a series per se, but agree it would be great to see Snider and Warren matchup more frequently.
  8. Here's of those matchups I would want to see: Warsaw vs. Snider/Dwenger - Would love to see the Tigers match up against either of these teams. I would not want them facing Carroll or Homestead in the regular season knowing they are sectional foes, so the next two "big dogs" in the SAC would be valuable. Concord/Mishawaka vs. Carroll/Homestead - This could be a huge/valuable game for the Minutemen and Cavemen. Both schools compete well against Warsaw, and adding another 6A school to their schedule would do nothing but better prepare them for the 5A tournament. For Carroll and Homestead, playing Mishawaka would give them a chance to see "Bart Ball" during the regular season and have that exposure before seeing Warsaw in the sectional. NorthWood vs. Luers - Two historially strong programs that I do not believe have ever met on the gridiron. The smallest schools in each conference, but pound for pound arguably the best of the NLC and SAC. Goshen/Northridge vs. North Side/Northrop - Good measuring sticks for the remaining 5A NLC school (Goshen) and one of the stronger 4A NLC schools (Northridge) against two 5A schools in the SAC. Even though for Goshen these are 5A foes, how the sectionals are currently set up, these teams would not potentially meet until the 5A North Semi-State, so not as big of a deal as the Warsaw/Carroll/Homestead thought process. Plymouth/Wawasee vs. South Side/Wayne/Concordia - The rest of the teams who are currently all at the bottom of the barrel of each conference. Would be good matchups for each school as they continue to try and build up their programs.
  9. I'd point you to the interview that @HHF did with John Barron earlier this year. I am having trouble finding it.
  10. That was the first name I was looking through on that list for and was shocked to not see him in the Top 25. Obviously a lot of great athletes there, but that one got me the most.
  11. Warsaw moves Michigan City to the first game of the season and brings in 6A foe Chesterton to beef up their non-conference schedule. Then with the NLC schedule shakeup take on rival Plymouth at home before arguably the most difficult 3 game conference schedule any team will face at Concord, at NorthWood and home against Mishawaka. The Chesterton series is a home and home before the Tigers add Warren Central to the week 2 slot for the 2024 and 2025 seasons 😳
  12. Correct - what @NRRaider2001 said. It's much like Ohio State referring to Michigan as "That Team Up North" and Michigan referring to Ohio State as simply "Ohio". It's Elkhart's way of trying to build a rivalry with Concord as I do not believe either Central or Memorial had a very big "rivalry" with the Minutemen, but makes sense geographically and perhaps back in the day when Elkhart was previously 1 high school they did have a rivalry with Concord.
  13. I believe in Wrestling they are the Rockies as well
  14. Years of losing to and having battles with our US 30 rivals will do that. Plus hearing "FIRST DOWN RRRRRRRRRRRRRRROCKIES!" every other season at the Rock Pile 😂
  15. If I didn't loathe the Rockies so much, I'd almost feel bad that there are football atheltes on the basketball team that have yet to taste a victory in the 2021-2022 school year. That's almost unimaginable, especially at Plymouth. They have one last chance in the calendar year 2021 to win a game on 12/30 against 1A West Central who is 1-6. If they lose that game, they will likely play a winless Knox team in the consolation game that evening.
  16. Boys Basketball has a record of 8-44 in the last 2+ years... yeesh. I also do not recall any of their sports teams (boys or girls) doing all that well in the NLC the last few years.
  17. I wasn't asking you - and as @HHF stated, I did not say anything about winning a state title. I was just asking if @Old Man High Pants truly felt that one of the best Indiana high school coaches of all time could not win at "said" schools, would that not lead credence to the consideration of contracting/eliminating the football program at "said" schools? And I certainly do not disagree there is more to football than winning at the high school level. I would guess just about everyone on this board agrees on that.
  18. Playing devil's advocate here - if that is how you feel about those schools - that one of the best high school coaches to ever roam the sidelines in Indiana could not win at any of the four schools mentioned... shouldn't they consider contraction and eliminating football?
  19. I'd be willing to give it a shot. I use Excel all day every day with work. By no means am I an expert, but I'm not that bad either.
  20. Just want to make sure my additional $70 after the state finals was received/confirmed via Venmo. Thank you! @DK_Barons
  21. I am an active Tweeter on Friday night at the account sharing scores as I see and hear them, and go to it constantly on Friday's searching for updates. As well, I follow more people there posting updates of scores versus what I see on the pinned thread here. I would personally suggest only paying for it from August - November. I do not see much of a need for it throughout the rest of the year. Occasionally there is some good stuff that gets shared, but overally it is either pretty silent or as others posted, random responses.
  22. So with the winners of Lutheran, Andrean, Gibson Southern, Mt Vernon, Cathedral and Center Grove - @CLKeller16 and @MDAlum82 - that is $50 for me to donate to the GID, and $5 each for you thanks to Andrean. @Azi - with our modified "bet", I have $20 to donate to the GID, and you have $10 to donate. To donate - just click on the 2021-2022 - Budget box at the top of every page. Once you click on that, a box will pop up with how much you want to donate. Input your amount, then click "Donate". The next page will show you the options of paying by PayPal, Venmo, or check. Depending on what option you select - you will see each of those user names/addresses to send to. I just sent my $70 in via Venmo on top of my original $30 donation earlier in the year. Thanks for "playing"!
  23. I didn't even think about that as well. Mt Vernon's colors are black and gold, even more reason I wish the Raiders were wearing GREEN jerseys. But again, who cares lol
  24. I just had this thought earlier today. I REALLY wish the Raiders would come out in Green uniforms. While I like their black uniforms they wear nowadays, Northridge has always been Green and Yellow to me. Representing the high school at the state championship with black uniforms would just feel strange to me if I am being honest. But who cares, it won't have any affect on the game! Whatever the boys want to wear!
  25. Alright - I'm in for these three. @CLKeller16 and @MDAlum82 - for every North champion, you will donate $5. For every South champion, I will donate $10 (one "bet" for the each of you. @Azi - I accept your caveat! For every 1A-4A and 6A North champion or Cathedral victory, you will donate $5. For every 1A-4A and 6A South champion or Zionsville victory, I will donate $5. Thanks boys! Easy way to raise at least another $90 for the GID!
