  1. Spoken like someone who's never signed their name on the front of a pay check.
  2. It basically means that all athletes are being treated as "in school out of season". So limited contact as permitted by local corporations but they are able to participate with club teams and private instructors. I'm not aware of any travel organization that is having tournaments anywhere in the country right now. What shocked me was to caveat that if they can resume May 1, cutting the number of practices from 10 to 5, I never thought they would waiver on that number. In all fairness to the IHSAA I think they are doing everything in their power to have a spring sports season. Hats of too them for being flexible, holding out hope, and trying to salvage something out of the spring season. At this point I think it's a foregone conclusion spring sports aren't happening. Breaks my heart for all the seniors. All the preparation that has already been put in by the coaches, athletes, and officials, but as the old adage goes, play every game like it's your last, because it could be.
  3. To be such a strong character, Alpha's stint was pretty short lived. How is the story playing along with the comics? I suppose we're leading to a war with the Whisperers for a season ending cliff hanger?
  4. I am co-chair for the Softball All Star game, which we’ve held the last two years at IU. We received an email Friday stating IU has canceled all facilities rentals. It did say since our event is in late June there was a possibility it could be picked back up.
  5. Catching a little of the debate, serious question: Did the makeup people have a competition to see which candidate they could make look whiter? Aside from that, looked like a skit on SNL. Two old guys arguing over stuff from 25 years ago.
  6. I’m in Clearwater Beach, just left Publix, plenty of water, plenty of TP. I didn’t see any hand sanitizer but I didn’t really look. We walked around last night, while there were certainly people out and about, it was far from packed like you would expect. Friend of mine got tickets to Clearwater/St Pete for 21.40 yesterday on Spirit I believe out of Indy, bag was only 30 bucks. The sun is hot, the water is fine, why not take advantage. I think we’re going to plan a long weekend down here again next month.
  7. Eligibility is obviously an issue, springs sports were already in full swing. I think it's impossible to predict given the dynamics of this situation, literally changing by the hour. As far as the HS situation, it's very fluid as well. As things stand right now, most schools are looking at resuming classes 4/6. Given that date the earliest any contest could happen would be the third week of April. This thing appears to continue to grow, I just don't see schools returning by 4/6, I really think spring sports are in jeopardy. The IHSAA has now postponed the BB tournament. Postponed to me means we'll do it in a week or so, and that's just not going to happen. I think they're prolonging the inevitable.
  8. Big Ten has suspended all athletic activities until 4/6 and will re-evaluate at that time. Assuming other conferences are taking similar measures.
  9. Indiana High School Athletic Association To: Member School Principals and Athletic Administrators From: Bobby Cox, Commissioner Re: IHSAA Spring Sports Update Good morning. In light of concerns surrounding COVID-19 respective of IHSAA spring sports, I would like to provide the following considerations and clarity. Regular season contests are conducted at the discretion of our member schools. Currently, the guidance being provided by the State of Indiana allows for events with less than 250 individuals in attendance to be conducted. Local jurisdiction shall prevail with regard to whether contests in the regular season are conducted. Some schools in our state have closed and will implement extended break periods. Once students return to school, all provisions of Rule 9-14 - Practice Attendance to Participate in a Contest shall be enforced. This health and safety measure within the by-laws will not be waived. Should a previously scheduled contest fall before the completion of said separate days of practice, the contest must be rescheduled or cancelled. A decision on meeting a minimum number of contests to become eligible for IHSAA tournament series events will be made at a later date. At this time, the IHSAA is planning on staging all spring sport tournament series events as scheduled. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at your convenience.
  10. As I have stated several times, I have been involved in a couple of media stories, one of which garnered some national attention. The amount of misinformation, in some cases outright lies is astounding to me. To think at the very least the media isn't manipulative is sticking your head in the sand. And I know local media doesn't like to be tied into the CNN's/Fox/MSNBC's of the world, but they are just as culpable. I saw an article posted just last week on one of the Indy TV stations in regards to one of my stories, numerous fallacies to the point it was pretty much laughable in my opinion. Some of it is clearly incompetence, but some of it is clearly intentional. How else could you watch CNN and Fox coverage of the same story and get two completely different stories?
  11. My brother cruises out of NOLA. He has one scheduled at the end of this month, I was just about to text him to see what's up. Good luck man.
  12. No clearly the only factor leading to any of those crashes were Republican presidents.
  13. I'm curious if we have any administrators that read this board what their feeling is. My thoughts are after seeing the NCAA's move yesterday, after you lose the cash cow, cutting the losers gets real easy. NAIA has cancelled their winter sports tournaments, but are waiting on spring sports. My guess is this lies more in the hands of the principals/superintendents, and the IHSAA will take their cue from them. Personally I think I'll be doing more fishing this spring than any spring in recent memory.
  14. If it's a Disney cruise, it's already been cancelled. Disney has suspended operations thru the end of the month. They have a boat leaving Port Canaveral today returning Monday, two boats returning tomorrow, and they have another boat currently at sea returning next week. No boats leaving after today until April 1. I'm calling bullshit, I happen to know for a fact that Mrs. Lysander is a saint.
  15. Not according to this this article: https://dnyuz.com/2020/03/12/if-im-going-to-get-sick-and-die-i-might-as-well-do-it-at-disney-world/ While I haven't been to Disney in years, I have spent a fair amount of time in the area. There's usually a large contingent of Europeans, a lot of Germans in particular. So I guess those folks won't be there.
  16. Coronavirus will be a distant memory by August. Hopefully toilet paper supplies have returned to normal by then.
  17. Small win for IO today, cancelled the flights for the weekend trip, then rebooked same flights, and pocketed about $100.
  18. OK, first of all it's Chuck Schumer making a threat, is anyone really going to take that serious? But I get the point, had Mitch McConnell done the same thing, the media would lose their minds. It's pretty well known the most dangerous place in America is being between Chuck Schumer and a TV Camera.
  19. Since it's just the smokin hot wife and I and we buy TP at Sam's, we only buy TP about once or twice a year, and I just picked some up Monday, I'd say we're good. IO is not nearly as full of shit as some people would make him out to be!
  20. Seems odd though, administration over there is young, hungry, and seem to be all about building something. I don't know much about the local demographics, is that an issue? Assuming older more farm based type people in Aurora vs. what Lawrenceburg has attracted with the boat?
  21. Yet Lawrenceburg has had it for several years and EC added it last year. I'll be honest if they'd just put an escalator in to the field, I'd donate! That climb out of there after the game sucks!
  22. I have nearly pulled the trigger several times. I have plenty of empty cornfields right now to practice in. We see them all the time at the beach.
  23. Surely you jest! I saw some of it, truly heartbreaking to me that such nonsense still exists today.
