The team I would watch out for in a few years is Seymour. They came down here and beat 2 very good Highland Hills teams last night in 7th and 8th grade. I believe that Seymours 7th/8th also beat one of the Columbus Middle  Schools as well. They are undefeated. Sounds like Seymour has a lot coming up.

Seymour has some decent athletes in the 8th grade. I'm not sure how that translates into V wins in 3-4 years. Juniors and seniors are a long way from 7th and 8th graders, a lot of things change in those  years. I had SMS teams last week, and honestly I don't remember if they won, lost, or who they even played.

I think there was a unsportsmanlike foul on 4th down of the 1st OT, they carried the penalty over to their opportunity on offense.  They marched them off 15 and they started 1st and 10 on the 25 when it should have been 1st and Goal from the 25.  The chains do not come out for OT.  That is how I heard it...

I will add, A had 1st and 10 at the 25. A gained a first down and scored on what was actually their 7th play.

B failed to score in 4 downs, A wins after being giving three extra downs.

Now you're going to tick off A coach for not giving him a 1st and 10.... But a series starts 1st and Goal in OT.... A crew messed that up in the tournament last year....

I know them well. It cost them a sectional final.

Back when we were at another school, we used to just put a camera on top of a lift. The school just let us use it and we didn't have to spend $5,000 on a EZ camera. So there are other ways since some people are so concerned about spending money that's not theirs.

I think there are some liability issues with lifts and towers is the reason we don't see them anymore.

You can choose not to voice your opinion of certain matters.  I say that is what an internet message forum is for.

Can some football professional please educate me on exactly what new perspectives or competitive advantages an expensive end zone camera can bestow?

I LOVE the view. We've had three great EZ views of the last two games. All had very telling views of calls. I hope everybody gets ones, and include that view with what they share with IFOA. In fact, maybe they'll save their pennies and buy two, so we have one in each EZ!

What gives A the ability for a new set of downs?  Would we view it the same way as a punt where R touches the ball beyond the neutral zone and K gets to keep possession with a new set of downs?  If so, I agree with your assumption of starting on the 2.5 instead of the 5.

    12-5

5-2-1: The offensive team shall be awarded a new series of downs when any one of the following occurs:

    a. Offensive team recovers a scrimmage kick (field-goal attempt) between the goal lines after it has been touched first by the defensive team beyond the neutral zone.

    b. Defensive team is guilty of roughing the kicker, place-kick holder, snapper or passer.

The only problem I have is that the crew told us the defender needed to be prone on the ground.  They agreed that he was on a knee.  This call cost us nothing in terms of the game outcome.  But this crew could cause someone a game. I just think it is a simple call that they totally missed and have a poor understanding of its interpretation.

Must still be in Softball mode, defensive player must be prone on the ground in order to jump over.

  8. Perhaps you should start on North Meridian?

The IHSAA currently has a huge Title IX issue with their new (now in it's second year) limited contact rule. Boy Basketball currently gets two more weeks of instruction than their female counterparts. Baseball players get one extra week than their softball playing classmates. Over the course of a four year career, boys basketball players are receiving and 32 more hours of instruction than their female peers.

I will admit to playing the Title IX card to get lights at our Softball diamond, when every other venue at the school had them, and we didn't.

  9. The biggest issue I see with sending info via the sports chairs is the fact there are crews out there working who don't work the tournament and don't attend meetings or are even members of an association.

We were also relayed another email where crews made some really bonehead decisions on their own and didn't allow kids to play in games for various correctable issues. I would venture to crews making such decisions aren't the crews who are members of associations and attending the meetings.

The story linked is almost a month old, but over 100 shots were fired in South Bend over the weekend. A bunch were simply fired into some homes.....It really is bad in South Bend

That's 13 minutes I'll never get back. Doesn't answer anything, canned responses, the dude is slick, I'll give him that.
