Wow! a 1 in 100,000 chance of getting anything useful surely doesn't warrant an investment in pylon cameras at the high school level. Endzone cameras on the other hand are a home run for the money invested.

    Wondering about drones...................

Drones may not be used during IHSAA events.

Great point. Assuming that blocking and tackling are equal between two teams, at some point technology use comes into play. If both teams have endzone and sideline cameras, but only team A has a pylon camera, team A could win due to that advantage.

The NFL thinks otherwise, at least with regards to pylon cams.

  4. This is going to be quite the quandary for the yuppie Starbucks crowd. Apparently the pumpkin spice latte has a history of racism and genocide.

On the bright side of things, after your morning dose of guilt, it doesn't appear there's actually any nutmeg in the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte.

    Ingredients

Milk, Pumpkin Spice Sauce [Sugar, Condensed Skim Milk, Pumpkin Puree, Contains 2% Or Less Of Fruit And Vegetable Juice For Color, Natural Flavors, Annatto, Salt, Potassium Sorbate], Brewed Espresso.

  5. Jarts were not banned by law, the sale was banned by the Consumer Product Safety Agency. From what I can see there have been three deaths from Jarts. Originally the ban, merely banned them as being labeled as children's toys. In 1988 they were not allowed to be sold. Manufacturers have skirted the law since, but selling components separately. I did find one incident in Elkhart, IN in 1997 where a 7 year old had his skull pierced by a Lawn Dart. No word on whether he survived or not.

This ban, merely bans the retail sale of Lawn Darts. If I have Jarts in my possession, men with guns are not going to come to my house and steal my legally purchased possession.

Do Officiating Crews ever purchase endzone cameras to evaluate their crew's performance?

Sometimes we get the EZ view from the schools. While I love the EZ view, it's really that advantageous for us. We did get EZ views this week, in the process of going thru them now.

Thank you for sharing this information. I wonder what kind they are using?

Also Rod Smith Fort Wayne Harding

I have no idea, they were on the other side of the rope:

    1. I don't venture to the other side of the rope.

    2. While I have great vision, it ain't good enough to read labels on tiny cameras 20' in the air on the other side of the rope.

The problems with timing under the Mercy Rule  I’m hearing about most are easily fixable. But one thing I’ve noticed is that when you ask the crew chief if he went over the Mercy Rule timing procedures with the clock operator prior to the game, he didn’t. Curiously, that’s true even though they did meet with the clock operator in the pregame. I know the IHSAA put together a very clear guide on how the Mercy Rule is implemented, and sent it to every school. But don’t assume the clock operator from your game got it, or read it, or understood it. Make that part of your pregame meeting on timing procedures.

We have gone over the mercy rule with both clock operators, as well as leaving them a paper copy.

Just saw this man. Idk how I missed it.

Point blank. We did not play well in the 1st half.

Played better in the 2nd half after I’m sure a (very encouraging) halftime rant. Our Tailback is terrific. Still have to get better in areas but like every team, I am sure they’ll work on it.

The interesting thing, is of the quartet of FC, BNL, NA, and Jeff, which team will improve the MOST before October? That is the benchmark for the HHC outside of East.

So East has already won the conference and FC, BNL, NA, and Jeff will battle for second place.....depending of course on who improves the most before October?
