Two questions:  If a punt hits the pylon and goes into the end zone, is that a touchback or out of bounds at the one?

Also, last night's OT possessions, in Ohio,  started at the 20 yard line instead of the 10 yard line.  Is this an Ohio rule or a national rule?

    Punt hits the pylon, TB.

Consult the Gold Book, lol. NFHS is four downs from the 10.

    Floyd 28

    Vincennes Lincoln 12

Floyds Defense deserves MVP for this game. 6 Interceptions and 1 for a TD. A lot to work on still. But I’ll take the win.

How did Crenshaw look for PC?

Oh, and great job. That’s a heck of a team you all played.

Impressive physical specimen. Big, strong, athletic. Tough to tell, PC was pretty vanilla offensively. Nice young man, very courteous, yes sir, no sir. I wasn’t able to really see any passes.

We are possibly looking for a JV game this coming Monday 9/9.... please PM me with interest or if you know of someone interested.

Also... we should start posting JV scores.

this past Saturday... BC 27 CT20 (great game all around and a perfect day for football, to be fair... all days are perfect for football)

We weren't able to play against Corydon's JV team the prior week because of rain? I think? Not sure.

    What are some other scores?

Couldn't tell you the score of either of the varsity games I've seen this year.......

The student section has been embarrassing to me for almost a decade now. We literally have one of the quietest in the state and opposing student sections that are 1/10th the size of ours manage to be louder than ours. Makes sense that Newell is the culprit and that really disappoints me. Glad to know the students don't actually suck but are merely restricted. It's just hard for me to sit there with a quiet student section knowing how ridiculously loud and over-the-top we were back when I was a student there in the mid-2000s. There were a few times we even got in trouble for taking things a wee bit too far. Lol. @Olympian06 can confirm this as well.

OK, way back in my day, in Basketball season WTTV 4 used to have the Tuesday night game of the week on TV. I think I was a junior and we played at Shelbyville. Not sure if we won or not, but our BS chant was clearly audible on the TV. One of my prouder moments in high school.

Louder for the people in the back!!! It's if someone's feelings get hurt. They'll survive.

Not sure what it's like now, but when I was involved, Seymour's may have been one of the worst. I know they both (AD and assistant AD) got tired of listening to me complain about their stupid restrictions on students.

  6. Honestly I don't see what all the hub bub over this Wal Mart thing is.

    1. Wal Mart hasn't sold hand guns in the lower 48 that I am aware of.

    2. Local store typically has a lousy selection of guns, I would never consider buying a gun there.

    3. Locally I may have bought some bulk shot gun shells from them in the past, but their selection of ammo is less than stellar, and the pricing is not that attractive.

    4. They have asked people not to open carry, so what? You can still carry. Most folks don't open carry anyway.

    5. Patronize your local gun shop, patronize your local businesses period. They're part of your community. Any big box is one bad quarter away from closing up.

The subject of unconscious bias on the part of sports officials is a fair one, and numerous studies have shown that it exists under certain circumstances. It’s part of the home field advantage. Because it’s unconscious, it’s difficult to find a way to overcome it, although this study suggests that it diminishes with the experience of the officials involved.

I literally lol’d when they made the statement was made about sideline cameras.

Referees being held accountable for their mistakes and explaining so that we don't assume bias.

If my favorite head coach has to sit there and justify to the media why he chose to pass on 4th and 1, why shouldn't the referee have to explain specifically what he saw in order to throw a bogus pass interference flag that cost my team 15 yards and set the opposing team up for the winning field goal.

THAT is what I would hope to be gained.

How do you know they're not being held accountable? The officials you see on TV are calling/not calling what they're told to call/not call. If they don't, they won't be there long. I believe it was last year two officials were fired by the NFL during the season which is not unprecedented, but it is highly unusual. The Big Ten fired an entire crew in the last couple of years. In my opinion, officials should not be part of the story, it's about the two teams playing the game, but I know that's not always the case.

So let me ask you this, suppose this SOB who made this bogus call against "your" team and "cost them the game" gets grilled by the media and is held accountable, how does that make you feel better about the loss? How does that change anything? Or is it you just get to feel better because the media will get their pound of flesh?

    https://100percentfedup.com/video-muslim-7-eleven-employee-washes-feet-in-store-sink-at-prayer-time-5-times-a-day/

A shocking video was posted on social media showing a man washing his feet in the sink right next to the coffee machine at a Roseville, Michigan 7-11. This sink is right in the middle of the store and is meant for washing hands, according to WXYZ News. The crazy thing is the man is an employee at the 7-eleven on Gratiot and 13 Mile Road in Roseville.

The sink is across from a grill station and right next to the coffee machine.

According to WXYZ, there is debate on whether this is ok to do in the store…A debate??? Some people even came to the defense of this 7-Eleven employee!

Emily Divel recorded the video and posted it to social media: “As I walked in I could hear him loudly spitting in the sink.” Divel said he then put his foot in the sink.WXYZ  News confronted the employee who said it was a religious practice:

The employee said he’s Muslim and it’s mandatory he clean his feet, arms, and face at least five times a day.

Clash of cultures? An @7eleven employee caught washing his feet in an online video. He told me it’s a religious practice. I’ll have his explanation tonight on @tv20detroit & @wxyzdetroit. Thoughts?

    Embedded video

    -Eleven released a statement:

“We take the cleanliness of 7-Eleven stores very seriously so thank you for making us aware of this incident and allowing us to investigate this matter.

    State health inspectors are investigating.

OK - SF is really ok with freedom of religion and would normally empathize and maybe even assist with a person's desire to worship or otherwise recognize their deity or observe a custom........But I would HAVE to draw the line here.......Thank god I don't eat 7-11 food......I have had their coffee however.......

    Image result for ewww meme

There's a 7-11 I frequent in Cocoa Beach right across the street from Sam Sheppard Park, the only thing I've ever purchased there are refrigerated cans and ice.....I'll make a note of it though.

Sorry for my ignorance - but is there anything remotely close that I may be misunderstanding as to why we would have been flagged then?

TEAM A is huddled. It is determined late in the play clock that the right personnel is not the huddle....player A from TEAM A is sent in and the huddle breaks,  player A removes Player B, but ref throws a flag as player B  is running to the sideline.

Is this just an incorrect enforcement of the officials part??

I didn't see what happened and don't care to comment on it. As @JustRules said, a replaced player has 3 seconds to begin to leave the field. The foul is illegal substitution. The situation you describe I've seen happen many times, if the replaced player begins to leave in a timely manner (no I don't do a count, I'm not going to split hairs was it 2.8 seconds or was it 3.4), we let it go.

I don't believe so.  But at the college and professional levels, I have always had a problem with the coaches and players being required to do post game press conferences and interviews to justify their decisions whereas by the time those press conferences are taking place, the referees are already on a plane ride home.

I know it is a thankless position and most of them are part time employees, but if others participating in the game have to face the music, refs should have to as well.

What do you hope to be gained by that?

Other than coaches rating officials for the tournament, is there any other type of accountability for a referees performance?

When I was coaching, I kept pretty detailed notes on officials I had, mainly for voting purposes. If I ran across an official I didn't think was very good, I just didn't hire them at home. Of course you have no control over who you get on the road or in the tournament. I'm not sure there's much else you can do. I have told a couple of lower level coaches over the years to tell their AD to NEVER hire me again.

Wait wait wait wait.....breaking the huddle with 12 is no longer a penalty??? Has this been communicated with officiating crews? We were flagged on Friday night for I'm pretty sure this exact thing.

It never has been under NFHS rules.

Franklin Community used one during a 7v7/scrimmage this past summer.  Great angle.  When behind the offense, it's similar to the Madden video game view than an end zone camera.  Lutheran gets the same angle for all summer 7v7/scrimmages using a camera mounted on a 16' swimming pool pole.

Aside from the safety regulations (which make drones a non-starter for football), the power requirements would make them cost prohibitive.  Top-end consumer drones have a max flight time of about 15 minutes per battery pack.  You'd need somewhere between 6-8 battery packs in order to capture a game.  This just isn't practical.

Not according to @hhpatriot04 Spend and win!
