I think in our case, we have been split too.  By having that extra person out there, you can be setting yourself up for something odd to happen.  I am of the mind to kill it so that kind of thing doesn't happen.  12 on A we can easily make a false start, 12 on B would be a little more difficult to come up with something.

A only had 10 on the field, the sub made 11.

It's one of those things where it may not meet the exact definition of a false start, but nothing good is going to come of it so you may be better off killing it and calling it a false start. It's different than a player going in motion toward the the line of scrimmage or an illegal shift because everyone didn't get reset after moving. This would definitely be a live ball foul for something (illegal shift because all 11 players weren't set prior to the snap...illegal sub only if he came in right before the snap) so just kill it and prevent anything else more stupid from happening. Use the God rule if anyone questions what you did.

This is my point, we have two good officials, with two different interpretations. Bob I assume is saying let it go, and you're saying kill it. Lemonnier and his host came to no conclusion about it, the play in question had no flag on it, and their main point was there had to be a flag for something. In the play there was a pass that was intercepted by B.

  3. ? Some tried to make the argument that he was moving towards the LOS and claimed a false start.

This is one of the first 12-15 plays on the 19 Lemonier video, there was even some discussion on the tape about blowing it dead or letting it go, which spurred further discussion with us.

My contention it does not meet the criteria for a false start. Regardless of whether you want to call illegal sub, illegal motion, or illegal shift, all of those require the ball to be snapped to be fouls. I’m going with illegal substitution and I’m letting the play go, had the ball not been snapped he could have gotten inside the nine yard mark and assumed a legal position. Am I wrong?

  4. A has 10 players on O, with seven lineman. Sub A21 enters the field a A’s side of the ball and A snaps the ball prior to A21 reaching the nine yard mark. The discussion at our meeting was do you let the play go, or blow it dead at the snap. My contention is you have to let it go, because the ball has to be snapped for this to be a foul. Several disagreed that even though it’s a foul at the snap, you blow it dead. Thoughts?

While I am not a supporter of anything the Kochs do or have done, I will never celebrate when someone passes. Any celebration will be reserved for a celebration of the life that has been lost, like family or close friends. But the celebration is toasting the great memories and stories to be told.

When my wife and I left the funeral home after my father's viewing, I made the comment "you know there were a lot more stories told, and laughs shared, than there were tears shed". At the end of the day, that's what it's all about.

Still?  That I do not know.

Up until 2015, we at KV did under then HFB Coach, Brad Stewart.

As @hhpatriot04 says, "The 16 Blast (line follows FOIL blocking scheme, TE seals first backer inside of him, FB/playside RB blast the DE, playside RB takes another playside backer/SS/Rover, and the QB has three running lanes (over the DE's face, a slight inside cut between the DT and DE, or one-one-one in space against a corner back. QB has a reverse pivot, giving the backside RB two steps to get in front of the QB."

At KV, we ran something very similar to this (our's was 34 blast w/ slightly differing blocking rules).

Our 1st game as a staff together, we ran 34 blast something like 30-40 times.  Our RB had something over 300 yards rushing (maybe closer to 400) and we never threw the ball once.  We prevailed 49-39.  That was one of my all time favorite games to coach.

Well when you throw the ball one of three things can happen, and two of them are bad.

Remember the line “if you can remember the 1960s, you weren’t really there”? It got support Tuesday from the Democratic presidential front-runner, born 1942.

According to a video posted by the Republican National Committee “war room,” former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, campaigning in Iowa on Tuesday, placed two of the 1960s most iconic events — the weeks-apart assassinations of Robert Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King — in the wrong decade.

“When Bobby Kennedy and Dr. King had been assassinated in the 70s, the late 70s when I got engaged,” he said in the run-up to making a point about how times have changed.

Mr. Biden did at least place his engagement in the right decade — he married first wife Neilia Hunter in 1966.

And he is the top democrat?

IO, that's interesting, thanks for sharing. I've always wondered once you are a coach or an official are you able to watch a game through a fans eyes anymore? One other question when you are calling a game which involves a "superstar" do you ever get caught up in that individuals performance, such as thinking, Wow! I'm probably never going to see anything like this again?

It definitely changes the way you watch a game. Even watching a game on TV, I often find myself counting offensive players in the huddle, looking for subs coming in, and once the line up looking at the formation to make sure they're legal, checking numbers positions, etc.

The superstar.....sadly unless he's the QB, the LG, or one of the defensive rushers, I probably won't see much of him. I often here the BJ or wing talk about these spectacular plays down field, and I never see them.  In fact many times I don't know whether the ball is dropped or caught. You have your keys, then your area of responsibility, and that's your sole focus.

I have asked about the endzone cameras in a number of different conference topics. I am looking forward to seeing if they are used more by big schools or if it is evenly spread out in schools of differing size. I think it would depend on fund raising and budget numbers.

We see a wide variety of conferences from little to big. I honestly can't remember any specifics, I just know we're seeing more and more of the.

FWIW, back when the Colts played at the RCA Dome, they had 5 buck tickets upstairs in the EZ. At the time we had season tickets about the GL on the home side on the east end. Upstairs EZ was hands down my favorite place to watch.

  10. We see more and more of them. As far as specific schools, I really don't remember. I have always LOVED the EZ view, I love it when schools include the EZ view when they share with us on Hudl. We had a film last year that was cut up with Side long, side tight, and EZ, so each play played three times, one with each view. I love it. Takes a little longer to get thru, but so much more to see.

Offense has ball and is up 7 near the end of game.  Def has 2 timeouts.  Offense elects to "take a knee".  We teach our kids to rush the Q live, but not hit him if he drops a knee.  To force him down quick if you will, by pressuring him.  The idea being, he can't milk extra seconds by standing there after the snap.

How do officials handle to amount of time a QB has to take a knee before he loses any protection?

If he QB tells me he's taking a knee, I always tell him not to mess around, go down.

My observation: Charlestown tries to “win” a scrimmage. If they want to try to beat Floyd Central, then why not start a series with them? I have no idea about how these seasons will go for these teams. But it’s hard to say they are “evenly matched” when Charlestown never takes their starters out. Floyds Starters played 10 plays total.

I beg to differ, you are accusing them of cheating per the rules of the scrimmage. And I wasn’t there, but I would be willing to bet FC’s starters played more than 10 plays.
