  1. Wont be making any trip to Indy from Mishawaka this weekend, so I am enjoying the games from the comfort of my home.... Well work right now.
  2. Go with recent success factor. Elkhart is in disarray right now. Move them down to 5A, and maybe they can figure it out there. Personally I would love to see Valpo, Merrillville, Snider and Mishawaka all in 6A.
  3. This is a wonderfully entertaining football game.
  4. Could you imagine a 6A sectional 2 with Penn, Warsaw, Carroll and Snider... Woof However it likely would not happen. I could see them pushing Carmel or one of the schools around that line down into the south and dropping Snider in sectional 3.
  5. I know we aren't playin....but can we please bring back the gold pants.....I hate our black on black look. download.jfif
  6. Could you imagine people who paid for those tv advertising spots not getting their promised slots...oh boy that would be a nightmare in the office the next day...
  7. Man, today is the day, can Snider add to their storied tradition or can pull off the big one. I think this will be a close game. Even though I am a Penn fan I love Snider football. My bias says Snider 27 Decatur Central 20
  8. If Penn and Mishawaka had their game in the last week of the season like they used to, I think Penn's margin of victory would either be the same if not a score larger. The game was at Penn, and both teams got better, I don't think Mishawaka got 21 point better and Penn stayed the same. Snider walked into hostile territory with limited experience with their opponent. Penn has the advantage of seeing their opponents style of play many times before.
  9. I agree, but, based on Penn's performances in State finals games since the coaching change in 2003, 2015 was the closest we have come to sniffing a state championship... We got a waft of that sweet goodness...but that is it....the other three attempts were just f'ing dreadful...outscored 174 - 21 I also would like to point out that most teams didn't even come close to beating any of those teams those three years. But, that does not excuse Penn's lack of, well, anything those three nights.
  10. So, if you had to take apply an Indy based HS with an SEC team, who do you associate them with? Georgia - Center Grove Florida - Warren Central Tennessee - Carmel Missouri - HSE Kentucky - Fishers S. Carolina - LN Vandy - North Central Bama - Ben Davis LSU - Cathedral A&M - Brownsburg Miss St. - LC Auburn - Chatard Ole Miss - Westfield Arkansas - Pike
  11. You almost have to do the horizontal division line above Indy or in North Indy. That gives the state more southern representation. I think
  12. So, if I ran this style of event, it would be invitation based. Based on our current formation But, I would have two tournaments. The first tournament is 4-6A including Chatard and the second is 1-3A schools. I personally think that Chatard has dominated the small school scene consistently enough to be playing amongst the bigger schools. How I would prefer it to be, 5 classes, success factor still in effect. (this moves Chatard up into 4A Cathedral becomes a permanent member of 5A) The tournaments would be 4A & 5A and the other would be 1A through 3A. Both are invitation based. Now, you may not get the top 8 teams every year...because it is an invitational. But, I assume there will be schools, players and coaches that will be interested in competing at this level.
  13. I am not discounting the accomplishments these young men are having in their individual sports... However they cannot do everything on the field. Penn exposed massive holes in their defensive secondary. Ben Davis consistently have competed against the best teams in the state, they have seen everything CP is going throw their way. I am not saying CP wont be successful, but I don't expect them to catch BD flat footed, especially when BD has been in these caliber of games almost every week of the playoffs. I assume CP was rocking last weekend, but at Penn....we were dead silent for most of the game. The only stress put on the CP players was either from themselves or from Penn's play on the field. If Penn can put CP under stress, I expect BD to have them even greater amounts stress.
  14. While a couple of players on the CP team can handle the pressure, they cannot block, catch, run, pass the ball and they cannot take on blocks, guard or tackle every player on the field. These two guys have to rely on the other 9 to not be overwhelmed by the moment. Another note... CP has found ways to win, in very tough games. If BD can throw the ball downfield and give CP more than one formation to look at....I think BD will control the game via the air. Penn ran at most 5 formations against CP... (that is I believe over by 3 formations) CP really struggled when Penn went 5 wide.
  15. Until the 2017 Ben Davis team came along that was the best football team to play in Indiana. Snider would have probably been a better match up for Warren that year, however they just got womped by Penn the week prior. It sucks, it sucked watching the game, but it is what it is.
  16. Those teams help when it comes to adjusting to speed and physicality. I agree 100% with all of this.
  17. I am good with that.
  18. go back to 5 classes and still have some sort of understandable success factor system. You will see which schools want to compete in the biggest class and which teams don't.
  19. I did not pay attention to high school basketball at that time.
  20. Makes sense I was 10 at the time.
  21. Interesting, I don't remember that. When did Indiana go to the class system in Basketball?
  22. It should be an invitation not a mandate. I don't think you should have to play in this tournament if you don't want to. According to some fans on the EC v Northwood thread would find it to be worth the challenge. Most of these teams are highly rated nationally. There is a legitimate chance that the winner could end in the top 10 of the national rankings. Some years this tournament would have resulted in a potential "national title" Most of the teams that would be considered for this tournament would be repeat invitation recipients. BD, CG, Cathedral etc would likely be considered or up for consideration yearly.
  23. The reason I was hesitant to give CP the full on push into the final 8, was because of the unknown at the end of the regular season. Now, yes easily they are in the final 8. I kept Cathedral in because, even though they had 3 losses their largest loss was by 14 to Brownsburg. Even though their record doesn't show it, they are one of the best 8 teams in the state. You do have a point that regular season results have to mean something....I didn't consider Penn to even be near this group, they played a good non-conference schedule but their conference situation is poor. their 8-1 finish is a little bloated. Now, they played 2 top 25 Sag rated teams and went 1-1 against them. They played 1 top 35 sag rated team and won that game. To me that does not scream worthy of being considered in the discussion. Valpo and The Ville I would have look at separately.
