  1. To get thumped again by the southern 6A Semi State winner? :)
  2. Westfield now travels to Fishers next week. The Rocks had an easy 46-12 win at Fishers just a month ago. I would think that the rematch will be much closer.
  3. I realize that Westfield blew out Fishers at Fishers, but after tonight, putting up 44 on HSE, it will be a challenge for Westfield to win this one.
  4. Westfield 35 Zionsville 13 Westfield up 28-0 at half, returns the second half kickoff all the way back for a 35-0 running clock game. Westfield plays subs the rest of the game. Zionsville kept some starters in, including Eugene Hilton. Westfield lost their best receiver for the second time in three weeks. Gabe Ambroles was knocked out of the Franklin Central game with a leg injury. He dressed, but was not needed in the rout of Lafayette Harrison last week. Then in the 1st quarter tonight, after a long pass reception, is knocked out of bounds in almost the exact same spot as two weeks ago. He was on the sideline on crutches the remainder of the game. Westfield plays the HSE at Fishers winner.
  5. True. That was one of the three times that Westfield went for it on 4th and goal. This one he was stopped short. Same with one other time. I do believe that if Melvin is in the game in the 4th, they may well have won and be undefeated at this time.
  6. Well, Zionsville was right in our conference game here in September until the 4th qtr. I also look for HSE to take out Fishers, and our conference game with them went to OT. Maybe the loss at Brownsburg was a good thing, because that game was right there for the taking, but they just didn't get it done. Who knows!
  7. Especially if they have to travel down this way. I'd assume it would be a Friday night game like last year, and not moved to Saturday? By the way, is that a decision made by the home team, both schools agreement, or an IHSAA decision as to what day those long road trip games are played. I remember when Westfield played at Tell City for a 2A Semi-State. That game was moved to a late afternoon Saturday start.
  8. Westfield scored all 49 points in the first half. Seven offensive possessions, 7 TDs. The Rocks only threw 7 passes the entire game, two for TDs. No starters played in the second half. Just about everyone other than the cheerleaders played. Looks like the same for CG, all but one score was before halftime, although in that game, CG did have two first half defensive TDs.
  9. 301 more rushing yards by HSE. You would think they would have controlled the clock and Homestead would have needed quick strikes to score.
  10. Zioinsvillle scores a TD on the last play of regulation to pull wiithini 28-27. Eugine Hilton, TY's son, from the wildcat formation, runs in the two point conversion. Zionsville goes to Westfield, Carmel goes home 29-28.
  11. I'll switch your Carmel/Zionsville pick. Don't think this Eagles team has enough for Carmel, even when they are down. I have not a lot of info on Columbus N, but playing at home, and after seeing FC get thrashed at Westfield two weeks ago, I'm not sure this game will be that close. Sitting there watching Westfield dominate, I was trying to think how in the heck FC was able to beat HSC.
  12. Westfield has already made arrangements for a charter flight if that happens :)
  13. In this case, the color guy for WNDY TV23 was former high school coach Lance Scheib. I would assume after all of those years coaching high school football at Lebanon, Franklin Central, and Noblesville, he just might know a little about the rules.
  14. They are a Jesuit prep school. Always have been, from what I remember.
  15. The reason why the QB had to come out for one play was his helmet also came off as a result of the sack. For me, that's another reason why the refs call on this play was incorrect. Helmet off means that the play is automatically dead, fumble or no fumble, correct? Play dead means game over, Danville wins.
  16. There were a lot of bad times for these officials. The game almost lasted 3 1/2 hours! Lots of them going off and discussing plays. It's too bad that the white hat that was supposed to do the game was injured and they put in what looks to be a last minute replacement that had never been in that role in the past.
  17. I read today two things that I had not seen or known about that play. One, the QB's helmet apparently came off as he was going down. That there should have been a play stoppage, in other words, game over since it was 4th down. Second, the "white hat" official was not the normal one for that crew. The normal one was ill, injured, not sure what, and this game was this guys first time wearing the white hat. I do agree that this game was very poorly officiated. I mean, it took well over three hours for a one overtime game. Many huddles between officials before a call or non call was made.
  18. I had not considered this until I saw Day, the Ohio State coach, get flagged in today's game against Nebraska for a sideline warning after he got on the field and threw his headset after a call against his team that he didn't care for. Maybe the high school and college sideline warning rules are different?
  19. In my observation, and not as an official, but it sure looked like the QB was down, so game over. If you said there was no whistle, then there probably should have been one. One of my issues with this is that the flag was not thrown until the Brebeuf coaches came out on the field and started pointing to the Danville bench. And wern't some Brebeuf players also on the field? So offsetting penalties? Then the officials huddled for several minutes before finally throwing a flag. By that time there should have been no call. Just a totally messy ending to what had been a fabulous finish to the game.
  20. And the game tool about 3:15 to play!
  21. I'm not sure what they called. There was not a mike on the ref, at least on that play. The officials had a discussion before even throwing a flag. Lasted for several minutes. Needless to say, the Danville staff was really upset.
  22. Danville kid who had the Pick 6 should have given himself up before he crossed the goal line. Only 14 seconds were left, Brebeuf only had two timeouts out, so Danville takes three knees and the game is over. Hard for a kid that age though to not take it to the house.
  23. Agree! The play looked to be over when Danville sacked the Brebeuf QB on the 4th down of the OT. The players that did come on the field did not come on that far, and as the announcers said, they had no impact on the game. Looked like a total screw job by the refs.
  24. So landlock, that is, no room to grow, is the main reason that Greenwood is not nearly as good as Center Grove? I've always wondered why that was since both schools would appear to be drawing from the same area.
  25. Because all of the 1A privates have been success factored up :)
