I was as excited about the new playoff format as anyone, but my one fear was that it would devalue the regular season and conference championship games and here we are… The 4th place Big Ten team, who wanted its coach fired as recently as seven weeks, ago just ran the table. Has the feel of March Madness more so then a regular season that matters… which is what used to make college football unique. Now I will say I was intrigued by the ACC’s recent proposal… 1/2 play conference championship weekend for the auto bid but have two more games for CFP/an additional data point. 3/6 and 4/5.

You act as if I insulted the man’s character…I am simply referring to the product on the field. Wins and losses. Agree or not, high school football (and many other sports) have become cutthroat and are following the college model, particularly at larger schools. Sure there are stories off of the field that many folks don’t know but my message is regarding the product on the field. Both winning and developing young men of high character can be accomplished but also can be independent of one another. Don’t doubt he did the latter but the proof is in the pudding as it relates to the former.

REAL: Warren Central has won 9 state championships in football and the expectation/standard is that they compete for state titles annually. This is not what I "believe" rather what every person in Warren Township would tell you. ALSO REAL: Mike Kirschner never advanced past the regional and was 26-19 in his tenure as Warren Central head coach. Not sure what we are debating here.

How would one go about “re-seeding?” Would that give teams incentive to “step on the gas” and run up the score in order to shift perceptions and gain as high of a seed for the next round as possible? If you can’t use 12-13 games to seed teams accordingly, what’s one more gonna tell you?
