  1. Sectional is right around the corner. Seems this season has flown by. MSC Sectionals 23 (4A) 32 (3A) and 39 (2A) and PLAC Sectionals 40 and 48 look fairly competitive. What's everyone's thoughts at this point? I'm not sure there is a clear favorite in either one except maybe East Central in 23. NH has the size and style to go head to head with Heritage Hills in 32 and Charlestown has yet to play to their full potential I believe. 39 looks to be shaping up as a rematch between Btown and Triton Central. Valley will likely have their hands full with Providence being the hot team in 48. Paoli has a good chance of moving out of 40. Would be great to representation from both conferences in regional this year and it looks as if that could be a possibility. Pairings happen Oct 8. Can be streamed on https://www.ihsaatv.org/

  4. Realistically producing a good basketball team and football team are 2 very different things and not comparable at all. 2A football is very competitive in this area. Their conference is getting stronger and and the sectional is tough. They've never had a chance to build off of regular season success. Winning helps cure a lot of problems.

  9. I'm not sure I have ever understood this argument. I've played and coached on both surfaces. Not one time did one team play on turf while the other had to play on grass. If it makes one team faster, it proportionally makes the other team faster.

  11. In the Head Coach Openings thread it appears Corydon Central is also open.
  12. If you really can't understand the demographic difference between public and private schools, I suggest you sign up to be a substitute at a couple nearby public schools for a couple reasons. One, they probably are in dire need of subs and two, it will not take long for your eyes to be opened.
  13. How in the world does a team have 12 players and not one single coach, including the ones up on the press box, not scream their heads off at the officials to bring it to their attention. Is it a penalty? Sure is. Would it have helped them have a better chance of winning? Sure could have. Did it decide the outcome of the game? Maybe. Unfortunately, the game is over. I see no way of a game being replayed because of this. That would be a terrible precedent to set. I'm not saying I wouldn't be very upset to see this if I was on staff at CP. You trust the crews at tournament time to be on point, but I'd be a little more upset and a bit embarrassed that no one on our sidelines caught it.
  14. Sadly, it does look like this will be the last week for MSC/PLAC.

  18. These situations you describe are the same that I thought of in being the only possibilities for the defensive team to score. Sometimes scenarios are written into rules because they can happen, no matter how unlikely. What a way to lose a ball game.
  19. Still getting used to the new youth league situation here. Good to see our county representing well in their respective conferences. The MSC youth league finished up last week. Both of the Salem upper division teams finished 6-0 this year. Exciting group of kids to be around.

  21. The only difference I can imagine would be continuity. If it's part of every play then it's part of the game plan. I've seen plenty of flexbone teams that peg and have quick motion. If you only pull it out oh 3 or 4th and short then it is deceiving and clearly intended to cause the defense to jump.
  22. Not intending to remove judgement at all. I believe officials have an incredibly difficult job. You know rules better than anyone on the sidelines and I fully understand when and why judgment comes in to play. I was just elaborating on the scenario jets gave with a very specific scenario. It's what I have seen the most of in the past.
  23. In the video I do not see 5 players with number 50-79 on the line. Also a procedure call. The snap occurs before everyone is set. This seems to be a remix of the A11...
