These situations you describe are the same that I thought of in being the only possibilities for the defensive team to score. Sometimes scenarios are written into rules because they can happen, no matter how unlikely. What a way to lose a ball game.

Still getting used to the new youth league situation here. Good to see our county representing well in their respective conferences. The MSC youth league finished up last week. Both of the Salem upper division teams finished 6-0 this year. Exciting group of kids to be around.

Victory Formation... When is enough ENOUGH with the Defense?
cloudofdust replied to Yuccaguy's question in Officiating Forum
The only difference I can imagine would be continuity. If it's part of every play then it's part of the game plan. I've seen plenty of flexbone teams that peg and have quick motion. If you only pull it out oh 3 or 4th and short then it is deceiving and clearly intended to cause the defense to jump. -
Victory Formation... When is enough ENOUGH with the Defense?

Not intending to remove judgement at all. I believe officials have an incredibly difficult job. You know rules better than anyone on the sidelines and I fully understand when and why judgment comes in to play. I was just elaborating on the scenario jets gave with a very specific scenario. It's what I have seen the most of in the past. -
In the video I do not see 5 players with number 50-79 on the line. Also a procedure call. The snap occurs before everyone is set. This seems to be a remix of the A11...

Lineman peg on hard SET, Hard count with a quick motion on 3rd and 4 with no play intended to run. To my understanding the hard count alone isn't a foul but mixing hard or quick actions could be a foul, given the specific scenario. Am I close? -

I remember reading about this. If it lands on the 3 yard line and nobody touches it what happens? If treated the same as a punt would it be declared dead and spotted on the 3? If it goes out of bounds at the 5 is that where the ball is spotted? Aside from the higher possibility of a kick being blocked if the snap is at normal 7 yards (although that distance can be extended if desired) and the lower trajectory as well as being a little harder to cover what other disadvantages are there? Seems like the place kick could be more accurately kicked if you have a good kicker. Could be a good weapon if used correctly.

Just a 5 hour bus ride...

I can appreciate this opinion, but I definitely do not agree with it. There is as close to zero chance as you can get that SC will ever drop from 4A. Proportionally if Ctown moves to 4A, SC will have grown as well. If you build it...they will come.
-
I beg to differ. When they fill the new school they are building they will likely be 5A by the very next class re-alignment. SC is growing exponentially. I've heard year after year they turn students away because there is no room. The area is filled with industry and the new school and sports facilities will be very appealing.

Quite a few upset picks so far! Could be an interesting week.

Can you Punt a Kickoff in High School Football

I remember seeing Brees attempt one in a Pro Bowl. It's one of the only things I remember from any recent Pro Bowl... -

Trick play wins 4OT game in Georgia
cloudofdust replied to gindie's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I've seen this done by a few teams. I'll just say it seems a bit sketchy. I'm sure they have fun with it but with the game on the line, I'd want my guy turned around the right way! -
The big question to be answered this week is, how good is Charlestown? Would also shed some light on how Corydon is this year. 28 points is nothing to shake a fist at against an always sound Brownstown team. That's considerable improvement considering they only scored 64 points all season last year. Clarksville seems to be improving each year. Jumping out of the MSC was a good move.

2022 Mid Southern Conference Thread (MSC)
cloudofdust replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Moving down a class doesn't hurt BC. They've ran it in 2A before and it helps them move through the tourney without having to face Lawrenceburg, Gibson, Southridge, or Heritage Hills. The big question is how long until SC joins the HHC. Their numbers will explode when the new school is finished. -

Minutia is what makes football such a great sport! Not to be confused with Menudo, which is a delicious Mexican soup...
