That is a shame about Warren not being in the IEFA this year. They have a long history of taking the best of their in-house rec league and have them competing in the IEFA. I didn't know this...thanks for sharing Coach Grover!!

The last time I will restate my opinion. BTW, I am not an anti-Harbaugh guy. We agree on the inconsistency of the NCAA. It looks like the original issues were fairly minor. I put that on the NCAA. What makes zero sense is Harbaugh lying and misleading an investigation. In this case for things relatively minor. That is absolutely an integrity issue and sends a very bad message to the organization he leads. A fundamental value that I am sure he has espoused time and time again as a coach is integrity. Yet, when he has the chance to demonstrate this value, he failed. Harbaugh owns that...pure and simple and to attempt to sweep that under the rug by continuing to go back and talk about the NCAA. The NCAA owns their piece of this mess and Harbaugh owns his. Additionally, no matter the seriousness of the rule break, Harbaugh broke rules. Its not about, "well the other guy broke a bigger rule"....its about controlling what you can control and that is one's own behavior and choices. As we have all told our children, 2 wrongs don't make a right" IU was clobbered year ago for Kelvin Sampson's misuse of his phone...I am pretty sure no longer an NCAA rule. They owned it and took the hit. Had Jim just done this, this would have been in the rear view mirror with a wrist slap. Jim made it much worse. BTW, Jim is getting some negative press himself.....both are receiving some negative press.

Actually both CG and Carmel was villainized. My opinion only, but I believe Carmel's recent attempt to villainize CG is to get back in the MIC's good graces. Not easy to find 6A in-state football games.

that was an interesting move....a couple of years ago, most thought the Big 12 was dead....now that has changed. PAC 12, 108 year old conference looks to be on the ropes. Guessing Oregon and Wash is heading to the Big 10....other predicted moves? Arizona, ASU. and Utah moving to the Big 12? Stanford? Cal??

I see it differently. This is not new America. Most people caught going 55 in 45mph don't try to lie their way out of it when the police shows them the radar. They take their medicine and move on. As FB16 pointed out, Jim Tressel was done in for some fairly minor things at OSU years ago....when he decided to be dishonest. Whether the infractions were serious or not, Harbaugh had a choice to be honest and demonstrate integrity to his players. He missed the mark. Attempting to make Harbaugh a martyr is ridiculous. He knew better. University of Michigan gets this and is why they are negotiating a penalty. Of course Finebaum will defend him...cheating is quite common in the SEC. Status quo in his beloved conference. Scares the %$#@ out of him the action taken with Harbaugh has the potential to come down south

Ly can certainly speak for himself, but I interpreted his comment as to the quality of competition football players face in the city and metro area, starting when they are pretty young. What doesn't break you, makes you stronger........

I guess that is my point...why lie?? No reason to do so. Precedent has been set and its about integrity. Take the lumps and move on. I'm not sure if this is arrogance, or just a struggle to be honest. Either way, it magnified the issue and is why Michigan is negotiating a penalty of a 4 game suspension of its head coach. No argument about NCAA consistency or effectiveness. But Harbaugh has to own his own behavior and choices....no way to wash over that one unless one is choosing to wear purple shaded (in this case maize and blue) colored sunglasses.

No disagreement the the NCAA's long history on inconsistency. I am just wondering if totally innocent of any wrong-doing, why negotiate a penalty that includes the head coach being separated from his team for 4 games? I don't understand an innocent man plea bargaining.

I concur completely with your thoughts. Carroll reminded me a little of CG's first ever state title appearance against Penn. Penn was clearly the better team and showed it that day. But CG was on the cusp of building something great, which took more years in the very competitive MIC and Indy area. Carroll looked impressive and one could tell they are building their program the right way. I believe they are on the cusp. With Westfield, Carmel, HSE, Fishers, and programs like Penn will be back up there...I believe competition in the north will get stiffer. I am glad to see CG and Carroll agreeing on a 4 year series (I believe its 4 years) starting in 2024. This will be a benefit to both programs.

If Harbaugh didn't lie or mislead, then why accept the 4 game suspension? This is a negotiated resolution...not just a NCAA demand. We concur about the inconsistencies of the NCAA, but we don't align that Harbaugh is a tragic victim. I don't know enough about both situations to render an opinion, but I've never known the NCAA to be consistent...or exceptionally bright. But Michigan's first 4 games are cake walks....they can sleep through them and still win. My guess is that was a factor in handing out the penalty.

Each class has different talent at key positions, along with different overall talent. Injuries also play a factor in those games. Also, getting teams up to play other teams factor in....you mention FC...no doubt they are improving. Jayson West is a great coach, and being a former CG assistant and long time WC coach, of course he knows how to prepare for CG. What you didn't mention is that CG lost at home last game of the season 2022 against Cathedral, when they were up for almost the entire game, only to lose the game with a massive Cathedral comeback in the last half of the 4th quarter. That loss definitely had an impact going into the FC game. But 4 games later, CG rolls over Cathedral at Indpls Tech, and wins the title against Carroll in much easier fashion that winning the title against Westfield the year prior in 2021. Are other teams in 6A getting better? No doubt....but its hard to draw comparisons year to year. Those CG teams of 2020 and 21 were loaded with talent and that doesn't happen each and every year. What the team and coaches delivered last year may have actually been even more impressive, as the expectations were not the same as the 20 and 21 teams. (at least by the fans) I am not hearing much of that from folks...definitely not the coaches and team. Is there some frustration about state teams refusing to play the Trojans....sure. I understand that totally, as I feel that way. But definitely not because they believe they are "too good". The schedule this season is a flat out gauntlet and it didn't need to be.

I believe Whiteland called it off after a few years. They came close one game at Whiteland, but never beat the Trojans during that period. I would be shocked if CG didn't reach out. They have been looking everywhere for games.

I don't totally disagree with your comment about the Warriors. But first things first..... 1) Win a 5A title before you outgrow the division 2) Start agreeing to play CG as backyard neighbor

My point is that its easy to point blame sitting in the comfort of one's own living room, while also claiming that they would have resolved it easily. That's called overconfidence...perhaps even delusion. Unless people were there on the sideline to see and hear what transpired between coaches, players and officials, they are speculating at best regarding who was at fault. Claiming to have the answers from afar is nothing more than what social media has evolved....arm chair experts. Nothing more or less. If I am allowed to speculate from the cheap seats, my guess is that the behavior of a select few made it difficult on the entire bunch, and given the experience of the coaches and officials, I am comfortable that the best decision was made to shut it down with the game well in hand....moving on to next year. My further guess is that following, some smart people will evaluate and look for improvements for future games. Bigger issues in the world than this one....

Shaking my head. Those are very good men as coaches on those sidelines. At least one of them is a sure fire hall of fame coach that will be on a very short list of one of the best this state has seen. Unless you were there, on those sidelines, observed what was going on between coaches, players and officials, your are speculating at best. (I'm being kind) As far as you handling the situation, I have no doubt in your mind that you are definitely the answer.

Were you present? On the sidelines? Nothing like assigning guilt from the cheapseats....then again, pointing fingers without any involvement is what social media has become. Of course, you would have handled it far better and nipped it all in the bud.
