  1. Simply sharing from MaxPreps. But since you brought it up, what are you trying to say?
  2. I was just kidding with you. I can see a conflicts with other sports coming into play... Growing up in a rural part of the state before consolidation, there was only one choice if someone wanted to play football. And that was to attend the "city" school. Those smaller schools were fierce rivals in other sports such as hoops. I don't think it would have worked during the fall to merge a couple of those schools together to play a single sport.
  3. Is the Columbus PAL still leading the youth efforts? Would love to see them back in the IEFA.
  4. Wasn't really pushed "to the brink" CG 14-0 end of Q1, CG 21-14 at half, CG 28-17 end of Q3, final CG 42-32. I guess one could call it interesting....that's fair. CG was always in the lead...Warriors did cut it to a single score in Q2. https://www.maxpreps.com/games/11-11-2022/football-22/center-grove-vs-warren-central.htm?c=GZx0bn6BX0mF7ez2iwZznA#tab=recap&schoolid=
  5. CG's main test was the opening game of the tournament at FC. (serious underdog) Was coming off the week of their tough loss at the end of the game against Cathedral. Don't remember any other serious tests in the tournament for the Trojans.
  6. No doubt about Cathedral and CG’s schedules. Tough opener for the Trojans in Ohio.
  7. Man, beyond frustrated....AD made decision about lack of resources without even discussing it with the city. Why do I think his department received a nice check to move the location of the Super Regional, putting his team on the road? BTW, media interviews with local hotels determine accomodations not the issue. https://www.wthitv.com/news/i-wish-it-would-have-been-a-collective-community-decision-city-leaders-former-isu-players/article_9750d2e6-04a6-11ee-b03b-f374dad58e58.html Listen to president of the university...dumps it on the AD. Again, never talks with city officials about staffing needed to pull it off. https://www.wthitv.com/news/isu-president-addresses-controversial-decision-to-withdraw-bid-to-host-super-regionals/article_09c51104-04c3-11ee-afd9-c76aa8256a7d.html Really disappointed in this administration...they sold out their team. BTW, when is the last time ISU has made the sweet 16 in anything with an opportunity to host a major event that would have exposed the school all over national TV?? Nice call jackwagons!!
  8. Isaiah Rodgers looks to be in a world of hurt....... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/06/06/isaiah-rodgers-faces-potential-banishment-from-the-nfl/
  9. I understand the importance of hosting the annual Indiana Special Olympics event. I just can't get my arms around that its an "either/or" proposition. Now the baseball team, that earned the right to play at home, has to go down to TCU and win 2of 3 on their home field to earn a trip to the College WS. Nice job admin.
  10. While this isn’t an ISU thread, such a bummer Sycamore’s lose out on hosting the Super Regional. They had earned it!!
  11. I agree. He was in no way chirping or trying to show up the other team. Simply celebrating with his teammates. I guess a rule is a rule...but not sure why he needed to be ejected for both the current game the infraction occurred and then the next contest. Seems excessive. He was not even allowed to go to the ballpark to cheer on his teammates. NCAA at its finest...certainly a handle on priorities.....
  12. Now its all evened up with UK after the Wildcats administered a spanking to the Hoosiers yesterday. How did people feel about former CG standout Tyler Cerny's ejection that included the game he was playing and the next game? I guess its a rule, but seems harsh. Not sure it makes a difference in a 10 run blowout. Get it done today Hoosiers!!! How about the other really good baseball program in the state? Indiana State University hosting their first regional and winning it, going 3-0 in the series and taking down the Iowa Hawkeyes twice??? March On you Mighty Sycamores!!
  13. Ahhhhh...the down vote from Muda. Way too serious.....although predictable. Bob....I am sure glad you appreciated my attempt at humor.
  14. I don't think for one second ND should change their name or mascot. Just think its hard to defend actions taken on Native American nicknames/mascots and rationalizing that some don't feel ND nickname and mascot is a questionable stereotype. Personally, I think much of this has been way overblown and the NCAA has both been hypocritical and way outside of their lane, not to mention suck at prioritization of their largest issues and managing rules compliance. I just think if one points the finger at native american names/mascots, and if they want to be consistent, should consider them all instead of picking to their own bias as to what's offensive.
  15. Pretty vanilla nickname, that the baseball organization goofed and took the name from the city's roller derby team. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/32643793/cleveland-guardians-settle-lawsuit-local-roller-derby-team-rights-name I don't have a problem with generic names such as "Warriors....Indians.....Braves....etc." Again, organizations are not naming their teams to embarrass or humiliate anyone, let alone their own organizations. Some questioned the Chief Wahoo logo and I can understand the questioning. So come up with a different logo. That being said...teams have been changing and getting away from names such as "Indians" for a long time. I believe Stanford did so in the 1970's, Dartmouth, SE Missouri State, etc.
  16. Good perspective. I am sure it was meant to be respectful, but some take it differently. I am sure when North Dakota, Eastern Michigan, Marquette and others selected their nicknames and mascots, they meant it as a compliment and in the most respectful way. Still, all of have changed. Who would have thought the nickname Colonials with the mascot of George Washington for a university named after him would have been deemed offensive???? SMH
  17. My opinion is that stereotyping is what causes problems. To assume all feel one way or the other is incorrect. There are Native Americans that proudly support nicknames such as Seminoles, Utes, and Chippewas. Perhaps aligning with those groups of Native Americans makes more sense and also getting their input on mascot design. https://www.espn.com/blog/playbook/fandom/post/_/id/18484/tribe-supports-native-american-mascots I struggle a lit bit with giving the "Fighting Irish" nickname and logo a pass. The logo can absolutely been seen as a stereotype for Irish people. Of course they fight...that's what they do, right? I absolutely would understand why many people of Irish descent don't support the logo or name. https://onmessage.nd.edu/athletics-branding/logos/leprechaun/
  18. I think the fine people of Nashville will be just fine without my concern about a new stadium being built.
  19. I don't want to go down this rabbit hole with you. Try your favorite search engine....they are out there if you really want to find them with an open mind. But there are absolutely articles as to the pros and cons. I do agree that its more difficult to show a benefit when replacing an existing facility (that still has life) vs. building a first time stadium for a city. Bottom line, its the voting citizens of Nashville's business...not yours or mine. Calling voters of another city "stupid" because they have an outlook different than yours is unfortunate to say the best. They determine the "value" for them. Stay home
  20. While other studies do show a return on investment. My point is that regardless which camp one lands in, just remember that when you are labeling a large group of people as stupid, those people may indeed be labeling you as the same. It their home...not yours. I don't know if the Titans need a new stadium or how the facility will be used to support the community outside of football. All stadium investments are not the same. But I do know this...I could care less how Nashville invests their money. Those citizens have that responsibility.
  21. Careful with labels..the group you are insulting may indeed label you as the same...perhaps with the term of "shortsighted" as well.....
  22. or....the voters of the city got exactly what they voted for. If not, then they will vote out the people in political power....or leave the area if that issue is a big enough deal to them as voting citizens. But I am sure they appreciate your concern.
