  1. I truly didn't know the impact....do you see others leaving to go with him to the Chargers?
  2. looks like a member of the Wolverine staff headed to LA with Harbaugh. https://www.maizenbrew.com/2024/1/29/24054210/michigan-wolverines-college-football-ben-herbert-leaving-jim-harbaugh-nfl-los-angeles-chargers Not sure of the impact, but day prior Sherrone Moore felt confident UM would retain him. https://www.maizenbrew.com/2024/1/27/24052823/michigan-football-sherrone-moore-ben-herbert-2024-jim-harbaugh
  3. Are all officials arrogant? Officials with law backgrounds only? Just curious. Only officials understand the rules....ok....🙄
  4. As a former player and coach, I understand what holding is and isn’t. The head referee misses holding calls for time to time, especially with non-calls. That is a fact. All officials do their best, and some are better than others. But like any other human who are considered masters of their craft, they are not without blemish. Much of the media you downplay are former NFL players and they point out officiating errors through video. Dismissing their views as not understanding the game isn’t credible.
  5. Initially, I thought Vrabel’s availability gave Ryan Day something to be worried about…
  6. Very interesting Irish...I thought the same when the Falcons passed on BB. I also found it interesting that BB is not getting that many interviews with an original fair amount of openings. Given his age, do you think teams may be passing for what they consider are more relatable, flexible coaches? Teams such as the Titans, Raiders, etc. didn't even consider...perhaps they had phone conversations. I believe only the Seahawks and Commanders are left with vacancies unless a team abruptly fires a coach. I was wondering if the Eagles or even the Bills would pull the trigger, but they didn't. Kind of tells me teams are not viewing BB as an upgrade to get them over the hump. Lots of interesting articles about this...below is one. https://sports.yahoo.com/as-falcons-pass-on-bill-belichick-its-clear-what-is-shutting-him-out-of-this-nfl-head-coaching-hiring-cycle-012324964.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAADLIj8Wl1jZDu3bWyJ8yhF5cht-C0bYotgu5A4mL-XTMrheq4qo7WIuRJXmfRJrnmZnySgFmbOzZO-ZYxVaueiQJxP66PCmfATaBVPbIEd1z3pT0pd6ccOuIvn7BpFpDu_zs0LBeQFe-QaRHS6qut1-opwZyM1EZaH3KHEyLO1m4 Is anyone surprised that Vrabel isn't landing anywhere? I was surprised the Pats didn't view him as a serious candidate.
  7. Might be able to pull Tom Allen away from Penn State. #LEO
  8. I am not saying anything in deliberate, but the referee does make calls impacting the QB. And there is tremendous interpretation that occurs. For example, how I have witnessed Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford earning roughing the QB calls were very different in the games they played. Is that due to simple variability in how the referee judges the foul...perhaps. I have also seen the referee make holding calls (or decide not to throw the flag) and replay will show us if he got it right or not in many of those cases. Is a missed call deliberate? I don't think so. (others may have their own opinion) Can they be impactful?....absolutely. Can a referee or any official be influenced by the behavior or reputation of a given player? Again, perhaps not intentionally, but do I believe certain players get the benefit of the doubt, which can include crunch time....absolutely. At the end of the day, the referee is human, and not a robot.
  9. are they closer to an agreement in LA? https://www.si.com/nfl/2024/01/23/jim-harbaugh-chargers-could-agree-contract-offer-soon-report If Harbaugh goes, this report has him raiding the UM staff to go with him...... https://athlonsports.com/college-football/jim-harbaughs-departure-could-result-chain-reaction-disastrous-blows-michigan
  10. Love the Shoals nickname...personal bias given the neck of the woods I grew up in.....
  11. You have to be pretty pumped about the future. Never one play, but missed FG hurt in Q4. Excellent game!!
  12. Not sure. Agree with you about worth. I believe it all about KK’s relationship with Caleb Williams.
  13. Looks like one potential Harbaugh landing spot eliminated...... https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39344707/raiders-working-finalize-deal-antonio-pierce
  14. I think a number of analysts would agree with you Irish. I agree with your comments about Harbaugh...his brother nipped him when they both took their teams to the Super Bowl, and that has to sting. John seems to be in a good position to be a contender for another one this year. Belichick interviewed with Atlanta again....thoughts about him coaching the Falcons. Not sure why he would want to jump in a situation without a proven QB.
  15. Very sad for any individual to be 64 years of age and can't handle this demon. In this case, a 64 year old billionaire. While I feel for him and his battle with addiction, I would hope the NFL would demand that he hand over the keys until he can demonstrate he is healthy and on the right track.
  16. The young man is definitely a winner...no one can claim otherwise. And I think he probably considered an outstanding leader. It would seem his stock has risen after the title game in which some draft analysts are now saying he will go as the 4th QB taken at the end of the 1st round. Based on that, I agree with Bobref...his stock will never be higher and makes sense he would declare. What has me scratching my head a little is I thought he was ok during the national championship game, but it was far from his best. His long run backed up down by his own endzone was probably his best play of the game. But the NFL is now all about the passing game, and I am not sure his game best aligns with the pure passing skills needed. Now, perhaps the experts see his potential development, similar to a Jordan Love. I am not sure. Harbaugh's endorsement as the "best ever" at Michigan does say something. I guess time will tell....seems like a young man of outstanding character and is quite the leader. Hope he is successful at the next level. Any speculation as to what teams may use their draft pick on him?
  17. Saw that...Falcons interviewed Belichick and Harbaugh....going for the big guns!! I can't see either excited about the QB options there.
  18. You make great points...sometimes the gamble works out....sometimes it doesn't and it would have been better to stay in "your own backyard". DeBoar had certainly moved the Huskies forward and kind of had it made there. A gamble for sure. I had circled the Washington at IU game next year because of him...now not so sure, although I believe Washington made a nice hire of the Arizona coach...who also turned that program around. I do think DeBoar has more experience as a head coach than Weiss given his time as Fresno State, Washington and then prior at smaller schools. Weiss had pretty much been a coordinator at the pro level (outstanding O coordinator) and jumped straight into a head coaching job at a major place before working up. Time will tell about DeBoar....Saban came over as a SEC coach....DeBoar is definitely an outsider to the SEC. The question is can he recruit and retain players.
  19. Looks like he did indeed interview.... https://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/2024/01/14/jim-harbaugh-nfl-rumors-michigan-contract-updates-chargers-coaching-candidates-raiders/72225729007/ A couple of more spots may open up with terrible playoff performances....Dallas and Philly. Going to get interesting. Michigan is also working on an extension that I can only guess is extremely lucrative. Will boil down to how badly he desires the NFL. Guess Belichick interviewed with Atlanta and assume he will be in demand as well, presenting a little competition. Seems like a number of Raider players are pushing for their interim coach, Antonio Pierce.
  20. I agree with your comment Bob. That is a job that had he passed, he would have probably always thought "what if". Wasn't a walk in the park for Ray Perkins when he succeeded the Bear. But he had the first losing season for Bama since 1957. Regardless, his next assignment after Bama following his resignation wasn't bad....he certainly moved on. I think DeBoar will be just fine. I like his hire of Wommack....glad to see him focus on D.
  21. Not anti Bears, but saw this on social media…..
  22. Sanctions are an absolute possibility. Again, you don’t need to defend them. You couldn’t be more wrong. Just move on…
