You have your opinion..I can have mine. Not every team was sold on Richardson just because he was chosen 3rd QB. Top 2 QB’s came off board and because Colts were desperate for a QB, they rolled the dice. Didn’t pan out. Richardson probably better off somewhere else as clearly Steichen not sold. Will he improve with a better QB whisperer? Most likely. Will he get to a Darnold level? I’m skeptical. BTW, caps aren’t necessary. I follow you.

It is interesting to think about...given some states have a decent state tax (not counting local) at/near 10% or higher, if this would ever factor into decision-making by the player. Zero state income tax in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, etc. vs some of these states listed below.... Brendan Sorsby goes to Texas Tech and pays $0 state income tax for his $5M one year deal. He would have lost $665K in state taxes alone had he went to USC. Perhaps the agents/lawyers help them through the state residency issues to avoid that kind of hit.

Wouldn't the benefit be waiving state/local tax only? My guess is that the feds will want their piece of the pie. 9 states do not have state income tax....doesn't this put Mississippi on even ground with them? (for NIL income) Note football states like Texas and Florida have no state income tax.

I'm not disagreeing the level of coaching matters...certainly has with Darnold. Darnold was a far more accomplished as a passer at USC than Richardson was at Florida. Can't believe you compare them in that fashion. Richardson was taken in a draft that was not that deep with QB's (especially after the first 2 taken and the verdict is very much still to be determined for each of them) and his athleticism stood out...not his passing and processing abilities. Can coaches help with this...sure? Enough to make him a solid NFL starter....we shall see. But to compare Darnold and Richardson's passing resume's as equal is not correct Coach.

Darnold skill sets far exceed Richardson. He's not exactly tearing it up with McCarthy's development. Atlanta....as much as I like Penix, jury still very much in deliberation. But I do agree....he would absolutely require a QB guru.

No different than ND knowing USC would not go for the game late in the season...not to mention Big 10 schedules are fixed. Why in the world would USC use their bye week in the Big 10 to play ND late in the season? Both teams wouldn't budge....we shall see if ND feels that can continue to set terms with scheduling as an independent. Less and less teams see any reason to play them. Teams that are open to playing ND have their non-conference games typically before conference begins.

I can same the exact same for ND pushing a late in the season game to fit their needs, knowing USC after playing a long Big 10 season would never go for it. Bottom line, both schools wouldn't compromise and they both have ownership in the series falling apart.

That wasn't just USC...that goes on both schools. Completely understand why USC didn't want to play ND late in the season. They offered up week 1. ND said no. Let's be fair with that statement.
