I understand where @btownqbcoach1 is coming from. It's in the rules unfortunately. I don't know what you do to solve it other than nothing. You can't write in a rule that says you only move up if you have the correct amount of points and win a state title. What would happen if Luers was in 3A next year and they lose in the state championship again. Well they didn't win a state title, so we have to keep them in 3A. Process repeats, stay in 3A, process repeats...It's a slippery slope that a team like Luers is more than capable of doing. Now in that time do I think they would finally win one maybe. But let's look at it this year. Who could beat Luers in 3A North this year? Andrean? Maybe. Then get to the state championship lose to a potential team like Chatard. Same thing the following year. Eventually you have to move them up. We have the system in place for that whether it's right or wrong. Luers needs to look in the mirror and ask themselves "we made it to state twice and didn't win either one. What do we need to change to make sure that doesn't happen again."
-
I'll agree with you that it doesn't make sense to not win a state title and get moved up, but to say that it is the end all be all for Luers is ridiculous. They have proven in their conference and in playoff play that they can punch well beyond their enrollment. Obviously they are well coached and have athletes year in and year out to win. If they don't, they will be in 3A soon enough again for another go round at the 3A state title. There are schools that are still looking for one state title to show at their school. They still put their heads down and get to work every year in hopes of it being their year. I think Luers and their fans are just getting a small taste of what most of the schools in Indiana feel every year. The odds stacked against you, how are you going to respond? Throw a fit and say it can't be done, or find a way to make it happen at the next level you have to face. You are a passionate fan of Notre Dame from what I have seen in other threads. Did Notre Dame get cheated out of the college football playoffs? Absolutely, the second the bracket was shown and they weren't on it, Freeman had them with their heads down pushing and working already for the next year.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Now will it make sense to draw it up that way by the committee? Nah probably not lol -

How do you think they will match up the sectionals for regional meetings? Last two years it was setup almost like the two sectionals in the eastern part of the state for North and South would play and the two sectionals in the western part would meet up. To me, east west meeting for regional seems more of a possibility this year than the north/south regional matchups from last year. -
Sounds like he has to be moved. The value the Raiders are going to get for him has significantly dropped now due to this circumstance. Either that or they have to shave fat off somewhere else to keep him.
-
You're spot on. I think the trade off for cap space and what you could get in the draft was greater than what Franklin brings to the table. Good LB absolutely, game changer no not really. The Colts must have thought he wasn't worth the $6 million this year and the $8 million the following. I would agree, but it wouldn't be hard to argue the other way as well.
-
Yes, never was too impressed with him. Hopefully the Ohio State guy we drafted last year in round 2 comes back from his injury and lives up to what he is supposed to be. I believe the name is Tuimoliau or something like that.
-
Still have Pierce obviously, Downs, and Warren, realistically you need a #2 receiver from the draft and you are okay. At LB, again you can find something in the draft. If you watch tape on Franklin, yes he has a lot of tackles per year but if you watch his run fits from a coach perspective you aren't losing much. Both him and Leonard were not very good at attacking the open windows and gaps. Overran a lot of plays allowing for cut backs. The one thing I did think Franklin was better than Leonard at was pass coverage. Pratt played very well after we picked him up through the season last year. I think we have him and you draft a guy to play alongside him to learn from and we will be okay. A healthy Buckner and Stewart can make mediocre LB play look a heck of a lot better.

Saw the post right when I posted that on here haha

Just saw this, wowza that's a lot of money. Gotta think Pittman has to be sweating about possibly not being back. This also makes me think there's a possibility we don't bring back Jones and roll with Leonard on a rookie contract. I like Leonard at QB. The dude put up the most points out of anyone all year against a Texans defense I would only put behind Seattle's. But it is also a big risk for Ballard and Steichan. A bad year with Leonard at the helm and both might be looking for new jobs after next year.

Gonna be hard for us to do being in the TRC, 8 conference games which allows only one non-conference game, and need to keep Valley on the schedule for the Bell Game. I doubt Luers will be back down to 2A any time soon. I think there's a chance we could see each other in the Sectional. Will be interesting who they pick between Rochester and Bremen to go West and who goes East for Sectional assignments. I think it is more likely you guys will have Bremen. Hopefully our two sectionals meet for the regional. Could be the year we see RC and Rochester in the Regional against one another. Looking forward to a fun 2A year. -

At least if they don't it would be a lot easier to change to 24 than the people who get premature tattoos that don't end up happening lol -

When are you going to change your name? I wake up everyday and get on here waiting to see 24andCounting and never do. You know we are less than half a year away from opening night in Indiana. Time is ticking for you! -

They needed to find a way to justify taking two months to create the sectional alignments haha....I kid, I kid. -

Probably the most difficult one will be what they choose to do with the 4A North Teams that run along or within reach of 31. A lot of teams on the outside of the state in the North with a bunch of teams scattered all down 31. Might have to pull a few Indy area teams there to create the last Sectional in 4A -

Big question for me is what they do for regionals in 2A this next year. In the past in the North at least it has been Northeast and Southeast sectionals matchup in the regional and Northwest and Southwest sectionals matchup for regional. Might be more east and west matchup this year. Same could probably be said for the South this year. Not sure how they have had it set up in previous years. -

I understand what you are saying with penalizing the underclassmen but.....couldn't that be said about a lot of public schools(and some private) that have had to move up in the years past due to the success factor? I'm not saying make Cascade go up to 4A and play but to me based on the success factor they should have to stay in 3A for one more cycle before going down because of enrollment. I'm not saying anything needs to be changed this year either but I think the IHSAA needs to look into having something in writing to explain why this is okay one way or the other for a team winning a state championship and moving down a class because I don't think there is anything to this point. -

HAHA get the Luers fans fired up. Lose the 3A State Championship, reward...go to 4A. Cascade wins the 3A State Championship, reward...go to 2A. Something isn't quite adding up right here.
