Pound for Pound Poll
First_Backer_Inside replied to 23andCounting's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Just so I can make sure I'm following, if your kids can pay for their own lunch chances of finding 11 guys who can put the ball in the end zone, and 11 guys who can keep people from putting the ball in the end zone goes up? Just taking notes, so I can walk through our cafeteria, and know who to tell to come out for the football team next year. I bet guys like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning could pay for a lot of lunch in high school. -
NLC - 2025 Season

I've been meaning to ask this, what happened in the Warsaw/Concord game? Wouldn't have been surprised by Concord winning, but was very surprised by the final score. I've heard Warsaw's defense is has been struggling this year. -

Fair, but still not giving Andrean credit. Look at the 4a and 5a teams they play. Outside of the Hobart win being impressive, what win do they have that makes them a "pound for pound" great team? -

And yet they can't seem to SF themselves to 3A. So how much can they really punch above their class? -
The defense has played well. They play with a lot of energy which can make up for a lot of mistakes they make. As good as the Braves offense is, can't have those mistakes when they meet up. All it takes is the Braves to be on for a whole game and they can put up points on anyone. Never have I seen a team that can put up 28 points as fast as they can in any given quarter. Hopefully both teams can stay undefeated for a big conference matchup like last year, both stay healthy after the game and make some deep playoff runs to represent the TRC.

Week 7 games! Two Sundays away from the sectional draw. Maconaquah survives another game to stay undefeated along with Rochester in the conference. Will be interesting to see how the Conference starts to unfold towards the bottom with a lot of 1-4 teams sitting there. I think Manchester, Northwestern, and Cass have established themselves as the second tier of teams although Cass has a chance to put themselves in second place in the conference with a win against Maconaquah this week. Only three more weeks in the conference and on to sectionals, here we go! Cass at Maconaquah - Game of the week in the conference. Can Cass stop the Braves from putting up 50, and be able to put up enough points to get the job done. Not sure what to think of Maconaquah. They can score 28 points in one quarter, and then go scoreless for a half. Can they stop Smith at FB will be the key. I look for this to be close with Maconaquah pulling away late in the game. Mac - 49 Cass - 28 Manchester at Whitko - Manchester wins this one and remains a one loss team in the TRC. Northfield at Rochester - Zebras going to be too much for the Norseman even though Northfield got a big win last week against Wabash. Zebras too much for them in this one. Northwestern at Wabash - Northwestern will put up a lot of points, Wabash will put up a few points. Northwestern gets the win by multiple scores. Southwood at Peru - Peru is better than their record shows. Finally getting to the bottom half of teams in the conference. I look for them to win at least 2 of their last 3 with the first one coming this week. Peru by two touchdowns.

Nobody is even talking about it

It would be close this year. Hard to read this Adams Central team. Beat a good South Adams team 35-7, but then barely get by with wins against Heritage, Garrett, and Eastside. Bluffton will be a good indicator for how this Adam Central team stacks up with the teams from the past couple of years. -

Adams Central at #2 is way to high if you are going off of 2025. -
Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 6)
First_Backer_Inside replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Disappointed to pull up this thread and not see any comments saying there should be 5 more teams from the region inside the top 25. Best part of visiting this thread every week and listening to the reasoning behind it. -
If most voters see them on film they probably won't pick either one, but it would be cool to have a Mr. Indiana come out of the TRC. This guy has my vote and should have everyone else's. It's not even close. Reminds me of Jack Kiser in his ability to do everything, but maybe more athletic than even Jack was.

Fair point, but I'm not going to rule him out yet. Like I said if by year 3 we see the same results, then I am in complete agreeance with you. Just think year 1 is too early to make a call in today's college football. Being in the ACC helps. Not sure he will make noise nationally, but he could get the Tar Heels to the top of the conference if the ACC doesn't fall apart before then.

I know what you mean. Just like the idea of having a running back at QB who can still throw the ball if needed, and allow us to now have an extra blocker. I wouldn't mind seeing Warren line up as the wildcat QB. Worked at Penn state. I just think a little creativity is needed. I also think playing Richardson a little might help his value, and we could get something out of him still if we can show flashes of potential still. Letting a high pick like that just fall off your roster without anything in return would hurt a little. This would be a way to kill two birds with one stone.

Have noticed this the most from us. Can move the ball at will till we get it inside the 10. I think this is where the Colts could be utilizing AR a little bit. Bring him in as a pass/run threat inside the 10. We need to do something because field goals inside the red zone will not be enough to beat the higher end teams in the NFL.
-
Can't rule out Bill just yet. The guy brought in 70 transfers and completely flipped the roster. Give him 2 or 3 years, and if we are still seeing the same results then I would agree with you. Too early in North Carolina to be calling Bill a flop.

Temp’s Top 25 (After Week 5)

Tell me you have only watched region football all year without telling me you've only watched region football all year. -
New week of games. Can Rochester and Maconaquah continue to stay undefeated and on path for a collision course for the conference championship in Week 9? Time will tell. Can't believe its already Week 6! Sectional draw is right around the corner. Who ya got this week. Maconaquah at Northwestern - Mac had a bit of a scare last week. I look for them to reload and refocus this week against an improved Northwestern team from the start of the year. Mac wins this by a couple scores. Manchester at Southwood - Manchester is putting together a nice season. I look for them to continue this and be too much for the Knights. Manchester by 21+ Rochester at Peru - Probably the game of the week in the conference. Peru has a very misleading 1-4 record. They play everybody really well. Rochester has the second best defense in the state. It will be tested this week against an offense that can put up points. I think Rochester in a close one. Wabash at Northfield - Northfield is very young and Wabash has some pretty good athletes on the team that will be the difference in the game. I like Wabash by two touchdowns. Whitko at Cass - Cass took one on the chin last week. I think they bounce back and continue to keep the conference race close between them, Mac, and Rochester. Cass by a couple of scores.

If I Had Elon Musk’s Money…
First_Backer_Inside replied to Frozen Tundra's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I would have a dome or covered stadium built for every single high school football team in the state. I would give them the option on whether they wanted natural or artificial turf on the inside, and let someone smarter than me figure out how that would all work. I would then pay for any maintenance needed going forward on every teams indoor facility. With the money I had left over I would pay @Donnie Baker mom, Phylis, back for all the sticky ones he has stolen from her over the years to pay for his GID booster membership, his nudie magazines, and any other thing that Mr. Baker himself would only ever buy that most other people would probably never think of purchasing. -
Wabash River Conference Week 5
First_Backer_Inside replied to Donnie Baker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
If you are a spread team or looking to see what your defense can do against the spread, summer scrimmages are great. When you are foot to foot, double tight, double wing, summer scrimmages don't really give you much to go off of. Quick whistle for a pile of bodies that you can't even tell what is happening in the middle of it. Like stated above, it's great for some things, but until you strap them up and go at it under the lights, you never are going to truly know what you have. -
Strictly talking football I would have to agree. I think throughout other sports the conference is still fairly competitive in conference and playoffs. With the exit of Valley and North Miami, it has been rough. I would make the argument that Cass and Northwestern will have years being up and down. When they are up that helps the conference. The Wabash schools are certainly struggling. Southwood and Northfield haven't been their usual selves the last couple of years. Those are usually two tough 1A schools you can count on to be a hard out year in and year out. Peru is another one that just can't put consistent years together.

All of the teams you mentioned have 1 or more losses on the season. Did the teams they lose to also do the Haka, and if so they must have done a better job for them to lose to them? It would be interesting to see two teams performing the haka on the field at the same time. Some might call it a haka-two-a battle.

Still looking for some TRC folks on the digest. Should be some fun ones this week. A lot of teams playing mirror images of themselves this week. Who ya got? Cass at Rochester - Big game in the conference. Both teams undefeated in the conference, same style of offense, should be a good hard hitting game on Friday night. Northfield at Manchester - Should be a quick game with both teams running the ball in their option offenses. Manchester has the better athletes, I think they get the job done. Northwestern at Whitko - Both teams are going to air it out. If Whitko has their QB back should be a pretty good game between the two of them. I'm going to give Northwestern the nod, but should be a good one. Peru at Maconaquah - About the only game where you will see the two offenses running different things this week in the conference. Peru has lost a couple of close games in the conference. I think Mac's ability to air the ball out will be too much for the Tigers. I'll take Mac. Southwood at Wabash - Should be a good matchup. Will come down to which defense plays better than the other. I think Southwood has a little better defense, but I think Wabash probably has the best player on the field offensively. Should be a good one. I'm going to go with Southwood here.

Everybody can recruit now and the private schools all of a sudden aren't as dominant as usual...interesting.
