Don't have to say anything about Adam Central, the program speaks for itself. Eastbrook is led by a lot of seniors this year. Rochester had a solid group this last year and Eastbrook took us behind the woodshed. I think the key to this one will be the passing game of Adam Central. I think this is the weak link in Eastbrooks defense. Adam Central will have a better QB and receiver than Eastern had, trust me I've watched both teams. For Adam Central, gotta stop Howell. Rochester stopped him on the ground but he threw it all over us. The QB with the better game next Friday will be on the winning team. Two really good players at the position for both teams next week. I'm taking Adam Central, but I wouldn't be surprised if Eastbrook wins either. They have the talent to do it. Should be a good one.

5A Tournament: OFFICIAL Thread
First_Backer_Inside replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Really interested to hear the answer to this like you are. My experience with high school football has always been with classes 3A and down where the head coach is usually a coordinator of some sorts. Wonder if the same thing is happening at the higher classes, especially 6A. Fun little bit, I had the opportunity to go out to California a few years ago to speak with the coaches at St. John Bosco, one of the top programs nationally year in and year out. We were looking at some different things they were doing defensively. During that time we got to sit in on position meetings, talk with the coaches, and watch practice. If I wouldn't have been told who the head coach was, I would have never known he was the man. Never saw him really coach anything during the practice. The guy was managing the practice, organizing time periods, talking with scouts and college coaches at the practice. Didn't call a play, didn't coach a drill. Moved around talking to players and coaches throughout the whole practice. Just very interesting how head coaches rolls are different for every program throughout the country. -
Seeger @ Lewis Cass - Stop the FullBack for the Kings, win the game. Just speaking from experience when Rochester played them. Easier said than done Gavin Smith is a stud running the ball on down. Haven't seen much of Seeger. The last three years, Seeger has matched up with TRC teams in the playoffs, 1-2 through those three years. History would say the Kings in this one, but a lot of talk saying the TRC is down this year. Not a good team in the conference, maybe Seeger can get it done this year.

Valley plays hard in one football game all year, the bell game. After that their season is a joke. Just my personal opinion. Might be a little bit bias. -
Was in awe watching the end of that game on film. No quit in the Eastbrook Panthers was the message I got. Can't wait for this Friday. I think we might see another great game that might come down to the end as well between the Zebras and Panthers this coming Friday. 9-1 TRC Champs vs 10-0 CIC Champs in Round 2. Looking forward to it. Hope the Panthers stay healthy throughout the week and both teams can be at their best to duke it out for the chance to play in the Sectional Championship.

Felt like the refs missed a forward lateral and a holding or two during the play, but I understand the chaos of the moment. At the end of the day Alexandria has to find a way to get him on the ground. -

East Chicago Central #244 over Highland 4A Frankton #252 over Benton Central 3A Greencastle #218 over Brown County 2A Eastern Greene #280 over South Decatur 1A Just so I understand because I might need to edit this to change teams, once we get a class incorrect we no longer get to pick for that class going forward. Example, if all my picks lose, all I pick next week is 5A and 6A? Also think we should puts some kind of stakes on this that everyone just goes by their word. If you participate, you are entering $5 or $10 (if people agree on this we could determine a $ amount) in good faith that if you are not the champion you will pay to the gridiron digest as a donation to promote the website. I think it would be a cool thing, but I also know that this is just a fun thing that Temp is doing for us which is very cool. Just think it would be a fun way to also raise a little more money for the website. Again don't want to take away from the fun of this or what Temp is doing for us because this is awesome and a cool spin on a pick'em. Just a suggestion I would be willing to do and I think a lot of others might do the same. Again don't want to pressure anyone into donating that already have or those that may not want to. -

I like Valley to win the sectional. Has been a long time since the Vikings have won a sectional title. I think they are able to get it done this year. Not sure they can make it much further than that. As a Rochester guy, I'm hoping they do make it pretty far. Makes the Zebras one loss look really good. Really wish the Zebras wouldn't have had a few key guys out in that game, but it was a great game for the Zebras to learn from. Good luck to the Vikings and the rest of the INSC this Friday. -
First Round of Sectionals for the TRC. A lot of talk about the conference being down. Was Maconaquah not as good as people thought or did the conference just compete well against them? Is Rochester just that good this year? A lot of answers will come during the sectional play. Wishing all of the TRC good luck this tournament, and pulling for them all. Who ya got this week? Should be some fun ones to watch. Hopefully we can get a sectional champ coming from the conference somewhere. Northwestern at Peru - Unfortunate to see a TRC battle round 1. Depends on how you look at it, glass half empty or full, at least there will be a TRC team playing in Round 2, unfortunately a TRC team will be defeated as well. Give me Northwestern, been a tough year for Peru. Maconaquah at Twin Lakes - Tough draw for Mac. Twin Lakes has looked solid all season long. Make matters worse I believe the QB for Mac, Robinson, was injured with a broken collarbone at the end of the Rochester game. Not sure why you are playing starters in a running clock in the 4th quarter, but every coach is different. Going with Twin Lakes in this one. Cass at North Montgomery - Don't know much about North Montgomery, but based on record I like the Kings. Prairie Heights at Manchester - Very improved and tough Manchester team gets the win in this one. Whitko at Eastside - Eastside by whatever they want. Rochester at Elwood - TRC Champs, the Zebras win this one and get ready for a battle round 2 against Eastbrook or Alexandria. Wabash at Tipton - Tipton by a lot. North Miami at Northfield - Cool game here. TRC team and long time TRC Warriors battle it out. I am assuming the score will be similar to the beginning of the season, but can't ever count a Baker coached team out. I'm going to roll with North Miami though in this one.

No matter how frustrated I get with some of the inconsistency, once the game is over, I am extremely thankful for those 750 officials. Hopefully we can get that number to grow, or Indiana high school football as we know it could look a lot different in the years to come with not all games happening on Friday nights. -
Is Harding's 06 Championship included in the 23 titles? Forgot how good Harding was for a couple of years. Without Jimtown, I'm sure Harding and Luers would have that number up in the 30's. I think comparing the DAC and SAC leans more towards the SAC being better historically. However, comparing the Northwest to the Northeast is a way closer comparison when you start adding in teams like Andrean, Hobart, and Lowell (RC if you count that as region). Not sure the SAC gets that playoff help that the region gets from those other teams. Also then opens up the can of worms on where you draw the line at for either area.

Honestly, I'm not even sure anyone except for maybe a couple 5A or 6A programs would sub anyone in on defense unless they were a supper deep team. I mean no matter what we see at the 2A level, we usually have the same 11 cats playing D and we adjust based on formation, not personnel. Maybe before the half we take a D-lineman or linebacker out and sub in a more skilled guy. Other than that, not sure this rule would even be used other than to slow down a high paced offense maybe. -

Yes, but I think it would be a nightmare for officials. Enforcing it would be difficult for them, so I don't think it will ever happen. -
I wonder what the post season for both areas is overall, not just when the two conferences play each other. SAC bringing home 23 state titles is very impressive, and I'm sure the region has more than a respectable amount. Head to head in the playoffs is a good start, but what would be the overall playoff success of the entire conference from a certain time till now. It would be a lot of data collecting, but that would be the true test to determine which area is the 2nd and 3rd best in the state. I think it is easy to say they are the next two areas after the Indy areas to historically have the best football. The only area you could possibly make an argument for is Evansville maybe but might be a stretch there.

Wabash River Conference Week 9
First_Backer_Inside replied to Donnie Baker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Maybe 2 or 3 years ago. This is the weakest sectional in the North in 2A. Maybe a balanced sectional, but definitely not a loaded one. -
Appreciate the shoutout. Hopefully the TRC can make a little noise in the playoffs this year. Been getting a bad rep about the conference being down this year, but the Zebras were just on a different level than the rest of the conference this year. Best scoring defense in Rochester history allowing just under 5 points per game. Will be pulling for all the TRC teams next Friday in the first round!
