Anyone wanna make a list of the best players they played against while in High School? I'll go (in no particular order) Jack Kiser - Pioneer George Karlaftis - West Lafayette Jackson Anthrop - LCC Coy Cronk - LCC Matt Desomer - Andrean Some would say it was an honor, I called it multiple ass kickings that I took.

Will be the fourth coach in four years at Southwood. Talking about a team that 5 years ago rattled off 4 conference championships in a row in a conference where they are one of the smallest schools. Very troubling.

Interesting, has the rule always been that for a high school player that steps out on their own, or has that been changed in recent years? I was always under the impression where it was a lot like the college rule, if someone else touched the ball the player could then possess the ball after.

Wouldn't have changed the outcome in the game, but I have a bone to pick with NFL refs. Penalties can't be reviewed and whatever happens happens there, but how do you not give the catch to Pittman towards the end of the game. Any time you have a fifty fifty ball with dual possession, the possession is rewarded to the offense. That was dual possession as dual possession gets. The ref not only called it wrong on the field, but then they don't even review to make the correct call. There should be no excuse for missing a call like that with the ability of replay. I get the game was over, but the rules of the game don't change as long as there is time on the clock. Couldn't believe that was the call. The Colts haven't needed help losing games, and it feels like they can't get a call to go their way the last couple of weeks on top of that. Again the Colts have their own problems, but I just don't understand the thinking behind some of the calls made by the refs these last few weeks on calls that can be reviewed.

Shane is officially coaching for his job the last couple of weeks of the season. I'm not ready to say throw in the towel on the season just yet. I think with a week of game planning the Colts can still do some things on offense that makes them dangerous. I think this will force Shane's hand as far as leaning more on the running game. Leonard moved throughout the pocket and extended plays for the Colts when in that Jones couldn't do since the injury. The defense looks like they are continuing to fight but when they are consistently on the field without long drives by the offense, they get worn down in a hurry. Buckner should be back next week which will help with a pass rush that has been non-existent. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but the Colts have to win their last two division games. Even if they drop the other two I think that will give them a chance. Maybe this will be a Brock Purdy moment for Riley Leonard. Maybe we will fall flat on our face. The offensive line and JT are gonna get us to the playoffs if we have any chance at all. I hope Shane leans on them with the loss of Jones, and the Riley Leonard taking over the play calling. Still enough talent on this team to be a playoff team.

I just coach at Rochester, I went to Cass back when they still had the MIC. The last year was my junior year. My senior year was the first year Heights, Cass, Northwestern, and Western joined the Hoosier Conference.

The transition couldn't have been that hard. He was playing Safety for the varsity team by his Sophomore year alongside his brother. The reason I am confident in this is because I was a year ahead of him, and he popped me multiple times two straight years coming down from that safety position as I was trying to get the edge running jet sweep. Dude could cover some ground quickly.

You would think the same kids playing baseball would also be playing football and basketball. This is the case at most schools. Very odd things going on at Frankfort probably like you said due to the background of students walking the halls. A headache for anyone trying to build a program there for sure.

My mistake, I thought that other than football the other programs at Frankfort weren't that bad. Wasn't that the reason they decided to hire the baseball coach as the football coach as well? Because he had built a pretty good baseball program there at Frankfort.

Two of those schools went 3-6 and the other doesn't have football. I doubt they are getting any game changing players from Frankfort.

Not if they win a regional next year.

Hats off to Ball State for keeping the offer. Not sure every school around the nation would do the same in today's day and age. From what I hear, their getting a good one.

Went to Uindy with a guy named Rylan Arihood, really good running back. Was sad to see him transfer to St. Joseph. I'm pretty sure it shut down before he graduated. Do you know if he decided to go play anywhere after that?

If we were smart we would rest him for a couple games. If it is a calf strain, I think they have linked a lot of the achilles injuries in the NBA to players having a calf strain to start, rushing back and piling on minutes, only for their achilles to eventually go.

Haven't looked into them. I like the idea of us on the moon. Which means I'm all for the earth being round...I think. I wasn't a firm believer in the NFL thing until the last couple of years. How do the Chiefs run through the NFL for multiple years in a row while Taylor Swift and Kelce are all over news making the NFL money and drawing outside fans attention. The attention dies down...so does the Chiefs dominance. Just odd to me. I could keep going on things of recent but I don't really believe it, more just speculation that makes sense to me. Up until after Covid and sportsbooks becoming more popular, I haven't really looked into it. If I didn't think Vegas has a little bit of pull in how professional sports go every year, I would call myself crazy, but I'm not confident enough in it to call anyone else crazy.

The bigger issue at hand is Sauce Gardner. Haven't really looked, but what is the word on his injury. The defense had looked really strong with him in there. Healthy Gardner and healthy Buckner, our defense is good enough against any offense in the league in my opinion. Shane will hopefully come to his senses of running the ball 20+ times a game. Maybe just trying to keep him from taking too many hits throughout the year is the only thing I can come up with. It's now or never tho. The race is too tight now. Gotta lean on your best player more down the stretch.

Send this to Vegas and ask them. They are pretty good at this sort of thing. If they can't help you, at least we know everything in the professional sporting world is scripted.

No matter what system you put in place, there's always going to be an odd man out. If Luers is left in 3A, what's stopping them from piling semi-state after semi-state after semi-state. At some point you have to say they are punching higher than the class they are in. I agree, moving up a class without winning a state title doesn't feel right, but neither does allowing a team to make it to state over and over without winning a title stay in that class. Clearly they are more than successful in that class. Not sure there is a right answer to Luers situation unfortunately. Obviously there are going to be situations that come up in any system that don't feel right, but I think for the most part the system that has been in place with slight modifications has been doing its job when looking at the overall scope of Indiana High School Football. Something that could avoid a lot of the problems we are seeing with the success factor would be seeding the North and South or even sectionals. But then you open up a whole different conversation and can of worms with how to seed.

Everyone in the state is running the same plays Knox ran, power, GT counter, Midline Option, Power option, maybe just a different formation. So everyone in the states offense is doing 4th grade level stuff. That's the whole point of building a program. You have kids run your offense from the time they start tackle football in 3rd or 4th grade. It's the only way teams like Knox survive, not everyone has the talent Luers has every other year. Russ Radtke has won a lot of football games. I think he knows what he is doing when it comes to football. You said it yourself, McLaughlin is a great football player. Why would you not run the ball with him 40 times a game? Luers executed their defensive scheme very well Friday. Knox did not execute very well Friday night. I'd be interested to hear what you think a real offense looks like. I'm sure the other 13 teams that Myles averaged 300 yards against felt like the Knox offense was pretty real. One of those teams happens to be playing in Lucas Oil on Friday.

Knox didn't play any "real" competition until Semi-State? Maybe Rochester should voluntarily move up to play in the 3A region sectional...then again good chance Andrean is there next year. Since they beat Luers I assume they would be considered real competition.

I think you mentioned @temptation was biased towards the HCC. I think you are a biased towards the true north, just a little bit. I am biased towards neither and could care less about 6A football, so I will clear this up. Based off of history the HCC is better and will continue to be better for a while still. There will not be a state champion from the true north in the next 5 years, probably not even the next 10 years because none of them will play each other or leave their conference to play an independent schedule against the Indy schools all year. I think you mentioned Westfield is a 4 quarter team. This is correct because they have to play 4 quarters all year. This is not the case for the true north teams and their schedule. This is the reason they can compete for a half and then lose at the end of the game and will continue to lose for the years to come unless something is changed. So while he might be biased, temp is also correct, the HCC and other Indy schools in the north are better and will stay better than the true north. This is settled now. If you can do this 360 more times that would be impressive, but it isn't needed. Sorry for spoiling the off season @Rodney, gonna have to come up with something else to talk about all off season because this is a dead end.

Chiefs time of possession was 42 minutes or something crazy like that. Asking your defense to be on the field for almost 3 quarters of a football game is nuts. This one is on Shane. 6 offensive plays in the fourth quarter, all pass freakin plays. YOU HAVE THE BEST RUNNINGBACK IN THE LEAGUE! If they stop JT in the 4th and you lose you can at least say well they were the better team today, they stopped what we do best. But instead the only thing that stopped Shane's offense today, was Shane. I'm not an NFL coach, I have no idea what happens behind those doors, but I do know football. I don't care what level it is, don't complicate it. Find a way to get the guys that are really good with the ball in their hands, the ball into their hands. Shane did not do that with his best player today in my opinion.
