  1. I don't have a large sample size, but the handful of buddies/clients I have in Jasper had pretty much had enough of the ground/pound stuff in recent years. Given the way football has progressed to a more passing / open / spread type of game at the college and NFL levels, I think kids would prefer to be a part of that - more people involved. I refuse to believe that Jasper doesn't have kids roaming the halls who could be solid QBs, WRs, etc. In fact, after leaving Jasper after halftime last year and listening to the Jasper radio crew on the ride home, they were pretty much saying the same thing. Jasper should be a tournament force in 4A football. Only 3 Sectional titles in the last 20 years is a pretty abysmal considering all they have - exceptional facilities, plenty of numbers, and great community support. The ingredients are all there. It will be interesting to see how Coach Hart does.
  2. IMO it ran the course of its useful life, but it would be better than having no non-conference games. I think if given the opportunity, we should look to schedule with Indy area p/p schools. MD, Memorial and Castle would be a nice trio to package together for some games.
  3. I heard Boonville, but I can't point to anything official.
  4. This is a good thing for everyone involved.
  5. Here is the link: https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2025/01/13/vincennes-lincoln-high-school-alices-leaving-siac-applies-to-join-wic/76496487007/
  6. IU had an incredible season and no IU fan should be overly disappointed with the loss. ND is just a better / deeper team. Coach Cig has IU going in the right direction and IU fans have lots to look forward to for football season for a change.
  7. Heard Coach Goebel had alluded to this being his last year earlier this season. I bet the current OC is the hire.
  8. I would have no issue with an "enrollment adjustment" such as what Iowa uses for FRL instead of a blanket multiplier (which no one has still attempted to justify being applied to p/p schools such as Hammond Noll, Washington Catholic, and/or Vincennes Rivet). But I don't think it is the miracle salve. Quickly using our respective alma maters based on my recollection of what you previously posted about GS's FRL numbers... Using 35% of FRL population at GS, the adjustment would be from 771 to 663 (771 x 35% x 40% = 108; 771 - 108 = 663). Memorial has about 20% on FRL so our adjustment would be from 617 to 567 (617 x 20% x 40% = 49; 617 - 49 = 567).
  9. I'd prefer VL stayed and we switched to two divisions: the 5 EVSC Schools in one division and Memorial, Mater Dei, Jasper, Castle and VL in the other.
  10. The CSC folks told us the IHSAA did not want players going from the locker room to the concourse to meet families and they would have to depart from the tunnel on the team busses.
  11. I was referring to a parent who is comparing a public school (let's say Castle) and a p/p school (let's say Ev. Memorial). Castle is free and has incredible facilities - far superior to Memorial in every way. Plus, the parent has to transport the child to Memorial (at least until they can drive if they are lucky enough to have a set of wheels). So in that respect, Castle has very distinct advantages over Memorial. I am not a denier. I understand the student populations are different, some much more than others. But in my opinion, the answer is not a blanket multiplier applied to all p/p schools regardless of relative success. How can anyone rationalize multiplying schools like Hammond Bishop Noll, Washington Catholic, or Vincennes Rivet?
  12. Two obvious ones are no tuition and in many cases, better facilities - weight room, etc.
  13. Hendo was 4-7 this year.
  14. Let us know when soccer players are considered "non-participating" students. They may not be from Burma, but we have a bunch too. And the ones who get cut have no interest in football.
  15. How far does EC want to travel for the "little to no revenue" sports like volleyball, baseball, soccer, softball, track, cross country, golf, etc.? Getting out of the EIAC means spending a lot on gas to drive further away with not much in return.
  16. In 2017 & 2018 players and parents/fans were able to congregate in the mezzanine area just down from the Oil Can Grill or whatever its called. In 2019 it was out the door and into the parking lot, and the team bus had to leave the facility so we were on McCarty Street S of the LOS parking lot. It is not a good look for the IHSAA in my opinion.
  17. Just got home from IU. Well done Patriots! Congrats on a great season. Will again be interesting to see how Sectional 32 looks next year.
  18. I agree 100%.
  19. Just to add to your incredibly long list... Ev. Memorial was suspended from post-season play in 1990 in the 3 major boys sports. That's makes 4 in the nearly 40 years of the current class system. It shocks the conscience...
  20. I was fortunate to be local counsel for Mr. Jasaitis in one of the cases down here. He is a tremendous attorney and has a great track record kicking Mr. Neidig and the IHSAA's @$$.
  21. At one time didn't a former IPS Super have the idea that Tech would be sort of a magnet school for athletics to compete against the townships powers?
  22. But those were true enrollment, not after being bumped due to the Success Factor. You're thinking of winning state after being bumped due to the Success Factor.
  23. East Central has only won state in 4A. Ev. Memorial won 3A in 2017 and 4A in 2019. I believe we are the only 3A to win state in 4A. I think New Pal won after being bumped.
