  1. As long as there is no undue influence, I support this. Coaches can leave for better opportunities, so why not kids? I like that it takes the IHSAA out of the process for determining whether a transfer was for athletic reasons or not. Why does it really matter? Coaches leave for better positions all the time.
  2. 10k per year. If you aren't raising that you need a new AD. LOL
  3. Pretty sweet, huh? We love it. The Gibco Motor Express family "sold" it to the school for $40k, which the booster club is paying, so it won't cost the school a dime.. DPatrick did the wrap for free. AD said a couple of weeks ago that for just spring sports it's already saved us over $15k.
  4. And on almancasports.com it shows that MD and PCHS played 8 times from 1970-77, with MD taking all 8 contests. I always forget that Rudy has it all right there at the click of a button...
  5. Did GS drop to 2A in late 1980's? Memorial played GS in 1985 as a 3A school.
  6. I have definitely seen our program moving in this direction. It looks much less like a travel team than it did 10 years ago. I guess one drawback of being an IHSAA sport is no Sunday participation. Do some places have LAX (about all I know of the sport 🙂) games on Sunday?
  7. Probably so. MD and GS both caught some breaks having "success" across two different classification cycles to avoid being bumped up. Another interesting tidbit. I know Mem & SR have never played before (at least at varsity level). Are there any other schools that have never played? The ones I think might be a possibility are MD - GS and/or MD - PCHS.
  8. Different than what I've heard our coaches say too. They want to be fully recognized by the IHSAA.
  9. I bet MV and PCHS won't vote for seeding until this Sectional changes... I think the best we could ever hope for is seeding the top 2 teams in each Sectional, put them on opposite sides, and blind draw the rest. That really makes me no difference either way.
  10. That's easy.. As much as I would hate to have to play the Raiders on the road, I have heard a lot about a pork chop at the c-stand for many years, so there's always a bright side I guess...
  11. With a field this deep (potentially), this might be one of the few Sectionals where not having seeding probably isn't a big deal, unless of course MV draws PCHS. Otherwise I expect all 2d games to be very competitive...
  12. I don't know enough to rank any teams at this point, but I have to think HH is the favorite as the defending 3A South rep returning some tremendous players. GS and SR are always tough. Memorial should be solid if the QB is back. MD will be improved. Don't know what VL has coming back, but they lose a very good QB. MV and PCHS can't love this at all. If I understand the SF points correctly, if either HH gets back to LOS or EM wins a Regional, it would mean a bump up to 4A in 2025. And, as Titan32 previously said, GS could be 4A in the next reclassification. This could be a 1 or 2 year deal at most, so we fans better enjoy what will be a tough, tough sectional and some great HS atmospheres. I believe its the first time HH, GS, SR, MD and Memorial have all been in the same sectional.
  13. Interesting back stories. Thanks. Those damn cheatin' publics... LOL You have any insight on the NIL and transfer topics that were evidently discussed?
  14. Can't imagine this would ever pass. I was pretty surprised it went from 3 to 2 to stay up before this school year. Off topic, but I heard at the meeting down here they took straw poll votes on a number of topics to gauge the pulse - NIL, 1 time transfer with full eligibility, unlimited transfers with full eligibility, etc.
  15. I agree. Catholic school tuition is high value compared to the cost. What other sports do your kids play? I wasn't aware BC had won state recently in anything but football.
  16. You'll either love it or hate it. No in between.. LOL. You ever seen a Sky Line dog without being smothered in chili? I don't think I could eat one plain..
  17. That's a huge upgrade. No Skyline Chili in Dekalb, IL....
  18. Where had he previously committed?
  19. LOL. It was. Branson Combs hit about 5 of them...
  20. We realize its hard to compete with the Jewell's 4 row temporary movable bleachers and lawn chairs circling the turf. Enlow is a close second I guess...
  21. Bobref's description is certainly correct - the members are the schools (principals), who elect the Board / Exec. Committee, which then hires the administrative staff - but the difference is the IHSAA is a quasi-governmental entity and the Commissioner pretty much controls the executive, legislative and judicial decision-making. jets - the Board / Executive Committee is made up of 19 members. The state is divided in to 3 geographic districts, with each district having reps from 4 enrollment classes (1A - 4A), plus 3 reps for the North & South regions (for female, minority & urban "classes") and 1 rep from p/p schools. The reps for District III (which includes our neck of the woods) are: Jeff Doyle (Barr-Reeve), Tim Grove (N. Knox), Larry Cochren (Washington) and Tom Black (East Central). Joe Hermann of Mater Dei is the p/p rep, but is retiring at the end of the school year so there will be a new person elected.
  22. Washington is right on the 3A / 4A line, so my guess is they might be in the mix for moving back down if a couple of 3A move up.
  23. Assuming no other movement, probably nobody - just leave S32 as a 7 team sectional. If HH makes another run this year, wouldn't they get bumped up to 4A in 2025?
  24. I remember. But in the last 2 classifications, there has been a lot of movement of several former 3A schools to 2A (Pike Central, Sullivan, Brownstown, Salem, Brown Co.) and Washington moving to 4A in the latest one leaves a very distinct group of 8 3A schools within the pocket of SW IN. That said, I'm not saying a different group couldn't be decided, but it would be almost idiotic to split that group up. And yes, I realize idiotic is certainly not out of the realm for the brain trust on North Meridian Street. As for Sectional 24, Washington replaces Memorial, but I wonder if BNL will get moved out? That seemed like an odd addition last year.
  25. Might be a somewhat different situation because of wrestling being a 1 day Sectional with the winner based on team points. With football being 3 games and travel expenses being what they are, I just don't see the IHSAA doing anything but looking purely at geography. We shall see soon enough I suppose.
