Tanner Boyd Gibson Southern. was 3A Jr all state last year don’t know where on the list he should be but he should be on the list for top QBs in the state. see no reason to think Coach Hart wouldn’t have the QB at GS prepared to perform as a top QB in the state on a yearly basis. 11 years in and he is 5/5 on all state QBs

What if I told you that I’m just less libertarian than you? I haven’t voted left or right in years…but the idea some libertarians have that you can just cut off all taxes and government overhead and things will run smoothly is foolish. I have no problems with local/state governments using taxpayer dollars to better their communities. Hilarious that I’ve let you go this far calling me essentially some socialist liberal when that’s not the case at all. Im more of a centrist who is opposed to federal government overreach on individual liberties than anything. If a local community wants to use taxes to make the lives of their community more enjoyable I’m all for it. you just keep making all these assumptions about who I am as a person and it’s the biggest swings and misses. here you are yelling at a millennial thinking he is some lazy liberal socialist who wants free handouts and yet all you’ve learned about me is far from that 😂😂 I think this is strike 4 by now…you should have stayed in the bullpen before rekindling this argument

I appreciate this. It’s really hard to open up about hardships that we all go through and often times you’re met by people who think you are just telling a sad story and want to be a victim. In reality they are success stories and the actual sad stories are all the kids/young adults who didn’t make it out and never got the chance to tell their story. I’m not saying 1 soccer stadium is going to fix that but I know for a certain fact that many people in Indiana are very apathetic to ideas like this. This apathy is reoccurring for a multitude of things and it has set a tone. Successful young adults like your daughter are left wanting more and if they consider or follow through with leaving, they are just told “you’re the problem” like I was today. Friends and family are not a sufficient reason to stay in a community if a person is not happy. Costs of living are on the rise everywhere but quality of life is arguably at an all time low in communities like many found in Indiana. 1 person/1 venue/1 sports team isn’t going to fix this but if every proposal gets thrown away then the people are left with little to nothing at all. We have to stop vilifying people for simply wanting stuff like things to do within communities, positive experiences to share, and happiness in life.

Frankly I want to be done responding to you but I love how you conflate the taxes you pay as yours and yours alone but when it’s everyone’s taxes as a collective whole, it’s the “government providing these opportunities” no it’s the taxpayers providing these opportunities…and you are only 1 of them. And whether you pay $1M or 1¢ you have the same amount of say as everyone else.

Sounds like your dad understood the assignment and was a great man. you work hard and with dignity to give more than you take….AND you pass down those lessons to life. I apologize if what I’ve said here today is coming off as altruistic or anything else but I’m just tired of seeing people gatekeeping opportunities for future generations because they have entitlement to the taxes they pay. Everyone pays taxes…some people just believe they are entitled to dictate how every dollar is spent. at $1B, the cost per resident for the entire state of Indiana would be less than $160 per person…and that doesn’t even factor in commercial properties that also pay taxes. I think I saw only the Indy area would be paying for it but the end result is still not that much money. Most people who have the audacity to complain probably pay more in annual fees on their credit cards than what this would cost over multiple years. that lack of perspective coupled with the entitlement really gets me

I don’t wish anything ill on him but I hope he at least lives to see the day where there are millions of people working hard to make this world a better place I saw a thing recently that said something like “there is nobility in the old man who plants the tree for which he won’t live to enjoy the shade” it’s a soccer stadium and surrounding area meant to enrich the lives of the very people who are going to pay for it. It’s going to provide opportunities for people to work there and it’s going to inspire generations of people to do something else than to pick things up and put them down in a concrete building for 12 hours a day. and I just fail to see how that is a bad thing to want

Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit. Call me a hypocrite call me whatever you like it doesn’t matter. you’re not the only taxpayer and there are plenty of people who pay their fair share of taxes just like you and me who want their tax dollars to go towards improving the community. Nobody likes paying taxes, but since we have to pay them, it would be nice to see them go towards tangible things that make a difference in the community. Wisconsin isn’t a utopia and I’ve never said it was. For me personally it just provides the best opportunities for me at this point in my life. Gibson County isn’t the only place in Indiana facing those hardships…but you know this already considering you always advocate for taking away sports for schools in the most impoverished areas. Go visit crawfordsville or Thornton…go to south Indy in places like Irvington…go to pike county and see the people whose kids go to pike central who you say should board up their football program. shoot….just go to south bend…you have Notre dame and it’s world renowned school and absolutely gorgeous campus….but 5 blocks down every business has barbwire fencing around it I don’t need to disclose any of my generosity and that doesn’t matter at all. I have helped where I could and ultimately I’m only 27. I’m trying to build my life for the future so that one day I can give outrageously and no desire to take wads of cash to the grave. I’m 1 person just doing my best with the goal of one day uplifting entire communities and restoring some humanity to this world. What’s hilarious is that you’re the bitter old man who will tell people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps….but you’re telling someone who has done exactly just that to step back in line and implying as if I do absolutely nothing. it’s kinda funny how that works. You’re being confronted by the type of person you want everyone to be if they face hardships and in turn you are trying to shame me for it. Money is only useful for providing opportunities and I think it’s ridiculous to let people like you go unchecked on trying to take away those opportunities. one day, there is going to be a thread on this forum where one of us will have sadly passed away. 1) I’m not complaining. I’m the success story. The sad stories are our friends and family who took their own lives so early, the girl who at 20 was killed by a drunk driver, or the other young people who end up addicted to meth and either die from it or end up in prison….or the kids in Evansville who get shot and killed because of gang violence. I’m the success story to a long list of obstacles that I’ve overcome. 2) I wake up everyday and I mean every single day trying to prove myself right about people who want to flaunt their money around like they are better than me. I’ll just add you to the list of people who called me “Trailer trash” and people who wanted to keep me down. You have no idea how hot that fire is inside of me and how much I’m willing to overcome to shut people like you up. You don’t know me, you only know what I have told you. 3) you could say it was trauma bonding or whatever…but when Coach Hart took over Gibson Southern and made it into what it is today, it was the only success story I had in my life. I admired his work and dedication to doing things the right way and the football team served as hope for a bunch of poor kids working hard and winning in life. It’s why I somewhat obsess over the team…because they show every day what discipline and hard work will do for you. 4) I’ve considered moving back to indiana many times but the opportunity isn’t right for my wife and I. We both have so many family members there and we have talked numerous times about going back…but the time isn’t right. All of my friends and family still live there and I care deeply about all of them and that’s why I still care so much about what goes on in Indiana because it’s not just me this is about it’s about our friends and family and the kids down the street.

I did flee the state. I was born here in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I attended school here until the 4th grade when opportunities for my parents arose and we moved to the state of Washington. when the recession hit my family lost their home and we were forced to move to Southern Indiana. I was in the 7th and 8th grade and we were homeless. My parents as well as my 3 brothers slept on the floor of family members houses…eventually my dad saved up enough money to buy a trailer home…but it had black mold in it so as a 8th grader I spent my hours after school fixing up a trailer with my dad to make it somewhat livable. at one point the only walls in this trailer home were bedsheets. We didn’t even have plumbing hooked up in the shower/tub…so you know what I had to do? I had to take pots of water and go outside the trailer and fill them from the water spigot…then bring those pots inside and heat them up on a stove…once the water was heated, I had to pour them into a freaking blue tote that sat inside the tub…..I did this every day just to take a bath and be clean only to get on a bus and be called “Trailer trash” every single effin day My parents had to work incredibly hard at lame factory jobs while I had to watch my brothers and be responsible for cleaning this dilapidated trailer and cooking meals for them. I spent 8 years of my life growing up in extreme poverty being put down by a community littered with alcoholism and drug addiction…the best career opportunities were working factory jobs and being a miner. SO YOURE DAMN RIGHT I LEFT THE MOMENT I HAD A CHANCE AS AN ADULT. I don’t exactly mean to put part of my life story out there but you’re so disconnected from what is actually going on in your state as a bitter old man. This wasn’t that long ago…I’m not even 28 and these events of my life happened in 2007-2015…and if you think I was the only one, I had classmates at Gibson Southern who were living in a barn…my closest friends had to rent a studio apartment that was in a someone’s shop building…she was 16 years old and just wanted to be in a safe place to work on her studies again…you’re damn right I left that place and I’m sick and tired of hearing from old men like you about issues that involve just a decent standard of living and things to do. You have no idea how miserable that state is for so many people and you sit there on your high horse every day acting like we are all entitled brats and that people wouldn’t enjoy going to a nice soccer arena and enjoying life a little bit if anything you’re the most entitled person around here…you probably don’t make more than 200k and you probably don’t pay Jack crap for taxes…and yet you lecture everyone on how to spend tax dollars as if you make up any sort of significant portion of the tax revenue. Shut up already and have some damn humanity….let people have something to look forward to like going to a sporting event at a nice stadium

the cost right now is that the brightest, most innovative minds are leaving…the people left behind are uninspired people working for wages that barely get by at a job that is largely lackluster and doesn’t offer much upward mobility. these people are facing depression and poverty at incredibly high levels and often they turn to drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism….which in turn fuels a demand for said drugs that results in more organized/unorganized crime…and with that comes violence. and then you want people to believe that private investors want to invest in these areas that are filled with people working 12 hours a day and irresponsible with their finances. the private investors looking at Indiana probably see opportunities in cheap manufacturing labor than anything else. Anecdotally again, we can look at my beloved Hs of Gibson Southern. They grow up and see Toyota as the place to be….some of their parents make great money there don’t get me wrong….but it’s a factory job and is HARD. They work long hours 6 days a week…many don’t even work at actual Toyota but subsidiary companies under Toyota. If you don’t do that, the next best industry to work is mining which is one of the most incredibly difficult jobs in the world and comes at great risks to their health. and you know what those people do with their hard earned money if they are responsible with it? They go somewhere out of state to spend it….they don’t go to Indianapolis…many rather go to Florida or Tennessee…and then they fall in love with those places. They think about moving there because those places have more things that interest them and the job opportunities are often the same as what Indiana has to offer if not better.

I’m just going to say it and I know it’s going to make some angry…and some of you already don’t like me INDIANA IS NOT A FUN PLACE TO TRAVEL TO. Everyone knows it. Ffs I’ll never understand why Hoosiers stand in the way of making their own state/area more interesting/fun for everyone The smaller cities such as Evansville are struggling with violence and drug usage…the other destinations are either college towns like Bloomington/South Bend or places like French Lick which are slowly fading into being forgotten. And by reading some of these comments….it just seems like some would rather have nothing at all than to add just 1 thing that would make people want to stay in Indiana….and those same people are likely older and not even the intended audience for something like this. speaking anecdotally…a very large percentage of my classmates from high school and college have left the state for places like Tennessee and Florida. The ones staying I’ve noticed are often tied to factories/mining/agriculture with next to none in Healthcare/entertainment/or just entrepreneurship in any capacity. some of you may have no interest in projects like this and will never go watch a soccer game…but your grandkids and great grandkids one day might. You’re going to want your grandchildren to have all the opportunities life could offer…you’re going to want them to go to great school….you want them to fall in love with other bright creative minds who are driven to make a positive impact on this world….you want them to raise a healthy family in safe neighborhoods We all want these things, but if you don’t foster an environment that welcomes these things, the future generations are going be raised in hardships and struggles…and the kids who rise above those challenges are going to continue to leave to find success elsewhere

Playing in MWC almost didn’t work out for Josh Allen…he didn’t even want to play for Wyoming at first. actually kinda funny story about him…at the time when he committed to Wyoming I had 2 uncles working for the Marshall football recruiting office….Josh Allen was BEGGING to get an offer…most at Marshall liked him a lot and told the coaches they should offer. The coach who had the final decision(Idk if it was QB coach/OC/ or HC) was quoted by my uncle as saying (in some southern draw of an accent) “I don’t want to bring in a QB…I like the QB we got…I like the QB we got coming in next year too.” so Josh Allen went to Wyoming as his only offer and like 3 years later that coach was fired/resigned from Marshall

This is why it’s a debate/discussion topic some people believe that natural talent will win out almost every time and the NFL doesn’t miss on guys much others believe that coaching, competition on a team, and university resources are incredibly important and that without it, natural talent won’t get to fully develop For some kids, they can go play for anyone and they will continue to develop at their pace….for others…they need top level coaches and stiff competition for playing time on their team to truly get the most out of them and reach their full potential. on top of that…some schools do a better job than others for certain positions…like if you’re a WR, Ohio State should be a top 5 destination….and Navy would probably be absolutely last because they don’t believe in the forward pass lol

Right but getting coached up by Nick Saban is a little different than going to New Mexico and playing for the lobos. you can go sit for 2 years with saban and become an incredible player….or you can go play right away for the lobos and depend on the ole “if you’re good they’ll find ya”

Definitely lucky to come away with just a broken hand. what’s crazy to me is that I had no idea this was a possibility until my sophomore year of college. I was playing Lacrosse at Wabash College and ya know…I wasn’t very good so I got pretty familiar with the trainers office and often helped them where I could. If not for my curiosity and asking what this machine was (AED) I might have not learned about the risk of being hit in the chest at just the wrong time and place. like I mentioned earlier…there is so much good that is going to come out of this…aside from Damars foundation that has now raised 8 MILLION DOLLARS (awesome) the awareness of this risk is now immense and someone’s child’s life is going to be saved from this awareness no doubt

It’s more of a fantasy football debate. I play some leagues that are devy and use college players. the debate is circled around what transfers should do. do you transfer to a lower level school in hopes of an easier path to playing time….where ideally as a top prospect you would show out and perform above expectations…..or do you go to another P5 school where you get better facilities, coaches, and competition that improves the development of the player….but that comes at the cost of playing time for the majority of players. it’s not always non P5 schools either….sometimes it’s just the powerhouses…like players who play for Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, Clemson….they might choose to leave in hopes of more opportunities at another P5 school. maybe debate isn’t the right word for expressing the thought, but it is often a discussion had about players who enter the transfer portal

Probably best to just start a thread instead of having us GS fans/anyone a fan of Brady’s game clogging up Purdue threads and getting off topic. there are so many potential landing spots for him but to touch on a few…. Purdue….every report says he still loves Purdue. He’s just uncertain about their plans for him and the future. Can’t rule out him returning. Alaimo did the same thing last year. Oregon. Oregon has QB depth issues and there are some rumors they have some interest but nothing too pressing. To me this would be a surprise landing spot as it would arguably be the most ideal landing spot…but it comes with probably the most uncertainty about the future. But that’s what you get with powerhouse programs that do phenomenal jobs recruiting every year. It’s a big revolving door of amazing players. Ole Miss. Reports coming out today that Brady will be visiting Ole Miss this weekend. Not an SEC fan, but this would be a fun move. Lane Kiffin would be a good coach for any young QB imo. Ole Miss has depth concerns at QB too. outside of these 3 bigger names I’m sure there are plenty of G5 schools expressing interest….but with most G5 schools it comes with a trade off. The ole Playing time vs development debate.

This is just my opinion…but whether it was Brady/Alaimo for 2023 or now Card 2023 was always going to be difficult for Purdue. Their non conference schedule doesn’t have any real tune up games. VT Syracuse Fresno…..throw in Michigan Ohio State. brohm leaving might have been good timing for brohm and Purdue….Walters and company have a lot of work ahead of them though. right now I think Purdue is looking at 6-6/7-5 if they can get some OL from the portal and maybe a receiver they should be in the running to repeat recent success. This assumes though that Walters can do what he did at Illinois…which is taking 3 star guys and getting them to play in his scheme at a 4/5 star level

As bad as this is for Demar, his family, and the Buffalo Bills…a lot of good like this is going to come out of this accident sometimes you see something on the news about it, or maybe someone explains why an AED is at a game of a random sport….but millions of people who love sports saw it live in action on primetime TV and it was probably one of the scariest things many have seen on live Tv. now you can bet that every training staff for a sporting program is going to get a refresh on this training and coaches are definitely more aware of this risk. Even the players are now aware. tl;dr As scary as this is and I hope that Mr Hamlin survives….there are going to be children whos lives are going to be saved because of this horrible accident.

agreed. To me I think it’s just common sense….that being the most obvious thing is probably it and there isn’t much else to speculate on. Damar Hamlin went for a tackle and elevated his arms exposing his chest. Tee Higgins lowered his shoulder and ran into his chest. The following events/symptoms/treatment align exactly with what doctors/bobref are saying is “Commotio cordis” looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, moves like a duck….it’s probably a duck obviously we will know more as this unfolds …there will certainly be an investigation…just think the obvious answer is probably the right one for this

I don’t think people are acting like experts when they are sharing the most likely and most known about cause. anyone who has played baseball, lacrosse, hockey, football has noticed an AED on the sideline. It’s there for this reason. The training staff is trained for this exact situation. the fact that Damar Hamlin is alive and in critical condition right now is because the staff at the nfl game were trained for this exact scenario and their training is what has kept Mr. Hamlin alive so far. don’t need to be an expert at all to understand any of this, just have to be a sports fan/former player. people using this event as a means to push a political agenda, or advance their social media status by grifting, are just disgusting.

Certainly but they are low probability and probably nothing to do with vaccines like some low IQ individuals on Twitter might think. I think this is almost certainly the one you hear about in baseball/lacrosse with being hit in the chest very hard at just the wrong time. Baseball catchers and lacrosse goalies have huge chest pads just for this reason and yet it’s still a risk even with the protection.

I’m surprised LSU didn’t go down in disaster. Their whole coaching change was messy and BK didn’t exactly get off to the best start in terms of the public eye. 2 weeks into the season their top WR was threatening to leave the team and it looked like a mess for the locker room

Most of it is good….you see people wishing him the best and saying sorry things didn’t work out. but yeah those bad apples stick out…especially those without situational awareness Or understanding of the college landscape in general. Shoot half of them probably believe that all these kids are transferring because they are chasing money and they all have these big deals lined up
