  1. I’m not a big believer in funchess tbh...but autry...man. I don’t know how to explain how bad it felt to have him on one of my fantasy teams last year and have him sit on the bench the game he put up like 4 sacks lol. Im a packers fan so I don’t really follow the colts too much but man. I would say McDaniels backing out and getting Reich was like changing your mind on the powerball numbers and picking the winning numbers doing so. Colts are in such a good position with development/cap management/roster strength.
  2. What are your expectations for parris Campbell? I picked him up in a few rookie drafts thinking that he would be an immediate starter with TY and either Cain/funchess
  3. I’m not drawing questions to the actual concept of getting better, just that saying “get better” is a bad take in the scheme of debating the topic of p/p vs public in athletics. Im not sure there is a good comparison to use but it would be similar to telling a depressed person “don’t feel sad” or if someone were to stub their toe and say ouch and me to reply “well don’t do that”. Basically it’s the idea of person A saying “I got this problem” and person b saying “well don’t have that problem”. That’s what I meant by that comment
  4. I can get behind this too. And while I agree, there are some people in the belief that getting to that game has more implications than just a trophy. Maybe there is a kid that went unnoticed and a college scout spots them on the field during the title game. While sure it may be a game and fun, I think you would be surprised by the number of families who view football and sports in general not as just a game but an avenue to a college education...especially in lower income areas, athletics is a more promising ticket to a college education than academics. That’s just a sad reality of today’s education.
  5. I have no class 😂🤷🏼‍♂️ I don’t really mind believing that some coaches are better than what their abilities are because of the players they have
  6. There is no need to include T32 in response to what I’m saying. He is his own man and can/does stand by his comments. I personally don’t agree with separating p/p schools from public schools in athletics. That’s just my personal opinion. But I also agree with the assessment that enrollment isn’t the best way to evaluate level of play for athletics in high school. Sure the success factor helps and isn’t perfect but there are a number of other factors that play into this complicated matter
  7. Oh. Well in that case why don’t you just remove yourself from conversations about these sort of things. Because whether you care or not, there are hundreds of thousands of families who do care about these sorts of topics and you’re just preventing honest dialogue. 🤷🏼‍♂️ And whether you think it’s funny or not, there are over a million students in Indiana who would be impacted by any such change and that’s no laughing matter
  8. 😂😂😂😂...I’m dying over here. Okay okay.....so lemme get this straight... you are saying memorials success these last few years was more about coaching than athletes...even though before 2017 Hurley’s coaching record 59-52...if you go back to Lindauers sophomore year...he was 50-48. Lindauers freshman year Memorial went 2-8. The 3 years prior to that memorial had to scratch and claw to get to 3 or 4 wins on a season and then...AND THEN 😂 you wanna make offhand/between the line comments about a coach who has gone 76-12. And on that note...vs public schools he has a record of 73-6...leaving a record of 3-6 vs p/p schools. 5 of the 6 losses were to teams who made it to the state finals (3 of those 5 won the state title) I think you are undercutting the athletes you guys had....especially Lindauer and Combs...both of them were once in a generation players and to say coaching was the reason for success is a huge discredit to their abilities IMO. In regards to this whole conversation and this “get better” movement.... get better...just triple the number of players on your team. Get better...just take a historically losing team with no sectional titles to a winning tradition and a 76-12 record over 12 years. Get better...have your community take one empty stands and pack them so much that you have to bring in extra bleachers and build a larger stand section. Get better....have your student athletes commit year round to bettering themselves...during the summers for the past 5/6 years travel to Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, and the Indianapolis area to play against numerous top programs and champions from Michigan to Oklahoma to Alabama and is everywhere in between. Get better...try and make your schedule as tough as possible with conference restrictions...do so well that your conference welcomes the idea of your team leaving the conference and you get a conference realignment that will allow you to schedule 4A/5A/6A teams.... ”get better. Just get better. It’s as easy as that”. Telling a team to “get better” is a lot easier if you are talking about a team that isn’t giving it everything they got...and for GS, the community, the coaches (even at the youth levels), and especially the players are giving absolutely everything they got and have been for the better part of this decade. At this point, I don’t think anyone could possibly ask the Gibson Southern community and its players to work any harder or sacrifice more in the goal of getting better. “Get better” such an asinine comment
  9. There was a thread about it somewhere. I don’t remember the exact specifics just that someone notable was transferring and I believe others mentioned a few more names. I’m really just pressing at the facts that the FWBL dropped 50 kids in 1 class.....to graduate a class of about 180 and to have a class of 130 coming in is quite the difference.
  10. Is there something going on in FW that isn’t being said? I believe I read a thread on here about a few athletes transferring out to other FW schools. does anyone have inside knowledge about the situation?
  11. When 3A south realizes the may still have to face Chatard
  12. I have no idea. I only follow GS really and mostly because I have a younger brother who is a freshman now on the team
  13. Gibson southern lost in the semis of a Indy tournament a few weeks back. Lost to Lawrence north by 1 possession I think who ended up either beating Warren Central or lost in a close battle the next round in the championship. They also went to St. Louis for some 7on7 work where scores weren’t kept. I’ve heard they had a good time and got better and that’s all that matters. This past week GS was in Springdale Arkansas for a Southwest elite 7on7. Didn’t find as much success in terms of Ws but they won a handful of games...the biggest take away from this is they played very talented schools who have very talented players. GS also had an 11 on 11 scrimmage vs mt Carmel and castle I think. I think this is pretty routine by now though. GS has been doing these kinda of things for the better part of this decade under Hart. I think there is a Brownsburg team camp soon and maybe the National Select 7on7 in Alabama?
  14. Princeton vs GS in semi state! Lol. Just because it can actually happen 😂 oh lord ihsaa what have you done
  15. Ummm. I’m not really trying to argue. (Truly) but your info seems off...at least according to max preps. I won’t disagree with you saying they should be considered one of the top teams having been to LOS 2 years in a row. what I’m seeing on maxpreps Lindauer is gone...Top WR/LB is gone in combs...leading rusher in Johnson is gone also apparently Pence who was the #2 WR is the QB now. McCool returns (maybe he was a starting rb last year splitting with Johnson or something) he was also the #3 Leading receiver. idk man...I’ll take it that you have direct information more than I ever would but at least on the surface it seems to me that memorial will be playing without it’s 2 top receivers and the RB who was essentially the #3 returns.
  16. Is this a troll? I mean I see memorial doing good....and they bring back a great WR in pence....but as far as I’m aware memorial graduated a lot....and other teams are looking good. Central got the evans brothers back too
  17. Oof. Big oof lol Did they play at Mt. Carmel then? Edit...come to think about it. One absolutely had to be at mt Carmel as a player way back when given their last name
  18. This is what i referred to. There were a lot of coaching changes in the area in 2012/2013. Very hard to tell who went where. If I recall North Posey and Heritage Hills had their LONG time coaches retire that year too...as well as southridge forest park and I think mt Carmel. Almost a complete changing of the guard for southern Indiana football
  19. There may be now...I just recall hearing some of my older family members who went to Mt Carmel talking about knowing all of the coaches or something...I think 1-2 of the original coaches hired on took jobs that forced them to no longer coach at GS so maybe their vacancy opened the door for some guys from reitz. The whole timeline is a little funny because Coach John Hart left for warren central and took Coach Nick Hart with him. And Lewis was signed on soon after...then Coach Nick Hart took the job at GS...the following year he had to address the media about false reports that he would be taking the Reitz job. I’ll find the address he made to the media
  20. I could be wrong but I thought the only connection from Reitz to Gibson Southern was Coach Hart himself...and he played there as a QB in the early 2000s and later a coach under his father. Things could have changed by now but I recall the coaching staff was largely made up of old friends from the days when John Hart was coaching at Mt. Carmel.
  21. Southridge in sectional 32 is a very tough draw. Especially knowing their stud of QB is no longer playing football. The kid can flat out do anything with a ball....and it seems he is focusing on Baseball/Basketball. to the point though. I feel like if The IHSAA were to implement rolling cycles for success...they should seed teams....how to do that where everyone is happy is anyone’s guess lol. If they were to do it though they should seed by regional....get rid of sectional assignments and just have regional assignments. Keep the sectional championship and such but seed 1-16 even if they don’t do a full 1-16, they could do 1-8 and then have a “random draw” for who the other 8 teams play
  22. Check 3 comments up lol in this day and age...Twitter is the fastest way to find information
  23. I think it’s just a chopped version of screaming eagles...so likely a USI student/grad or someone who has family attending there.
  24. Now this may be slightly off topic...but why is it that football is 1A-6A....but softball baseball basketball are 1A-4A and soccer is 1A-3A? to me this is where the success factor falls short...especially when there are more schools that field soccer, baseball, softball, and basketball than football. Looking at softball alone...Gibson southern (650 students) and Leo (850 students) are by far the smallest schools in 4A softball....do they compete and win...heck yeah they do. Both made it to semi state and leo lost in the finals of the championship...but if it were divided up like football and the success factor played its part, the two schools would be in 4A/5A and not having to face 6A schools...maybe the make to a hypothetical 6A softball class but at least with more classes there is more room to find the sweet spot of where a school really belongs
