  1. Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive... - C.S. Lewis
  2. IIRC she went to El Paso. That and the little junket across the border telling people not to come, like they're really going to listen, is about all that's been done to address this. If the government isn't going to guard the door, it's up to the state to take up that task. We're literally being overrun in parts of the state down here.
  3. Big brother is watching you. Big brother is still watching you.
  4. I gotta send this link to a few people....
  5. Not surprised at this. They know their guy & his administration/handlers have screwed up practically everything they've touched since the inauguration. IMHO. Damage control starting early this cycle.
  6. Ditto. Dwenger/Concordia & Homestead/NS might be close for a while. The rest are pretty obvious IMHO.
  7. What is the cost? Not sure if I'm interested in paying just to post reactions, but as much as I come here to read a small amount might be doable.
  8. So I realize I'm not one of the more active people here (174 posts), but just curious why I'm only allowed two reactions per day? Is there a threshold that once you pass a certain number of posts you get more? Website host rules maybe? Not that I would put up a ridiculous number of reactions, but sometimes after reading through the stimulating discussions here, I could see myself with 3 to 5 during a day. Not complaining, just curious.
  9. Carroll at Dwenger Concordia at Northrop Luers at North Side Snider at Homestead South Side Wayne In that same line of thought.... "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice" Rush - Freewill
  10. Carroll Dwenger Homestead Snider Wayne (Would prefer a Luers win, but man that's a tall order this week.....)
  11. Good advice. I haven't lived in IN for 15 years, but still have a few nieces/nephews playing sports. For me it's one way to maintain a connection with my home state and a sport that I love. Not your specific situation, I understand, but yeah keep the account open. Sometimes there's some very interesting reading available here, and you may want to chime in on occasion. Like the other guy said, it's free.
  12. Wow. I live in Waco (moved here from Indiana 15 yrs ago) and had no knowledge of this. I echo the sentiments of this piece saying that justice be dispensed in accordance with the law - just the law. To go further than that is over stepping their authority. Similar to legislating from the bench. But I guess that's what the left is willing to do. BTW, even though TX and Waco are red (for now), there are many blue "pockets" locally that are slowly increasing in size. Partially fuelled by Baylor University. A conservative, Christian college in name only (IMO). My daughter graduated from there, and some of what she was taught was unbelievable to me, for the kind of school I thought they were.
  13. All I saw in the video was a long ad, then a few minutes of world news. Anyhoo, I'm familiar with this drill. We ran it ad nauseum when I was playing HS football, but that was in the dark ages of the early/mid 80's. My youngest son was still having to participate in this drill in youth football, probably 10-11 years ago. He loved it. Gave him an excuse to, as he called it, "deliver the pain", regardless if he was the ball carrier or tackler. When he was a freshman in 2-a-days he and a varsity player went at hit hard in that drill, and I mean hard, every time their turn came. Coaches finally moved them to different spots in line so they wouldn't injure each other before the first game. These days if I was coaching, I would not run that drill. These days if my kids were playing youth ball, I would expect the coaches not to run that drill. So many alternatives that were not available previously to teach those skills. Make the game fun and teach skills in elementary with no contact. Start contact in jr high. Regardless of age, IMO there's no need for this drill anymore, it's just a good way to get your players hurt.
  14. I'm aware of the benefits of turf and it's probably here to stay more-or-less. However, I absolutely loved playing on grass in the rain/snow and resulting mud! Loved to practice in it, too. Don't get me wrong, playing in nice conditions had it's benefits as well, but the grass in bad weather was a nice change of pace here and there. The managers probably felt different.
  15. At the school my kids attended football HC was also the AD & softball HC (obviously did not teach), and all the assistant football coaches were full-time teachers and also assistants in other sports. One of the football assistants was the baseball HC and also full-time teacher. Full disclosure this is a 2A school, so everyone is expected to wear more than one hat. Other area schools in 1A-3A, are to the best of my knowledge the same with one or two exceptions. Can't speak for 4A - 6A.
  16. I've wondered about that myself over the years. It's Northrop BTW. Easy error to make, though.
  17. Well, obviously I screwed up when I went to edit my post and hit save too early. In a nutshell, I was commenting that what the school system is doing is silencing dissent, and is this the direction we want to take on both a local and possibly national level.
  18. SNL is the left.... They won't turn on "themselves".
  19. When the left does it, it's OK. When the right does it, it's not. That is all you need to know. Move along. My daughter's summarized view on it goes like this. The "left" are doing these things for good reasons/causes and the "right", simply, are not. Therefore, the end absolutely justifies the means.
  20. Interesting... This got me to thinking about how that all went down, but it's been long enough ago that I don't trust my memory so much lol. New Haven and Woodlan, yes. I believe a fair amount might have also started going to Heritage. They were neighboring school districts back in the day, and the drive from the S/SE area of Harding's district to Heritage was not a long one at all. Almost every year I was at Heritage (early-mid 80's) we would get a few Harding kids who got in trouble and expelled for the semester attend Heritage, until the suspension was over. Some could have very well gone to Leo, but man that looks like a long haul from the SE suburbs and further out.
