So a Dwenger debate pretty much ruins this thread. Too bad. Congrats to the Irish on a historic season. Only a historically great Center Grove squad spoiled perfection. Beating 3 of the 4 GCL Ohio teams (St. X is the big school state champion), riding roughshod over Westfield and Carmel, and winning the “big” rivalry game over Chatard. Congrats to the Eagles for being up to the challenge of playing when and where the IHSAA scheduled them and finding ways to win. And boy were they fun to watch last night! The HCC should be fun next season and Sectional 5 will be a bear.

I didn’t really start this thread to revive the Covid argument, but I have to admit I’ve come full circle. From believing this thing would run its course by fall to believing I will eventually get it unless I’m vaccinated. Basketball is certainly off to a rocky start, with Butler having to cancel most of their non-con schedule and NFL teams struggling to field a competitive roster (see Broncos without a QB) or being unable to practice or play at home (see 49ers and the overreaction in SF). I don’t know how high schools will deal with it but I am confident we will see high school basketball through March. #marchmadnessinabubble #IHSAAforthewin

Quite a few on this forum thought we wouldn’t get to this weekend with HS foootball. I was optimistic but had my doubts. 95% of scheduled high school games in Indiana were played. We still don’t know all the answers for this pandemic, but congratulations to every member school, coaches, staff and players on staying disciplined and being a valuable source of entertainment in your communities. Let’s hope 2021 is closer to normal(whatever that will be) and we are all in the stands cheering our student athletes.

CG didn’t call off the dogs in the 2nd half, but they did call off the hunt. Very conservative play calling designed to run the clock. No doubt Westfield played better and Webster took an absolute beating, but props to those guys, they never quit fighting. As far as the program goes, what they are missing is having more than one middle school. Getting more kids playing the game at that level will play dividends in high school. I’m sure that will happen in a few short years.
