I saw in the paper today that Goshen Freshmen beat Northwood last night. Good news for the Goshen Staff as the last couple years Goshen had not been able to field either a freshman or JV team let alone beat a program like Northwood.

Goshen is 3-3 over the last 6 years playing Fairfield and Fairfield has won the last 2.

I know Elkhart showed interest in playing Goshen as part of their nonconference schedule or possibly scrimmage but I heard Goshen's AD wanted no part. I wish Elkhart and Goshen played as i hear many years ago that was a big rivalry.

I too did not attend but have heard good things coming with the new staff at Goshen. Also heard they have a top young QB they are very high on. Looking forward to the Elkhart vs. Concord game. A number of D-1 players on both sides.

Over Half the Elkhart County Teams have new coaches this year. Elkhart, Jimtown, Fairfield, Goshen. How do you think they will do? Hearing big expectations out of Elkhart and big improvements at Goshen.

How is Warren the best defense in the state when they lost 7 games last year and gave up over 40 points 3 times. Granted they may be improved and have a lot coming back but best in the state????

So Mishawaka just signed on with the game of the week broadcast? That is a little odd.

Just announced that Channel 46 WHME will no longer broadcast high school sporting events like they have for the last 34 years. Sad news.

Elkhart has also received a few transfers from Goshen. Also hearing Northridge is benefitting from some transfers as well. Last year transfers helped Northwood.

Elkhart has received a number of transfers for this coming season. A couple of them are big time players from Mishawaka.

All Time Jeff George was an amazing passer with a big arm but the 2 that most impressed me were James Banks and Rick Mirer. Those 2 did everything. Throw, Run, Play Defense, Punt, and Kick. The 2 most dominate players I ever saw. Summer of 89 I went down to see my nephew play in the All Star game back when the Div. 1 kids still played in it. Game was played in the old Hoosier Dome. All the reporters were saying how dominate the South team would be especially with their defense and that it would be a big blow out for the South. Well it was a big blow out as Mirer and the North team put up 41 first half points. I saw James Banks in punt formation chase down a bad snap over his head that went in to his own end zone. He picked up and ran through the whole Warren Central defense for a touchdown. Most amazing play I ever saw in high school football.

I wish Elkhart still played Goshen. I know Goshen has been down for a while but in the old days this used to be a really big game. I know Central was playing Goshen until Elkhart went back to 1 school and Goshen dropped the game.

Going to seeding opens up a whole bag of politics. There is already enough there with how sectionals are aligned.

Surprising news.

Was there any thought of Coach Amstutz staying on as head football coach as well as taking the A.D. position? I know there are a few schools here in Northern Indiana that do that. For years Bill Sharpe was both A.D. and head coach at Jimtown. I think at Goshen the current A.D. is also the head wrestling coach.

Coach Amstutz has done a great job at East Noble. This move creates a great opportunity for someone lucky enough to get this job.

I would think this would be the ideal job for a young successful head coach at a lower class school looking to move up in class. That is unless there is a in house assistant ready to take over?

Speculation has Goshen, Warsaw, Concord being joined by S.B. Adams in the same sectional. I also saw the Elliott kid signed to play at Ball State giving Goshen 2 players head to D1 next season.

Amazing run for Penn High Football. Between Coach Geesman and Coach Yeoman they combined for over 500 wins. Best of Luck to Corey in whatever lies ahead.

Sad that 3-4 wins is all that is predicted for Elkhart.

For years all I heard over here in Elkhart was the excuse for the lack of success in athletics was the split to 2 high schools. Now that we are back to 1 high school records have only gotten worse.

Wow I didn't realize Coach Wogomon resigned well before the season was over!! Matt Thacker moving from Fairfield to be named new head coach at Wawasee. Great hire for Wawasee!! NLC Defensive Coordinators better be ready to defend the option with Warsaw, Mishawaka, and now Wawasee being option offenses in 2024.

So these write ups would be filed by the game officials and not the schools AD?

If this IHSAA write ups at Goshen really happened wouldn't you be able to look it up with the IHSAA? Is this possibly why Coach Wogomon stepped down or was he asked to resign?
