I don’t disagree with anything you have said here, but my post isn’t about the kids that won’t participate because there are plenty of those, as much as it is about the kids who physically and/or mentally cannot. I agree that the success factor does nothing for many schools, even if a team in the sectional or regional they are in moves up. But you have to admit, it is difficult to complain about the success factor when a number of teams made deep runs in the tournament, including getting to the State title game, and a couple of them even winning a State title. That would indicate more that this is actually working to have those teams on a level that matches the population in their building as far as the number of kids who are actually participating and have the resources invested in the program to compete.

Time to fix the broken 6A tournament
Irishman replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
You have to think logistics when talking about any tweaks. Scheduling an additional game is a problem. 3 games on Friday and 3 on Saturday are the limited. Having a championship game at 10 am would not work. I do think some things could be done differently though. With a cap of 32 teams, seed the tournament, or at least seed through the semi state round. It will be interesting to see what happens next year as Carmel moves to the Southern half. -
I agree that the open enrollment thing is a joke. But what we see is that those who do transfer are not transferring for athletics so much as they are thinking they can avoid a level of discipline if they stay. We have students who have enrolled the last week or so, who were told if you transfer, we will not expel you...... Soooooo, what you are saying is that the 1,000 or so kids at Dwenger is basically the same as the 1,000 or so at New Haven? Both are 4A schools......with the ONLY difference than the “traditional commitment and drive to win”??????? Seriously? Take one day to walk our halls, and I guarantee that impression will change in a heartbeat. As others have said, committed parents make a HUGE difference, no doubt about it. What has been basically ignored, outside of a post or two, is the special needs population. Our building alone has about 10% of its population in that category. Very few of them are on diploma track. With certificate track kids in our building the absolute highest possible rate for graduation is at 92%. And there are a number of those kids that have minimal skills. The special education staff in our building makes up 25% of our staff. The new pathways to graduation our ingenious politicians came up with has forced even more lower functioning students into gen ed classes. In one class alone, I have close to half the class that are low functioning. Communication skills are the level of a 2 or 3 year old. I have others in that group that do not communicate at all, are confined to wheelchairs, wear a bib to catch the drool coming out of their mouths, or have other severe disabilities. It fits the schedules of the paras and nurses that have to accompany these students to have them in one period, but they make up 10% of my population for this semester. Now who wants to continue the conversation about the REAL differences? And who still actually thinks you are somehow being “punished” for success? When you want to have a REAL conversation about who gets punished for what when schools are classified, let me know.

School Choice is Good For America; round 3
Irishman replied to Muda69's topic in Gridiron Out of Bounds's Out of Bound Forum
I won’t make any excuses for them as there are non. BUT......you had to go back to 2010 and 2012 for examples. The fact is that DCS gets well over 200 calls every school year from public schools. So you site two examples....and yeah, I am sure there are more. But this is 2019. You are trying to promote educational freedom, and the world around the young man I mentioned has been turned on its head in a school setting you promote repeatedly on this thread. -

Not saying that all.....you know what would NOT happen in those buildings though? They would not cover it up. Not stooping low at all, just showing the hypocrisy in your thinking. -

Some may be out of listening range of the Bob and Tom show, or may be too young to have heard this. Enjoy https://youtu.be/MVJ7itLhDRM -

Roncalli just cannot seem to keep itself out of the news. Sooooooo many people failed this young man; from the guys on the team he was the most loyal fan of, to the adults in the building who should have done more, but swept it under the rug. I feel horrible for this young man and his mom. Just thinking about the humiliation he experiences replaying these incidents every day makes me sick to my stomach. Sadly, it’s just another example of the double standard in place. A great employee, who excelled at what she did is terminated simply because of who she is, and this stuff is excused by the so many of the same people. The Dean of Students should be dismissed immediately and charged with failure to report. https://www.wthr.com/article/police-investigate-alleged-assault-inside-roncalli-football-locker-room

I have AMC on Demand. It is on there. The last detail I can recall is the group that came to hold the people in the stadium “hostage”. And then the group leaving the stadium for good.

Thanks for the offer. I may take time over Christmas break to catch up. I just need to figure out where I lost track.

I was so hoping Carol would just catch Alpha.......and beat the living dog 💩 out of her. So the previews are showing Negan volunteering to be the next spy? Interesting. Also saw the first commercial for the World Beyond series. So I guess that will show who had the helicopter in TWD? Since showing copters was a part of the preview? I may give it a try. I gave Fear the Walking Dead a try. I am not sure where I got off track, but I have not even been that interested in going back to see.

With so much on the line in a game like this, and coming off a bye; they don't show up. They made plays at times, and defense looked great for a couple of series. Defense has been on the field too much in the first half. Injuries continue to pile up. This team just looks like it is hanging on, or that they may have peaked last week. The Niners are good....but Green Bay is making them look much better than they are. That said, this conference is going to be between the Saints and the Niners. At least I get to go to bed at halftime. On a side note, what is up with NFL officiating? The USC against Adams was an awful call. The illegal hands to the face was a HORRIBLE call; that was a 3rd down play. The NIners are punting if it is not called. The block in the back on another Green Bay series puts the ball at 2nd and 16. In the Cowboys game, the two tripping calls were horrendous. It is a shame that the NFL is becoming more and more like the NBA.

While the injuries are mounting, this was an underwhelming performance to say the least, and so disappointing to see it fall apart as the game progressed. Seeing the record in this series flash on the screen was pretty depressing. While the competitive level was there for most of the game against Penn State, that gave us the feeling the program was still on the right track; it was not there today. The lack of depth in key spots was exposed. Even though they are bowl eligible, I think the Purdue game is a MUST win now.
