  1. Years ago, I remember people, not here, just in general, ripping me for saying the story behind Jordan's first "retirement" were because he had a gambling problem. Stern came up with this plan to keep it under wraps. No way could the greatest player of all time be doing something like gambling on his team. There are just too many stories like this for it to be a myth. At the same time, it appears Roenick had a problem too.
  2. 13 carries for Jones and 6 for Dillon....for the f'ing game. That is inexcusable. 3rd and 2 late in the game, you don't even think of running the ball? Ridiculous.
  3. Packers were out of sync most of the day and have been pretty much this season. It seems to be a mix of problems. The run game is way too good to not lean on it more than they do. The deep pass game has been bad for years now and they go to that way too often. The defense was out of place most of the 2nd half after a solid 1st half.
  4. I would add that Mayer is not great with blocking in the run game. I love the guy; his positives outweigh any negatives.
  5. Forward may not be as big of an issue as a sideways lean. There are 2 officials on the end line under each upright. Reminded me of a game when I was coaching at Cathedral. We played LaSalle in the Herbstreit Classic at Nippert. Nippert does not have HS posts. Our kicker hit them 3 times on FG attempts. College posts are not as wide as HS posts, and on any HS field, those kicks would have been good. We ended up winning, but what a difference make they can be.
  6. I think Michigan State may end up being worse than IU
  7. All your years though? The bowl game against Oklahoma State…last year? There have been a number of occasions under Kelly that they have done this. The USC game at ND 3 years ago, I believe is another.
  8. ND has a history of getting out to fast starts then going passive to try to hold on to a win. This is another exaample. Remember the 3rd and 17 run by BYU from deep in their own end of the field. The missed 2 point conversion looms large now as well.
  9. Pyne looked good in the 1st half. Hel looks a lot more comfortable. Love seeing Mayer getting the looks he is.
  10. Michigan showed up in the 2nd half, and IU's play calling did nothing to adjust to the pass rush. Bazelak is taking too many hits.
  11. It happened during a commercial break, so I don't think anyone ran into him. The sideline reporter used the term seizure, so I am guessing he just collapsed; still no reason given as to why.
  12. So many mistakes and to be tied at the half is not what anyone expected in this one. Really hoping Mike Hart is ok....great dude and great coach as well.
  13. He ain't wrong 🤣
  14. lol The coach at the end of it.....hilarious.
  15. R has options. It is a 10 yard penalty, they can choose to re-kick from K's 30, or if it is touched, 10 yards from that spot. If there is no touching, it's a loose ball foul and goes from the previous spot.
  16. Taking my wild guess, the key is the ball was not touched and had not gone 10 yeard when K initiated contact. So yeah, penalty on the kicking team. Had R touched the ball at the 47, then no penalty call for contact.
  17. Some great memories guys. I was in junior high when our coaches took us to the IU Illinois game. While it was cold, we had a great time. IU barely beat them, but a win is always a win. I think that was Mike White's 2nd season? Lonnie Johnson had a solid game, but we were able to get behind the bench....he was having a blast, chatting up everyone around him...on the team and in the stands.
  18. Anything that gets donated is appreciated; no judging of those who don't from those of us on the admin side. There have been a number of very active people over the years who have not donated. We have even had people promise to pay, or use a donation as a bet and not follow through......no big deal though. Seems that things always work themselves out.
  19. This is pretty cool to see just how much alike these two plays are
  20. The story was there were a couple schools considering him before the extension was signed. I don't believe they were in a power 5 conference though. Outside of the buyout, at that time, it was the right move. It's easy for some to look back now and say that was a poor choice, or even not the best choice, but it really was a good move based on the results of that time. It had even been discussed here that the constant turnover of coaches, including the head coach was a factor in IU's problems.
  21. A few will say it does show IU is willing to spend money on the program. But with buyouts like that, there may not be much left to bring in a coach who could really do something for the program.
  22. And with that buyout, someone better be having a chat with the AD and anyone else involved in saying, yep, looks good,
  23. Anyone have Mark Cuban's number? I got a new phone and lost my contacts. The concern now is the bigger picture. Do guys in the locker room pull the team together? Or is it falling apart? The rah rah stuff, while it is genuinely who Allen is, can become noise with the way this is going. Just like a coach who tries to be a hard ass. I am not sure either extreme is good for long term success of a program. Losing on a regular basis creates a level of doubt. Just like a virus, that doubt can spread quickly.
