  1. No, not just him. I told my boss I'd volunteer to teach any class I'm licensed for this year if need be. We all should do the same. Do whatever we can to help. Yes?
  2. Um, not at all. I'm not at all cheering not to have sports. I'm cheering not to have anyone get hurt or die from this virus. Don't be dumb@$$. I have three kids. I'd like to see them all graduate. I'd like to see them all get married. My dad died when I was in the 5th grade. I was being sincere and was offering a sincere opinion. I work with some people who fit some stereotypical 1950's teacher models that do not work in 2020. I see that in some of the posters here. I've been in workshops and have given workshops where people ask questions about things.....never mind. Believe what you want.
  3. Thanks for answering. I'll ignore that man who I wonder what he teaches in his classes. I wonder how he treats kids who are immigrants or undocumented... I wonder how he treats children with ideas which are different than his... 1. So they are not being hospitalized...or not getting there to your hospital...or it isn't that bad. 2. Gotcha. 3. That wasn't the stereotype I was getting at. See our peers here. Remember, I've been teaching for 20 years. 🙂 4. I know it isn't like that here because of my friends who work at Parkview, Lutheran, and Dupont Hospitals. They are taking in large numbers of patients from the surrounding counties as well, so not just a localized thing here. But they see it every day and they are continually reminding us to wear masks and take good care.
  4. I've seen different, but then I watch traditionally soccer/football rich programs around here. Also, the tide is turning around here to more artificial surfaces and having two surfaces for different sports, but not always. I've seen a lot of FB and Marching Band. I've seen the coaches I know bend over backwards to help young men and young women to play whatever they'd like. I simply threw a wish out there, but you can go contrarian if you'd like.
  5. Can you/they volunteer in a harder hit area? ...rejoice that things are hunky-dory in your area? Be thankful? I've seen this comment in other places, but typical football coach mentality/stereotype is screaming through this site lately. Maybe it's just me.
  6. Because I'm a fan and attend both. I see guys at some schools allowed to play both and at some schools not allowed to play both. I, sometimes, see fields that get chopped up from overuse. You should know that I teach and I support as many students as I can, in all sports.

A good citizen would understand that cultural norms, values, and morals are what it takes to be a part of a liberated, free, republic-democrat society.

I do teach Sociology on occasion and have a lot of problems with Social Justice and I can't get the warriors to even listen sometimes. They forget that words to not necessarily mean only what they give their own definitions to. If that were the case, then we'd all see the light easily. They also lump people into groups far too easily and don't give and take much. They're just as dug in as they accuse the others to be. They also have twisted the roots of SJ. There are many people out there with valid ideas. My opinions.

There's nothing wrong with it. Quite nice. Lift Every Voice and Sing By James Weldon Johnson Lift every voice and sing Till earth and heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of Liberty; Let our rejoicing rise High as the listening skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us, Facing the rising sun of our new day begun Let us march on till victory is won. Stony the road we trod, Bitter the chastening rod, Felt in the days when hope unborn had died; Yet with a steady beat, Have not our weary feet Come to the place for which our fathers sighed? We have come over a way that with tears has been watered, We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered, Out from the gloomy past, Till now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast. God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, Thou who has brought us thus far on the way; Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee, Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee; Shadowed beneath Thy hand, May we forever stand. True to our God, True to our native land.
  11. Without hearsay, are the factories and other places doing it with social distancing, temperature checks, and keeping people out who are/were exposed? Or is it just show up and do your job? I am a teacher and the virus and the illness did hit the community I teach in. I can't tell you how many students had it, but I do know that homework was turned in late because of it and I do know that whole families had it. It was worse on the parents and grandparents, but the kids did suffer terribly, too.
  12. It would be nice to see if Blackhawk Christian, Canterbury, Hamilton, some of the Lake... Christians stick with their soccer winners or pick up 8 man if it comes to fruition... Smith Academy in FW, and any other schools that I'm forgetting. Remote locations? In Indiana? Come on. Obviously that didn't quote correctly. OOPS!

Yes, patients, not those trying to keep from getting it. Two very different things. We knew that some hospitals were giving it to patients. It was being given locally with some success when other things were not working well.

I would think that a US History teacher would know how to be a good citizen.

We used to sing it a lot at church. It was a good thing. It was for unity.
  16. We read in the newspaper that we are all systems go. Maybe there was an email. (ah, yes, at 8:20 am) Masks are not required, except on busses. Social distancing when possible. If I get sick and die, it may have been because they were scared of losing kids to neighboring school districts....ahem, $$$$$.
  17. AZ will blame it on the Indigenous. How wishy-washy is stage 4.5? Sounds ridiculous. Save face. Roll eyes.
  18. That is exactly how I see it. I'm not sure why people gave a thumbs down here. The contraction didn't come the way he said it would, so he'll just let this natural cause fit his agenda.
  19. Like everything else, someone just thought that up. It's a great idea, but someone else has another idea that makes just as much sense.
  20. Privacy laws are a difficult thing in a school. You often can't get the proper information you need to help a student. This COVID-19 information isn't important, but other stuff is and some things you can't read. It's mystifying. If you have no payment history and no credit score...
