  1. How many times are you going to keep saying this? We understand. We also know people who have died. We also know people who have been on respirators. We also know people who feel like they've been hit by a bus. We also know people who say they had it in January and felt like poop.
  2. There are so many unknowns. It is new. My physician isn't playing around with it, is yours? My children's uncle has a confirmed case. He's in quarantine. His wife and children have been tested. We're awaiting results/information. Let's hope they fall into the undead category.

  4. It certainly is an athletic reason, as described in his tweet, but he is out of state. His dad was an excellent player.

  6. Interesting video. I have a minor in history, almost finished with a BA in history. I did learn a lot of it outside of school. I went to a multiracial church and learned a lot there. I generally teach English/LA, or ESL. Lately, I've been teaching ESL/Spanish. I try to bring multiculturalism in as much as possible for the betterment of everyone.
  7. Naturally. There's a nice video awaiting you in OTB.
  8. https://www.harlanonline.com/sports/ihsaa-announces-changes-2020-football-season Interesting. From Iowa. *Ioway for my former Amish students.
  9. The test I had wasn't too invasive. I think I've had Flonase hurt more.
  10. A high percentage of people with an MD, OD, ANP, NP, PA, PA-C, RN, etc. seem to go with the fact that we really aren't sure how it is going to go in the long run because it is very new and what they have seen in just a few months can be really bad. So they tell us not to mess around.
  11. I thought more would chime in. In the Latin American countries I've lived in they track people by cell phone number, which you kind of own for life. License plates are tagged to vehicles/people for life, too. It's a little easier for Big Brother. I thought that they were going somewhere on their comparisons to Europe. Their numbers are down because of how they reacted, some not the best at the beginning, but they did what they needed to. I cringe each time I read something from Jim Lucas followers.
  12. Yet I got how many signed form letters from parents WARNING me that some SEL (like I had time to be trained in anything in depth) and religious and sexual topics better not come up in my room or else I could be sued!?!?!?! Now I'm supposed to be a part of a mental health benefit. I see how that works....or maybe I don't.
  13. My kids, and most of the kids that I know, have been controlled well by their parents. They've been able to see a small amount of people, be it from church or cousins, and maybe work, in controlled environments. I do know of some families from school that let their kids do anything they want. LIberal and conservative don't fit in this scheme. Maybe some of the people here did not control the way that their families met with others during the past few months. As you've all clearly said, we are a country of liberty, of good citizens. To each his own interpretation. Kids have not been thrown together in schools, where parents do send sick kids, where kids do not want to go to the nurse, where kids do not want to always follow the rules (which sometimes comes with a statement that mom or dad said I didn't have to type of comment). And then you'll have some teachers that are buddy buddy telling them that they think that the virus isn't as bad as "they" say so they don't have to follow the rules in "this" room. It's going to be a hoot. A real hoot.
  14. Where did you study medicine? How old is this virus? I caught a virus in S. America, they think, or from immigrant students...maybe?...the infectious disease specialist isn't sure. It knocked me to my knees while teaching. I almost had to go to half days. It took weeks to figure it out. It's in me. It will come and go as it pleases. If my immune system becomes weak, it could rage. It could remain dormant for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, nobody knows. The best doctors money can buy don't know. Nobody knows what this new virus does yet.
  15. Okay, so remove those from the Indiana deaths, because Indiana is counting it correctly.
  16. Musical schedules. We could see some interesting match-ups.
  17. I have work with children who have interrupted schooling, or even no school at all. It is repairable. It simply takes diligence and an understanding of what you are dealing with. It's not exactly difficult. You simply can't skip any steps. You go back to where they are and proceed. I'm watching a lot of whining and complaining. People calling each other packs of wolves or flocks of sheep. Most claiming to be Christian. A splintered cross.
  18. I wonder if we're going to see local doctor vs. local health commissioner. What if they practice in the same building and have differing views?
  19. And it's been said before, by people much more medically educated than most of us here, that it is a rare occasion when someone dies of a fluke and it is counted as covid related. But I do have a license to teach history, so you've got that.
  20. It's federal law, and you must do it. I wonder who is in charge of the EL program over there making sure that it is done. I messed up my facts yesterday. We had 131 flu deaths in Indiana during "flu season" . Sorry. https://www.in.gov/isdh/files/Weekly Influenza Report-Week 20-2019-2020.pdf
  21. I'll try to remember that. Follow the ILP for those illegal students.
