  1. Looking back, it definitely was, but at the time I didn't quite "appreciate" the feat as much sitting in the LCC stands. 😀
  2. LCC did play in the Hoosier Heartland Conference prior to their move to the Hoosier Conference. Before leaving, they had racked up a 7-season run for 2004-2010 and before that a 5-season run of outright or shared title from 1998-2002.
  3. 1A LCC had a 47?-game winning streak back from 2008 to the third game of the 2012 season ... losing to 3A Culver Academies by 2 in 2012. They then assembled another 14 wins in a row before losing in 2013, again to Culver Academies. Along the way, they picked up four consecutive state championships before being one of the first teams impacted by SF. In conference play, LCC had a three-season undefeated conference run although they were knocked off by conference foe, Tipton, who went on to an LOS runner-up finish, during sections in that third year.
  4. Perfectly legal. I'll see your blocked punt and raise you two blocked punts, in the same play, by two different punters, with the same blocker ... and a score for the blocking team. Saw this one in real life with LCC and RCHS almost a decade ago ... to the detriment of LCC.
  5. Cass is a bridesmaid, Tipton is a three-time bridesmaid, and Eastbrook is a four-time bridesmaid. Monrovia has been bride and bridesmaid.
  6. I understand and appreciate the sentiment, but there'd be no way I'd put my kid or anyone else's out there to make that point. If they want my kid there at 3:00 pm to increase the chance that I don't have to pick him up at the hospital after the game, or worse, I'll endure that inconvenience.
  7. I heard that someone was questioning Coach Kirschner on the use of the term "fish fry" and he said, "Hey, it's not what you are insinuating. I have friends that are Catholic. Even play against a couple of Catholic or honorary Catholic teams during the year." Viola, Sectional of Death. Why do you think Coach Sayler is so quiet when they ask him questions about LCC? He doesn't want Twin Lakes to get tossed into the Sectional of Death for consorting with Catholics. 😀 I heard that Guerin was trying to convince someone that it's spelled "Guerin," but it's pronounced Luther.
  8. Ultimately, you'd need them all to end up in 1A so that you could place them in Sectionals 47 and 48.
  9. Should put HC, Lutheran, and Covenant Christian in Sectional 37 and put LCC, Scecina, Ritter, and Mater Dei in Sectional 38. The regional could be billed as the Reformation Revenge Regional. Instead of foam fingers, the could sell foam church doors. Knee-jerk reaction?
  10. LCC and Pioneer are probably the two biggest poster teams for this save for a couple of seasons ... and it doesn't even need to be the sectional championship.. Since 2001, they have ended each others' seasons 10 times in sectionals and twice in the regional. Also realize that, in four of those years between 2001 and now, they couldn't meet because LCC was in 2A when Pioneer was in 1A or Pioneer was in 2A when LCC was in 1A. On at least a couple of those occasions, LCC and Pioneer were ranked #1 and #2 in 1A by AP, Coaches, or both and on many of those, they were Top 10 ranked.
  11. I think many of them post in the Officiating Forum. 😀 Lord, I apologize for that there.
  12. Sectional 28, the Sectional of Death, is also known as the IHSAA Catholic Invitational. About four or five years ago, the Pope made West Lafayette, despite the Red Devil mascot, honorary Catholics and the IHSAA confirmed it by making sure they were paired with their "fellow Catholics." You just knew Chatard was going in the same sectional with Roncalli when they moved up. Sectional 22 is the IHSAA Catholic Invitational Lite. I'm just surprised they didn't find a way to squeeze Memorial and South Bend St. Joe into that sectional. Might have been "too obvious" if that happened.
  13. I kind of like the idea of LCC being slotted in the South in 2A. get a chance to see a new mix of potential opponents from different neighborhoods and counties in the post season.
  14. I think LCC has a decent shot at a sectional tile in 2A if they continue to play the way they have the last couple of weeks. Monrovia and Speedway will provide a couple of challenges there, but it'll be nice getting a couple of ranked or near-ranked opponents, if the ping pong balls bounce that way, early in the tourney. Of course there's the "Be Careful What You Wish For" scenario, as I suspect the odd-on favorite coming out of Sectional 38 is going to be ranked Heritage Christian.
  15. Could be the pizza guy ... sometimes, in lieu of a tip, I hear guys in the press box let the delivery guy wear the headphones until halftime is over. 😀 Lord, I apologize for that there.
  16. It's not just folks in Tipton who might wish that ... I'd have no problem with Facebook getting swallowed up into the Pacific or a fault line indefinitely.
  17. If you get a chance, swing by the LCC youth games on Sunday. Having retired from coaching in 2020, I just still had to go by and visit with the kids and my old coaching colleagues. All of the 3rd/4th grade kids are brand new, except for a couple of them that played for me when they were in the 2nd grade right before COVID. As I watched them get the pre-game talk from the coach, I looked at the names on the jerseys. I inquired about almost all of the players, from one of the other coaches, who coached with me for roughly 14-15 seasons there, "Is that kid related to ...?" So many of the kids were younger brothers or cousins or nephews of the folks that I'd coached over almost two decades there. I figured it was about time for me to retire though when I noticed at one of the high school games a kid that I coached my very first year with their own young kids. Figured it was time to retire before I uttered those words, "When I coached your dad ..."
  18. The last time those planets' orbits got close was 2014 when LCC had been bumped to 2A via SF. LCC lost to RCHS by a field goal in semi-state that year which allowed RCHS to advance to LOS and beat up on Mater Dei for the blue ring. Given how LCC played RCHS, if LCC had won that semi-state, the HC would have brought home the blue ring as well.
  19. 2 Point Games Benton Central @ Lafayette Central Catholic Cass @ Hamilton Heights Rensselaer @ Northwestern 3 Point Games Twin Lake @ West Lafayette McCutcheon @ Muncie Central Kokomo @ Harrison Tipton @ Western Richmond @ Anderson LaVillaStrangiato @ North Judson ... the "Never Turn Your Back on a Monster!" game for @Donnie Baker North Newton @ North White ... If it were the Great White North, I'd give the edge to the Vikes, but no such luck Sheridan @ Eastern
  20. Spray that stuff on hands, arms, jersey, helmet, pants ... anything on a receiver that might directly or indirect come in contact with a ball. Also worked well to bring down wasps and on fire ant piles too. Not a big fan of the GSTs either.
  21. It's when Tom Brady preps them that it often presents an issue.
  22. I dare you to come say that to my face! I gotta go.
  23. This is what the Hoosier Conference looks like. Gives each team a chance to schedule a couple of outside games, rivalry games, etc.
