LCC vs. Seeger in Sectional 37. Despite hailing from Lafayette, LCC was placed in 2A South due to their 2A Success Factor movement. LCC and Seeger last met in 1A back in 2006 when the Brian Moore-led Patriots beat the Knights in the second game of sectionals 30-22. Shortly after, Seeger grew into 2A. If LCC makes it out of Sectional 37, potential match-ups with ghosts of football seasons past could see LCC squaring off against against former 1A foes, Eastern Hancock and LOS opponent, Scecina, and 2A former regular season opponent, Heritage Christian. If the stars align correctly, there could be a re-match of LCC-Linton who last met in 1A at LOS in 2015. With that conjectured, there's PLENTY more football and LOTS of star-aligning that has to take place for these to happen. That always ends up in the Sectional of Death. The only thing missing this season is that Chatard's sitting up in 4A this season

Jeff beating Richmond 70-0 isn't that much of an indicator. The past seasons Jeff's beat Richmond 77-6, 54-12, 44-6, and 63-6. In those four seasons. Richmond finished those seasons, respectively, 1-8, 4-6, 2-9, 0-10. Richmond, currently at 1-6, lost to Muncie Central 16-8 and Muncie Central lost to Anderson 36-0 and Tech 56-28. Jeff's biggest win to-date would probably be the win over Kokomo 34-14. Will have a better feel for that after next week when Kokomo faces Harrison. At 6-1, Kokomo's defining win is either 28-14 over 4A Western or, perhaps, last nights 28-14 win over 4A Logansport. My gut says Western is probably the more signature of those wins, although from a conference perspective, the Logansport victory is more important to Kokomo who needs to beat Harrison next week to force a three-way tie between Harrison, Jeff, and Kokomo for 1st place in the NCC.

Harrison is scheduled to play Kokomo in Week 8 and Richmond in Week 9. Their website is now showing Hammond Central as their opponent for 10/1 (and parents have been sent e-mail looking for folks to take tickets and man concessions for a home game ... the original game against McCutcheon was supposed to be an away game, not a home game). https://www.harrisonathletics.com/sports/fball/index

Good thing it wasn't the Clinton Prairie Gophers. In addition to being messy, it would just be downright cruel pelting a bus with live gophers. ๐ Don't forget to tip your waiter!

It's that weekend already? Man, the season has gone by quickly.

Love the sportscaster ... "Get your big butt outta here."

Which one's most likely to get you a date in the parking lot after the game with the fan who had a couple before the game and brought in his own flask?

That's probably Rule #1 in most DC's handbooks. ๐

I think schedule strength may not be doing TippValley any favors. Outside of SB Washington, they have the lowest schedule strength of the teams in Sectional 26. I'd give the inside track to Marian right now in the sectional, provided they don't get beat up too bad playing Elkhart. If TippValley wins Sectional 26, they should win that regional. As @Yuccaguy said, things get tougher after that regional given that semi-state probably goes through Sectional 28. Even Guerin, at 1-5, is a danger from that Sectional ... their loses coming against, from the Coaches' Poll, #9 2A LCC, #6 2A Heritage Christian, #1 3A Brebuef ... who also occupies The Sectional of Death, Sectional 28 ..., #1 4A Roncalli, and #9 4A Chatard.

Game night score updates

I'm only outside for a half tonight and then headed to a volleyball tournament for the weekend ... an indoor one, so weather will be less of a concern for me this weekend. Not so much for my son who suits for both JV and varsity and heads on the road to Muncie tomorrow. "Luckily" they got to practice in the rain and cold earlier this week. He told me that he'd rather play in extreme heat rather than wet and cold. I informed him that there are very few extreme heat games in Indiana that end your season, but plenty of wet, cold ones that are the last one of the season for half the teams on a weekend. Of course, I said it with a smugness knowing that I was going to be indoors this weekend. ๐
