  1. So given this reading, teams that were moved up this year could stay up based on points in previous classes as opposed to new class? Would LCC also be in that grouping of going down if they don't win a regional? LCC had 6 points total ... 4 for 1A state in 2019 and 2 for 1A regional in 2020. They bumped up to 2A this season. Assuming they don't get out of sectionals, they would have 2 points ... all earned in 1A. The general ruling for SF is you need 2 or or more to STAY in a class if you were bumped up. Does that mean that LCC automatically stays in 2A regardless of what they've done in 2A based on the 2 points earned in 1A or is the IHSAA going to say that 2 of LCC's points in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons were earned in 1A with none earned in 2A therefore LCC moves back down? Or stated another way, LCC has to pick up a regional win, 2 points, to stay in 2A? In the case of SA, Danville, and Hobart they are all playing with "like" class points ... all 1A, all 3A, and all 4A respectively. Similarly Cathedral is playing with all 5A points, as are Roncalli who is playing with all 4A points, and Luers who is playing with all 2A points. Memorial is playing with all 4A points and New Pal is playing with all 5A points. LCC seems to be playing with mixed-class points.
  2. 2 POINT GAMES Roncalli @ Western Twin Lakes @ Hanover Central Northwestern @ Concordia North Newton @ Rensselaer Blackford @ Tipton South Vermillion @ Lafayette Central Catholic 3 POINT GAMES Cass @ Delphi West Lafayette @ Brebeuf Jesuit Hamilton Heights @ Guerin Calumet @ Knox Yorktown @ North Montgomery Traders Point Christian @ North White
  3. Western's 6-3, but two of their loses have come to West Lafayette and one to 5A Kokomo who has only dropped games to 5A Harrison and 6A Jeff.
  4. Why ask why? Were the sprinklers not working at Luers field? Asking for a friend. Lord, I apologize for that there.
  5. West Lafayette's kind of Jekyll and Hyde come tourney. The schedule this season didn't do them any favors though. Jeff was probably their toughest game this season and that was at the start of the season. McCutcheon had a bust of a season. At the same time, they can be a dangerous opponent to overlook. They have the ability to be explosive. All things equal though, I'd put my money on Brebeuf ... except when I'm going for broke in the Hoosier Conference Pick 'Em and trying to dig out of the big hole I've dug for myself. It is a shame that these two teams have to meet right out of the gate. Reminds me of a few seasons where LCC and Pioneer were 1 and 2 in the state and ended up having to play each other in sectionals.
  6. Your folks probably told you what I tell my kids when they ask if they HAVE to go to Purdue for college: "You can go anywhere you want as long as my part is the part that I would have had at Purdue with my employee remission and you living at home."
  7. I think it's more convenience than anything else ... LCC was odd-man out in the SF re-structure. WeBo moved up to 3A with SF and LCC moved up to 2A. Frankly, I think the IHSAA was like "Hey look, here's a table with an open seat" and that's where the new guy, LCC ended up this time.
  8. So it was Mitchell! At least you got away with $5 parking, you outta see what the cost for non-Catholics was at the auto-de-fe events in Spain. I will concede that there are some high school bands that would deserve more than just a pelting with dye-filled water balloons for their horrible renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner .... or worse, Ironman. A couple of games I've gone to, there should have been a human sacrifice to atone for those renderings.
  9. Now I'm curious. This sounds personal. 😀 Was it Mitchell or Randy doing the interfering?
  10. And to think, in the off season there was talk of contraction. Glad to see SN getting a little traction back. Hopefully they can continue to build on it.
  11. Don't know about Tiptons, but it looks like LCC's bus got caught in the rain and arrived late and the refs started the game on time. Can't believe the IHSAA would allow such a thing to happen. And Tiptons could have waited and ... *whisper from the side* I've just been informed that this was a home game for the Knights. I got nothin'. I gotta go.
  12. Playing for a share of the NCC title before the game and leaving with the whole thing ... Harrison 42-22 final over Richmond.
  13. McCutcheon's away for the next two weeks and, after that game with Zionsville, they won't have need of a "next game" field.
  14. Luers likes the field wet ... I believe that @Coach Nowlin can attest to that. 😀
  15. Not to knock Harrell's, but I've noticed that, this season in particular, it has been off on some game times and even keeping up with COVID reschedules. For what it's worth, here's what RCHS's website says:
  16. Haven't been by 9th Street in a couple of weeks and, having retired from coaching before the 2020 season, haven't played on that field in two seasons now. With that said, the new work on the field several years ago has made it one of the premier 1A ... 2A in SF years ... grass fields to play on. The drainage there was amazing and the grass mix, Bermuda mixed in for durability, meant the field held up well into the tourney season. With that said, it may get stress-tested with LCC playing BC last week and with the Tipton slugfest that's going to happen tonight followed by hosting South Vermillion next week.
  17. What's going to be interesting is what 1A will look like with AC in 2A along with, likely Winamac bouncing back to 2A next go-round due to enrollment. Assuming LCC and Pioneer hang on to staying in 2A, that takes out plenty of the more recent contenders along with size. Covenant Christian may well end up 2A via enrollment as well. All they need is a regional to be bumped up, but they are facing off against Lutheran in sectionals and I think that Lutheran is the odds-on-favorite to not only win that sectional but also represent the south at LOS this season. Of the "power" teams left, that leaves Lutheran with no chance of worrying about enrollment bump up and, having lost to Covenant Christian in sectionals has no worry about being SF'd even with a blue ring. 'busco and South Adams ... although enrollment could creep on them as well ... and up-and-comer Parke Heritage would remain in 1A as the power trio in 1A. Of interest is, of all the schools listed here, outside of Lutheran, LCC and Pioneer are the smallest.
  18. It's kind of interesting that last year there was all of that "sky is falling" stuff about Covenant Christian recruiting from Ben Davis and their reigning dynasty. Funny what a summer break will do to fear. Heck, the Woofs have better odds to make it to LOS than Covenant Christian does.
  19. Gotta wait a couple of years minimum as LCC's hanging out in 2A south this season.
  20. That's their second one this season if I recall correctly. They missed out playing Harrison earlier this season when Logansport had to cancel. At least they got a decent draw for the tourney and got the top bracket of Sectional 18, so they should get at least a couple tourney games and a decent shot of playing for a sectional title.
  21. With my recent retirement from coaching last season, LCC's move up to 2A, and my sons' involvement at Harrison ... along with new work duties ... I've had a lot less interaction with 1A this season. Hoping to maybe catch a couple of 1A games during the tourney.
  22. Sectional 46 probably has the nod for the potential southern rep. Probably Sectional 44 for the north. Spoilers would be Winamac in the north and Covenant Christian in the south. Dark horses would be Traders Point Christian in the north and Springs Valley in the south.
  23. 1. Feet don't feel like they are on fire when you play in the heat. 2. Those dang pellets. Edit:. I Iike the randomness of grass.
  24. Probably would have been closer if LCC started the game before the second quarter. Get than man a shovel and some burlap sacks. 😀 ... *Led Zeppelin's When The Level Breaks playing in the background*
  25. Yep ... it's P/P 2 - Public 1 in terms of playing up when not required. Mish Mariam actually had petitioned a two class jump, if I recall the story correctly, but was only granted a one-class jump the first time they petitioned up. Scecina moved up to 2A by size and won 2A, then their sized dropped down to 1A enrollment and the petitioned to stay 2A. They eventually dropped down to 1A on size and then back to 2A as the poster-school for "SF: Things Gone Wrong" ... as the only team to be sent packing northward with no blue rings in the SF era.
