Was looking at the 3A poll and notice that Guerin is Top 10 and Tri-West is Top 5. LCC beat Guerin after spotting them a couple of TDs and Tri-West emerged after LCC missed a series of conversion opportunities. With Tipton and RCHS sitting in the Top 10 for 2A and LCC just breaking in this week, are we getting a potential deja vu of the last time that LCC visited 2A ... the first year Tipton visited LOS and the year after RCHS brought back a blue ring. If I'm not mistaken, LCC got stuck in the South Bracket this year, so could we maybe see an all-HC LOS appearance in November ... at least in theory? In the next four weeks, LCC will face off against WL, Tipton, and RCHS three weeks in a row ... at least two of those are at home.

This, combined with last week's win over Guerin and Pioneer's struggles in the early going of the season, has LCC peaking into the Top 10 in 2A.

Looks like the Sectional of Death is well-represented ... even with Chatard visiting 4A.

According to an article that I saw, IMG had played them last year and won 56-6. IMG had intimate-enough knowledge of the program prior to this season.

Given that teams were moved in Success Factor this season, even though enrollment numbers didn't happen, it will be interesting to see. My guess is that what will end up happening is that the enrollment/SF resets will start following even-odd alignment as opposed to odd-even. The other alternative is that SF and enrollment will be done every year, alternating. If they try to go even-odd, everyone who moved this season will get a three-year stay in their new classes ... unless they just wipe this season fully-clean. Plus those who were not impacted will also stay in place ... which could be good/bad depending on team. A team like Pioneer, which on first blush this season looks like they could be gearing up for a return to 1A could end up spending another three seasons in 2A if there's a new set with enrollment that starts 2024 season. On the other hand, a team like Covenant Christian, which just picked up a 1A title last season, could end up pulling a WeBo and get three straight state titles ... although realistically CC's game with TPCA makes a CC title this year not a slam-dunk.

LCC and Guerin have resumed play ... Guerin 28-13 just before the half. Lawrence Central leads Jeff 35-14 with 3Q in the back half.

I started a new position with the dean's office this summer and still ended up teaching an online course too since the new position announcement came to close to the start of the summer for someone else to take teaching the course. Couple that with my two boys travel baseball and it made for a less-than-relaxing summer. With the new position, I was supposed to see a slight break this fall, but got notice right before the semester started that I had to pick up an additional course ... basically going to teach my entire AY load this fall. In theory, I should be just doing pretty much just admin in the spring ... but I'm not about to hold my breath. At least next summer looks like it's just going to be a couple of weeks in Europe and then baseball travel with the boys. That should be a bunch more fun.

Gonna be a REALLY LONG semester.

Doesn't bode well for the semester when folks are already crying in the office in the first month. I usually get the guy who comes into my office after failing the mid-term, without the pre-reqs for the class, and then tells me how unreasonable the exam was and how I should realize that SOME students might not have the requisite background.

Older, little brother, LCC hasn't beaten younger, big brother, Guerin Catholic, since Kevin O'Shea departed half a decade ago. This could be the year that series gets interesting again.

West Lafayette beating Jeff, in general terms, wasn't surprising since they play Jeff close every year and had actually beaten Jeff before ... back in 2018. What makes me wonder is that my son said that WL didn't look all that good when they scrimmaged Harrison a couple of weeks ago. Scrimmages are not necessarily data sources to hang a season hat on, but will be interested in seeing what the Jeff - Harrison matchup looks like in three weeks. May get a glimpse when Harrison faces Westfield on Friday.

WL knocks off Jeff for the second time in four years. Last time this happened, WL won state. Deja vu all over again?
