I saw on Harrell that Penn has Hammond Morton this year....He also has us in against Cathedral

Maxpreps has Penn playing Merrillville the day of the Valpo game, and two games on 9/8 against Morton and St. Mary's

    IDK what is going on.

The MaxPreps schedule is often not reliable. The authority on scheduling in Indiana is johnharrell.net.

He wanted to be a head coach. He was a finalist at BD. He's going to get a lot of support from folks. I think students will buy in. You're right though, Tech's a challenge.

Please forgive my inquisitive nature but has Arsenal Tech named a new head football coach yet?

And what is taking so long?

Tech has not had an AD for a while (appointed one in the last couple of weeks), so I would assume that might be a factor.

I have just been designated to fix the conference realignment issue in central Indiana. By the way of breakfast and a round of golf with all AD’s and principals of the schools, everyone is on board and there are no more hard feelings. Conferences are now set based on enrollments, location, and competitiveness in not only football, but in all sports. Here we go!

HCC: Carmel, HSE, Fishers, Noblesville, North Central, Westfield, Zionsville.

With the departure of Avon, Brownsburg, and FC, HCC adds Carmel and North central. It becomes the true Northside conference of Indy. HCC also becomes the best conference in the state in all sports

MIC: Avon, Brownsburg, Ben Davis, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, Pike, Warren Central.

The “new” MIC adds Avon and Brownsburg. This conference is able to keep many of the same great rivalries that have always been there. Plus the great rivalry of the 2 suburbs on the west side.

Southside Conference: Center Grove, Columbus North, Decatur Central, Franklin Central, Perry Meridian, Southport.

With Conference Indiana folding, the Southside conference is created by CG. They take some of the CI schools and mid state schools to form with the addition of FC as well. A true Southside conference bringing back old rivalries and close travels. CG will start off being way ahead on the gridiron, but give it some times and FC and Columbus with figure out competition in helping them for the future. Decatur will rise as well, as their enrollment is almost at 6A level.

Mid-State: Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Franklin Community, Greenwood, Martinsville, Mooresville, Plainfield, Whiteland.

With Perry and Decatur going back to their traditional roots, the Bloomingtons slot in nicely to the ultra competitive mid state conference. Very similar sizes of schools all coming from nice communities who back athletics. With Whiteland growing, look for them to potentially reach out to the Southside conference down the road.

3 out of 4 of these conferences are under 8 schools. This is perfect from a football standpoint in allowing availability for non conference matchups. It’s too bad something like this couldn’t be developed in the future. What are your thoughts? Where did I go wrong? What changes could be made? Are there other schools that could fit? Only 5 more months until football season!!!

    DT's burner account?

Didn't remember your name and does it matter?  You can read and figure it out.  Regardless, it didn't matter to me.  BTW, I understood what you stated and implied the first time.

So you have insight as to how all the MIC school administrations feel about Carmel AD?  Good for you...guess you are "in the know"

Just informal conversations with a handful of folks.

Not a downgrade next year but if they don’t pick up CG afterwards it just comes across as weak.

I just can’t believe this is where we are in 2023…huge school bullies BD, Warren and Carmel shying away from CG due to hurt feelings.

Three of the four biggest schools in the state and those responsible for 5A/6A football domination since the turn of the century.

From the info I have, CG dropped BD in both boys and girls basketball and not the other way around. Not sure about other sports such as baseball, softball etc. It's also my understanding that CG returns to the football schedule in 2024 in week #4, but that obviously could change. I know that's why Penn disappeared from BD's schedule. They dropped the Giants for two years to play Mishawaka due to the conference rotation and then, by the time they were ready to pick BD back up, the Giants had signed a longterm deal with Pike. When Pike became a conference rival, Avon stepped in. But.......it's a beautiful Monday out so I'm going to go do something outside.

I have been out of town, but reading much about Carmel's plans to drop CG from all athletic competition.  If this is truly about the basketball game with the student's rushing the floor, this really has my head scratching.  I watch the video of a coach sending his players to walk around the students, yet he decides to aggressively push through the students bumping multiple kids along the way.  And this is ok?  Why didn't the head coach simply walk with his players?  It would seem its the classic direction, "do what I say and not what I do". A 40+ year old man decides to push his way through a group of students in lieu of simply walking around them? And this is what Carmel admin is upset about?  Yet they won't comment nor state how they plan to hold their coach accountable for an incident they initiated.  So you drop your top rival for 25 years over that one incident?  Its ok to have your players running off a field of competition for gun shots at a venue, but this type of incident self-instigated is the back breaker?? It makes zero sense......unless....

There is something deeper....I too believe Carmel is working to distance themselves from CG, to win favor from a number of MIC schools to get re-admitted to the conference.  There is something more going on here.  25 years together competing and can't even reach out to their rival school to discuss like adults?  Blind side with an announcement to the same school that stuck besides them when attempting to join the HCC?

But hey...as one long time GID member (just happens to be a BD guy) praises the Carmel AD for being such a swell human being recently in a post, indicating that may be enough to get Carmel into the MIC.  I honestly thought it was a joke at the time of his post, given it would take more for the state's largest school to get re-admitted to a conference they had scorned a year later, than simply having a "likeable" AD.  Now I am guessing he had more insight that I realized.

You can always say my name if you want to get my attention. If you go back, my comments were based upon how the relationship with former MIC-mates has not frosted so much towards the school to the north. Context is important, but I know that's difficult for some. But, it's really easy to tag people @Bash Riprock. Then you get a little notification.

Yes, and Carmel's vague defense of pulling out of all contracts doesn't help the matter.  Its a gross overreaction and I'd actually rather them come out and SAY that isn't the reason or else folks are going to speculate and not give them the benefit of the doubt, nor should they.

If you are penalizing thousands of student athletes due to a knee jerk reaction (of an event that is a 50/50 split in terms of responsibility at WORST) that is awful leadership.

But hey, the Carmel AD has an outstanding relationship with the remaining MIC members, which is what's really important, right @BDGiant93?

    This smells rotten.

Does it really matter?  My point still stands.

CG was an afterthought in football to WC and BD at the turn of the century...then started winning their fair share against the two...and now are dominating them so badly they are running to play Fort Wayne teams and out of state teams.

    Its absolutely hysterical.

(By the way, you are way too gullible when it comes to "coach speak.")

I'd hardly call IMG a downgrade from Center Grove. I can't speak to Warren's schedule. I do know in both cases that the coaches have been vocal about keeping the schools on the schedule. BD had an opportunity to schedule IMG on a one-year deal and took it, but the 2024 schedule has Center Grove on it. That could obviously change though. BD picks up Cathedral once Moeller drops off and Carmel doesn't drop off, so I'd hardly call it a weak schedule.

Every time Warren/BD change coaches, they fall farther and farther behind CG.

In the time Eric Moore has been at CG, Warren has had 7 head coaches and BD has had 4, now 5 (assuming Moore comes back this fall.)

    Nothing to see here.

And why did those four BD coaches leave?

    Dick Dullaghan (retirement)

Tom Allen (Wabash assistant coaching opportunity)

Mike Kirschner (stated reason was burnout...but was then pursued by Mt. Vernon)

Jason Simmons (Likely college assistant coaching job at MAC program that's his alma mater)

    Warren's coaches

    Shelbourne ??

    Wright (Left for Jenks Oklahoma)

Tutsie (Had a vision after reading Tony Dungy's book...and a losing season)

    Hart (Unceremoniously left seemingly unamicably)

    Tutsie (Awful year)

West (Move to Franklin Central to be closer to home)

    Kirschner...

Coach Simmons has not announced anything official, but the tea leaves say he's headed to Miami of Ohio as a running backs coach. Coach Simmons is a Miami graduate and played there under Terry Hoeppner. As far as the talent goes, yes, Ben Davis is very talented and will return several players next season.

And this is an upward football career move?  Position coach at Miami of Ohio?

If true, this is Coach Simmons' alma mater. He played there under Terry Hoeppner.

I am so thrilled for coach. He's truly a great man who has such a big heart. He cares about his players very much, and they absolutely love him. I know this is being really taken very hard by the players in the BD program, but I think they understand that this was an opportunity that Coach Simmons couldn't pass up. Now, we'll see who's up next at BD. Cupboard is loaded for a deep run into the state tournament. I would assume this will attract some big name applicants as well as those who served as assistants back to Dick Dullaghan's era.
