  1. Only three Ben Davis teams have averaged more points (42) than this year's Giants... 2017 (47.4) 1991 (46.5) 2001 (43.3) I think the Giants have executed well to this point with an excellent QB, too.
  2. Some PP Catholic schools are tied to specific parishes. Ritter, Roncalli, Chatard, Scecina for ex. are tied to parishes. Cathedral and Brebeuf Jesuit are not.
  3. It's 11 by my count. 1940, 1950, 1951, 1954, 1958, 1964, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 In addition, they were .500 in 1947, 1949 and 1953. So, all totaled up, the program had 11 winning and a total of 14 non-losing seasons between 1937 and 1983.
  4. I agree with much of this. Ben Davis had always been pretty good in basketball, but the football team largely struggled between 1937 and 1983. Bob Wilbur did a fine job at BD in the 70's, but the big jump came from the hiring of Dick Dullaghan. Coach D arrived on campus with a program that had a record of 155-265-12. When he retired, BD was 368-307-12. I attribute the biggest jump in hiring Coach D and Coach Kevin Vanderbush. Judge Dillon's deseg order bussed students from IPS into the townships, and that went into effect in 1981. Washington closed in 1995. For a real primer, you might pick up Steve Witty's book "I Remember When The Game Had No Class" because he covers it from the basketball side.
  5. At the risk of being corrected by Temptation, you are not correct.
  6. Giants 31-24 HSE 28-24 Center Grove 35-7
  7. Those LED lights are far more efficient and less costly over time.
  8. Flory seems like an amazing guy. I am really glad he landed at Kokomo. It seems like he is embraced by the community.
  9. As long a Ray Skillman keeps signing the checks, that part is taken. The field would be a great touch.
  10. My father was an assistant principal at Ripple from 1979-1997, Hank Easter.
  11. Is the BR for the Rockets?
  12. Are you like this at parties too? I said what I said. Sometimes you beat each other up. It can drain you at the end of the year. So, you bring in a college example. Cool. You win. Got me. Go spike a football in my crushed ego. Geez. 🤣 I could say the sky is blue, and you'd be like..."Is it though?"
  13. I said something. Should have known you'd pick it up.
  14. Sometimes the competition this is a reason you don't. Those teams do sharpen each other, but it can also be an issue when you beat each other up. There are no weeks off.
  15. After you posted, I logged in and saw the thread. I disagree with the premise. The HCC is the best high school conference in Indiana, top to bottom. If BD doesn't make that comeback, things look markedly different for the MIC.
  16. I'm not even active on Harrell. I haven't been active on Harrell's message boards since the advent of Twitter. I'm there as johnnystir. Besides, I would never post anything like that. That's not who I am.
  17. I'll pick Penn which probably means that Crown Point will win.
  18. Leave it to Temp to hijack a thread about Ben Davis and Cathedral to cry about his MIC agenda. I remember when temp was the bully and not the vic...
  19. You asked the question, I answered. --MIC Slappie
  20. Says the guy who keeps putting Carmel and Center Grove in all his MIC posts this year. --MIC Slappie
  21. I don't count either Carmel or Center Grove as MIC teams any longer. --MIC Slappie
  22. Lawrence North, Central or North Central would all be better sites than Howard Longshore Stadium.
  23. That 2011 game was notable because it went to OT. Coach Streiff went for the win, and the Giants stuffed them at the half yard line. I believe Antonio Allen made the initial hit.
  24. Sounds like the Irish put out the fire well.
  25. That would be WNDY TV 23 and heard on WNDE 1260 AM as well as ihsaatv.org.
