  1. The officiating may have been suspect, but that doesn't account for the fact that Brownsburg took Cathedral's posterior and handed it to them for most of the game. You get behind like that and every flag becomes magnified.
  2. Ben Davis is as solid in all three phases as I've seen them since 2017. That '17 team was head and shoulders above pretty much any Ben Davis team not coached by Dick Dullaghan, but I think you have the Giants correctly placed for now. If they keep playing like they did the first two weeks on the defensive side of the ball and the offense continues to gel with Thomas Gotkowski at QB, BD might be in the top 3. We'll see.
  3. I need to shut up. Impressive work by Brownsburg.
  4. Thomas Gotkowski on the QB run for a 1 yard TD. Giants up 44-13 in the 4th Quarter over Avon.
  5. Alijah Price again for BD with a long TD run. Giants lead 37-13 now over Avon.
  6. Giants appeared to be stopped by Avon on the opening drive, but a roughing the punter call keeps the drive alive. A couple plays later, Alijah Price scampers in from 41 yards out. Giants 22, Avon 13 with under 9 to play in the 3rd.
  7. Ben Davis 15-0 over Avon at the end of the 1st.
  8. Giants add a TD to the board. 15-0 over Avon 13 w/ seconds remaining in the 1st.
  9. Ben Davis has a really good defense this year, but there were a lot of mistakes by the Dogs on offense....ones that you wouldn't think a seasoned group would make. That said, they are 1-0. Pretty sure Brownsburg's TV program streams their games.
  10. Unless Brownsburg improves a lot week 1 to 2, I am picking the Irish by a couple TDs. Of course, I once picked the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl in the 90s.
  11. Not sure what playing football has to do with the fact that teams outside of Hamilton County haven't been within 12 points of the South Semi-State Champs since your Kingsmen's win in 2000 in the largest class. No, it's not all about Championships, but I believe the point was that 6A would be better if someone outside the Indy area was better. I never played high school football either, though. What do I know?
  12. I don't care if you're Bill Belichick. Temptation is spot on. 6A would be so much better if the threat from the North wasn't someone in Hamilton County. The North HAS NOT been competitive in State Championship games. It is sad, and I'm as MIC-Centric as anyone. I would love to see those old Ben Davis/Penn slobberknockers again that were decided by 7 points or less seemingly every time, but the last time Ben Davis and Penn played...well...I'll be kind. I respect the Kingsmen. I respect Snider and the other schools that BD has had battles with over the years.
  13. BD's defense is very stout though they did give a couple big plays, and that allowed Brownsburg to score. I can't imagine them giving up 41, but it's not unprecedented.
  14. Offense is REALLY young at Ben Davis. Other than the running backs, most of the key players are going to grow into their roles this year on offense. I just don't feel like the Giants are 23 points better than a Reynolds-led Avon team. Like I said, I hope so, though.
  15. I mean, I hope so, but I don't think there's any way that's right.
  16. That's fair. My apologies.
  17. And if I had hair and 100 less pounds, I could be a male model, but I'm not.
  18. Ben Davis looked pretty good on defense, and that's encouraging. I'm sure the offense will have some more growing pains as Gotkowski presumably steps in at QB. I thought the Giants and the Orioles both showed good resilience last week by getting down and then mounting charges. I would assume that there will be a big crowd out there to watch this one. Give me BD by 7...Giants 35-28. It seems like the Trojans are probably going to get beat sometime this year, but I don't think it will be this week. I would assume, much like Temptation, that this will be a low-scoring slobberknocker of a game. Last one standing is CG by a field goal. 13-10. Kudos to Warren for scheduling this one. Always love it when Indiana High School Football can show itself to an out-of-state opponent. I know Warren was disappointed in its offensive output last week. Seems like they have that stout D under Coach Tutsie. We'll see if Jimmy Graves side of the ball can respond. Give me Warren 24-21. I wasn't necessarily shocked by the outcome of the New Pal vs. Westfield game, but I was shocked by the margin. Coach Gilbert will get his team ready. Big opportunity here for LC and Coach Patterson's crew to get a big win. I don't know if they're ready just yet to take that step. Westfield recovers 28-14. Lawrence North shot like a racehorse out of the gate and then held on to beat Avon. I have no reason to believe they won't find a way to get by Whiteland. 28-17 I saw @temptationsay the heat was on Kevin O'Shea. While I think it's much too early to put the heat on a guy who just a couple of years ago brought the Panthers their first-ever MIC Championship in football, I would agree that the program's decline has to be concerning. The Panthers were quite lackluster against Fishers, and that was a shock...again...not that Fishers is good but how bad NC must have looked. HSE by 3 TDs. 28-7 Proud of Coach Brevard to get his team into OT with Zionsville. That win would have been huge in his first game at Pike. As it stands, he gets another opportunity against a quality Fishers team that really got hot out of the gate. Fishers by 10, but don't count out the Red Devils. 24-14
  19. When Merrillville wins 9 State Championships, come talk to Ben Davis about whiffing.
