This thread reinforces in my mind and should for all of you why the PPs are so good at football.

The uniformity and continuity of CYO football builds football players and position players from a very young age.  Very few public school districts can match the level of coaching and parental involvement CYO kids are getting by the time they reach junior high.

By the time thse kids reach high school, the football "acumen/IQ" of the CYO player is at a level significantly higher than that of the public school boy.

Freshman CYO boys are learning new schemes and techniques.

Public school kids are learning how to stand in a huddle and get in a 3 pt stance.

I can attest to this as a 7th grader ,At Village Woods ,playing St. Henry’s for the first time. Our schools were 3 blocks from each other. After the game I did know what hit us. Until I learn they had been playing since 5th grade. They all went to Luers after 8th grade.

I'd rather play pu than Iowa. Hawkeye have won six straight and hottest team in the conference.  IU got an excellent draw. They have played a very tough schedule already

I can agree to that, but never take the bucket game lightly. Strange things have happened over the years.

  3. Sounds like you’re pretty serious? But this is big time football. You have to win here. The Vikings, my favorite nick name, are still in it.
By the way, my junior high school was the Village Woods Vikings. Feeder in to NHHS. 7th 8 th and 9th grade. I was the star half back for the Vikings.

    Interesting perspective.

Would you also change the driving age to 18 and not start schooling at all until 18 so the individual can make their choice on that as an adult?

Not to hijack the thread, but keeping kids safe theme , I absolutely think driving privileges should start at 18 , all over the United States.  15 and 16 year old people are not ready for this responsibility.  The NUMBER ONE killer of teenage people.
Not even in the same breath of sports safety.

  5. Bob you have a very good memory. Or you saw it recently on film. I mean ,I was there and I remember the bands going at it. As a result ,every year after that there was no visiting team bands at the games. I know Pete and mr. Hoosier , or who ever was Indiana’s mascot at the time, got into it. But as a Freshman  I had a few beers before the game (I hope my dad doesn’t see this)I got my older sister, as a good brother should, a ticket to the game , she was a junior at Purdue. Believe it or not the bucket game was always sold out at Rossade or memorial.

But other than that my memory has faded. (Age-related)
I haven’t missed many IU home games from that year forward.

Pleaseeeeeeeeee tell me there is video somewhere if PP knocking himself silly and the one time at band camp brawl.

Their just might be something archived. Remember, this is ‘71, 8mm was the big thing and filming was illegal at the games. So if on film I’m certain the university has the good stuff under wraps. Also, very seldom if ever, was this great rivalry game ever on television.

A shame the game can’t be played. Notwithstanding bad teams, there have been some great games in this series. But I was an eyewitness to the greatest of them all: the 1971 38-31 Hoosier victory at Memorial Stadium. The game included Purdue Pete getting knocked cold with his own sledgehammer in the end zone, and the two marching bands brawling with one another on the field. A band fight! Nothing can ever top that!

John Ponts last game as Indiana’s coach, then bring in the Lee Corso era

    Hoosier are fortunate!!!!

Boilers were just hitting their stride.    Saved them them the embarrassment!!!

Trump will concede before they do. 🤣🤣🤣

    Nothing so far, hmmmm.....

And something so obvious. I’m positive that if the shoe was on the other foot , Indiana backers on here would be lined up to concede to a “P” on the chain.
    I guess I don’t get it.

  10. So no game, but I think all the PU backers on here would agree that it would be a W for indiana. So can you guys  1 by 1 concede here on the GID that indiana gets the “I” on the bucket?

  11. They can’t punish Indiana for their success, but they can’t penalize the “Nuts” for something out of their control. ( although Irishman brought up a good point with controlling the virus) so they have to logically save face here.

I know. Sorry. Just venting. It’s all just scummy. All of it. No ethics at all and so many wonder why most act the way they do.

Calm down! Lol  we all agree but will still come out of this with a lot of positive.

I am with you 100%.  Why have rules at all?  Make up crap as you go. Asinine. Scummy. All of it.

BIG effed their entire conference and this is what they get.

Mudda is right, but like I said the money talks!

Warren sophomore class went undefeated as freshman and didn’t lose a game out the district while in middle school

the current 8th graders the mic middle school championship was played by two warren middle school both didn’t lose to anybody out of district

So with that said, obviously this has nothing to do with the talent that might be there in the near future.  Greener pastures. Says something when the basketball coach and football coach both leave WC for the same school?

I have no doubt that it will end with osu getting their way. Just hope the Hoosiers remember this going forward.

The Hoosiers, if they win out here, have a date with a January 2 bowl game! Big money and recruiting bait. This is way more important to them as a program than what happens with OSU. Let the fun begin!

  16. But this is Hilarious! The two biggest powers in the Big Ten, one can’t win a game, and the other can’t play in the championship! Lol. The rude Ohio state fans and Big blue fans ain’t any better. Lol. What a hoot!

You couldn’t write a better scenario for me as the two teams I despise the most. Lol

Fun to see them woller in it, if only for a season. This will bring them down to what Purdue and Indiana have had to deal with for how long? Lol, This is real funny.
Next year I will  slap myself back into reality. Oh well funny while it lasted.
