  1. Central Catholic has a very good offense passing attack.  Field conditions of what I just watched in LaVille this past weekend, limits a passing efficiency of team like LCC, just slows everything down when you cannot stop on a dime on all that fun stuff.

Weather and Field Conditions play roles in playoffs.

  2. I think LCC overall is in better shape this year than Andrean for 2a Catholic schools are concerned, youth and roster turnover at Andrean vs loaded experienced team from last year successful team in LCC.   Just throwing some context out there from my seat.  Prior to the draw and even after the draw, felt like LCC was likely to get to Semi State vs Luers.  Just my neanderthal look at things

Because this is the first year Brian Hartline has ever held a title above position coach and if he really wants the Ohio State job down the road, getting some experience, especially in conference, probably isn't a terrible idea. And $4-4.5 million a year is a lot more than $1.6 million. His ability to recruit obviously makes him attractive, but if you're a bigger program, gambling on a 36 year old with very little play-calling duties is a decent risk. IU however couldn't get any worse. Now, it's very possible OSU has named him CIW internally and they won't let him leave, but I imagine Hartline at some point is going to want to take on a role where he has much more responsibility.

Could be CIW, I think my point is that IU is a D-List job, as you stated below with what you think of Shepard, Hartline would be more in line with above D-List jobs, in my humble opinion

I like Shepard but he's like the D-list version of Hartline. Has never held a title past Co-OC (which he didn't call the plays) and I think just lacks the experience to be thrown into a job like IU.

I think Shepard is mid tier candidate, for sure, Conf USA, Sun Belt, Bottom half P5 conference schools, places like Virginia, IU, Houston, etc.  As an IU fan, I get wanting to shoot for the moon when the job opens up again, just went thru that myself with my alma mater, reality is you hope you get it right with one of those up and comers and you get to keep them long term, its hard to do at mid to low tier football programs like Purdue (mid tier) and IU (Low Tier)

  4. Question I have:

Why would Brian Hartline decide to take his 1st HC job at IU, when he could be a candidate for much more attractive jobs.  He is making 1.6 Million as is, so its not for lack of $$ being paid, thats for sure.    He is very well regarded nationwide for his recruitment of top end and development of those top end WRs.  Don't see him saying, yes, lets go to IU for his first stint as a HC

Now, a guy that I think make sense, JaMarcus Shepard, FT Wayne own,  Has the personality and skill set to lead, has great knowledge of the state of Indiana, has been very successful at his 2 stops, PU and Washington.   It was rumored that if Purdue hired WKU HC (and not Walters) that he was going to head to WKU for his first HC opportunity.

Remember that night well. We dressed in the storage room where the band kept its instruments. As we were getting ready, some band kids walked in to pick up their stuff. I’m pretty sure most of them have completed the necessary psychotherapy by now.

    What a wild night !!

I have no love loss for West Coast teams either, and now that they are in B10 blah,  so I was nice to tune in late Saturday and saw the Domers doing work.  Makes me happy for my friends like @WolvesOnTheProwl

    Somebody has to do it.

    couldn't agree more

Are you disappointed in your choice to decline the GID offer of moderation from a few years back?   I can put in a good word for ya if you have a different notion this time around 🙂

P.S.   I have personally spoken with the esteemed sir, @Bobref MANY TIMES over live and in person, he was there when I almost lost my eye ball at Gary Wirt in 2009 (what a halloween party going in and around our locker room that night too btw) all the way to even last year when he got a delicious Bomber Sandwich at Twin Lakes H.S.  So, I am sure he will forgive my transgressions.

    FIXED

And for the record, Mr. Bob Ref has been open to the many PREVIOUS years of his existence and the MANY times he has signed his name, but yes, it was an oversight, appreciate you being involved in the GID oversight committee.   Cheers

The Chosen One is already turning heads under the Dome.

Notre Dame QB Tyler Buchner Showed Off His Immense Potential This Spring

Notre Dame freshman quarterback Tyler Buchner has been on campus for just five months, but he seems to have been part of the program for much longer than that. The hype around Buchner started over two years ago when he committed to Notre Dame on March 8, 2019.

Since that time Buchner had a monster junior season in which he threw for over 4,400 yards, rushed for over 1,600 yards and racked up over 80 combined touchdowns as a junior. That was followed by an odd decision to alter this throwing motion, his senior season was canceled due to Covid-19 and Buchner's star faded a bit according to the recruiting services.

That didn't tamper down expectations for Notre Dame fans, who still view Buchner as the future at quarterback. We finally got to see him in action this spring, and Buchner did nothing but raise expectations by flashing his immense potential and talent.

Buchner's throwing motion is still a bit of a work in progress, and it caused some inconsistency with his deep ball, but when his arm slot was good the first-year standout showed off the ability to power the ball down the field and make accurate intermediate throws.

Buchner didn't get much of a chance to show off his running ability in the Blue-Gold Game, but we did see a few flashes of it this spring. Considering how important that is to his game, it's encouraging to see Buchner perform so well without being able to use one of his best assets.

He still needs a lot of work from a grasp of the offense and decision-making standpoint, but Buchner had an outstanding first semester at quarterback for the Irish.

At the very least he performed well enough to put himself in position to earn a situational role in the fall.

  9. Just want to also state, Big fan of Coach May and his program, REALLY enjoy that version of their offense they run and absolutely root for them to break thru, hopefully this year, their community reminds me a lot of Rensselaer, blue collar, no nonsense and get after folks running the ball.   If they punch their ticket they will bring the ruckus in Lucas Oil.
