Hoosier Conference

I think moving to fewest points allowed was in theory to keep teams from running up scores if they knew tie breaker was point differential. Just one thought, But as stated, neither her nor there. -

Are seniors allowed to play JV
Coach Nowlin replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
We have a young man, who has never played orgainzied ball before, he is a SR, he started playing JV games this year for us, then got caught up to speed on the game and what we do, and worked is way onto our special teams and has filled in at times during Varsity games. I would reckon that without him playing JV at all, he would not have been able to make those strides to get ready for Friday nights. -
1. Not I Coach Shattuck energy was the perfect choice to take over the consolidated Elkhart teams, he was up there 1 year prior to the consolidation, has a very good young DC who was with him at Seymour and actually, Coach Shattuck was DC French's coach in HS in Michigan, so those two know each other very well and have taken the talent in that area and molded it thus far into a very competitve 6a team with some high end D1 kids to utilize For giggles; SiAC vs MIC h2h, why Siac over MIC ? GO.

I think that is the difference between 6a Center Grove and 2a Rensselaer -
Round 1 Set in Stone Andrean at Boone Grove (Valpo H.S.) Whiting at Hammond Noll Wheeler at North Newton Bowman at RCHS ROUND 2: Scenarios: Andrean and Whiting Wins: Andrean at Whiting round 2 Andrean and Noll wins: Noll at Andrean round 2 Boone Grove and Whiting Wins: Boone Grove at Whiting Boone Grove and Noll Wins: Boone Grove at Whiting Wheeler and RCHS Wins: RCHS at Wheeler NN and RCHS Wins: NN at RCHS Wheeler and Bowman Wins: Wheeler at Bowman NN and Bowman wins: NN at Bowman Sectional Finals: Scenarios: For Sake of answering your question and not going thru all the scenarios: Sectional Final HOST: Will be the team who has had the least amount of home games in round 1/2 combined: if both teams in the final have had same number of home and away games, the tie breaker goes to the team on the bottom of the bracket. For purpose of asking where would a potential RCHS Andrean game get to (NN and Wheeler are far improved than Wheeler last year, just see Lowell score and NN we were in a dogfight 1st half this year before gates broke in 3rd quarter) Andrean on Road round 1: If Whiting wins then Andrean on road again round 2, so 2 road games. RCHS host round 1 game: So doesn't matter where or who we play round 2, if we win, then we would have hosted a game , Andrean would not of, so they get the home game. Now if NOLL wins then Andrean would be host Noll and have 1 home game 1 road game. If Wheeler wins over NN, then RCHS would have 1 and 1 same as Andrean then we host Andrean. NOW: for fun: What happens if from now til Sectional Round 1 and a team has to shut down due to Covid.... Is that a No Contest? Is that a forfeit? Does the bracket stay the bracket with a no contest or with a forfeit? Haha, good luck figuring that one out!!! As you can suspect from my seat: Just need to take it 1 at a time and let the chips fall where they fall. But the best defense in Indiana right now is the Covid 19. If you make it through the entire tournament dodging and weaving that defense, then you will truly have earned your way, on top on the on field performance.

Hoosier Conference
Coach Nowlin replied to Sports Fan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
From my understanding; West Lafayette was fornatue to play BC, RCHS, TL, and LCC: So common opponent there: WL won all those games: Then it went to Points Allowed to WL. Sep. 11 Lafayette Central Catholic 1A © W 47 14 Sep. 18 at Rensselaer Central 2A © W 27 21 2OT Sep. 25 Benton Central 3A © W 65 6 Oct. 9 at Twin Lakes 3A © W 49 14 RCHS 27 LCC 47 TL 49 BC didn't matter score as they had zero wins in West, so was slotted to face NW EAST SIDE: HH, Tipton/ Western all finished 3-1 Using same metrix, Heights gave up less to Western and Tipton, hence they get the nod for conference championship crossover So between Tipton and Western: Maybe they used H2H, to put Western over Tipton for 2nd place, Maybe they used HH game where Western only gave up 19, even in loss, but Tipton gave up 21? I know there was a thought once 1st Place game was determined and last place game was figured out, there was a chance to just match up teams so there was not replaying of games, at least that is what a couple of other coaches in conference had shared with me over the weekend, but must not of came to frution. I know Coach Meeks said all week, he did not care, just tell us where and when and we will show up. So onto to Western, even for a 2nd time, still going to be a great opportunity for both teams. Heights: Sep. 18 Western 4A © W 19 18 OT Oct. 2 Tipton 2A © L 21 24 Tipton: Oct. 2 at Hamilton Heights 3A © W 24 21 Oct. 9 Western 4A © L 28 42 Western: Sep. 18 at Hamilton Heights 3A © L 18 19 OT Oct. 9 at Tipton 2A © W 42 28 -
Are seniors allowed to play JV
Coach Nowlin replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I believe you are off a year: I cannot tell you 1 time in 17 years I had a 13 year old as a Freshman. So lets say its 14/15 yr olds with 17/18, in my on field experience of 17 years, those 14/15 year olds are more physical and better football players than the aforeamentioned 17/18 crowd. So maybe we need to start protecting these 17/18 year olds.... Hard Pass EXACTLY!!! the voice of reason!! When has the sport of Football become a Cut Sport? Nowhere I know of in Indiana, or nationwide for that matter. Perhaps some schools in mega area's have to cap their team numbers, but I find that doubtful as well. Only cutting I know of is IHSAA state final teams who have to "cut" down to 75 which I think now is raised to 90 but not 100% on that for State Final game. -

Seems very FEARLESS of you there. to be a FLY on the wall ..... -
NN vs Wheeler by far the most exciting matchup in week 1. I will take my Bombers to make the finals. Take our shot at the 59ers. But I haven't picked against the Bombers in 17 years, this year will be no different. 😄

Are seniors allowed to play JV
Coach Nowlin replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
not even close to what kids feel They want to play, they do not care the level. They enjoy being part of a team, other amazing factors that go into this great game. We have had many seniors who are just great kids, but not very good football players, however, they have a blast, great teammates and play the game as hard as they can, even on JV. But sometimes with our roster, those SR allow us to get a 3rd game in for the week with our "C" team playrs. I know the person started the thread is more looking at it from huge school perspective. -
Being critical of your school?
Coach Nowlin replied to Whiting89's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
It is a shameful comment from the peanut gallery. Hence, my "disdain" for the lack of judgment when you decided to hit 'send' or "reply" Even in defeat, I am sure the Whiting Football community was thrilled to just have an opportunity to play, final score is distant at this point, especially for those Seniors who went 3 months thinking that their careers were over for H.S. and now you had what, 2 maybe 3 weeks to get it back up and running while other schoolos have been going uninteruppted for 2 full months. So, yes, you making a post of that nature was shameful from a supposed "supporter" of their alma mater, who without having to look it up probably couldn't tell you many facts about the current make up of the 2020 Oilers. But yes, come on here and post "whiting should of never started season" SMH Exacty -

I believe he is referring to his Playing day, followed by Coaching days, and currently his offiaciting days. -
You are what your record says you are 4-1 Sadly, I could still see a clasic good enough to be 9-7 or 10-6 or 8-8 and be the worst almost playoff team in America Though Defense played well, minus some missed tackles by Smith, it was nice to FINALLY see Mack dominate again. Helps having Quinn and Mario Edwards helping. Foles is old.... Both QBs seemed to be not good options, but hey, here we are GM PACE: I think ultimately, he will be judged by the Mitch debacle: not that he went with him, but the fact he traded up to do it 1 spot is the issue, however, he has done good other spots: Trading up for Mooney seems to be a good move, selecting Johnson from Utah also looks the part from this last draft class. Trading up for Anthony Miller, seems regrettable. Its all fickle as you know
