Am I allowed to be excited, hopeful, under anticipation for more good news after a 30 point win? or do I have to consider it was only the Browns we beat? this team has built up my hopes soooooooooooo many times, I just don't know whether to trust them or not.

I have seen on several threads a reference to a rule interpretation or clarification was basically being handed down by word of mouth. IHSAA to chair(?) to local official to chain gang to ballboy to game official. And nearly every time an official responds with “no one told me”. Doesn’t seem professional on the part of IHSAA. A systemic problem. That’s just from the outside looking in. Doesn’t the IHSAA have a data base of all authorized officials? Seems like it would be better to go directly from IHSAA to the official on the field. In order to have uniformity of rule application. Am I missing something?

I was surprised by how much we moved up in the Sagarin ratings off this one win. From low 20’s to 7th in our class. Must be because it’s so early on the season.

If there is one thing I have learned in my time of following GID and then joining the forum it is this: it is incredibly shortsighted of me, having never played football, coached football, or officiated football to sit in the stands or stand on the sideline during the game and believe that my opinion or perspective of any particular play is the correct and absolute opinion or perspective. As to officiating I would ask how do you expect another human being to make 100’s if not 1000’s of split second decisions during the course of a game and get every one of them right. If we take the low number of 100 and say they miss 5 calls during a game. That is still a 95% success rate. I doubt any of us can claim that success rate on our daily tasks, yet we expect it of semi-volunteer people just like us every week. I hope we never put the underpaid individuals, that offer their time and physical strength to make this game as fair as it is, on a podium so we can question every call that we didn’t like. That would be the ultimate insult a real slap in the face. Players play, Coaches coach, Officials officiate, and Fans cheer. I’m a fan!

I’ll ask, what good does ANY camera do, If you don’t know what to do with the information the camera captured? If you don’t know how to block and tackle, or how to teach someone to block and tackle. Then it is useless to have film proving we need to block and tackle better Just sayin...

So which game was the toughest to pick this week? For me it was the Salem/Silver Creek or Valley/Mitchell. Just think they are very close in talent. I finally went with the home team both games. @JQWL you messed some people up when you recused yourself from the game involving your team! 😂😂

I've heard the rumors as well, still think Salem has the depth to weather the storm and beat the Creek. Standing firm with my choices.

Hit submit too soon. Coach Nowlin has an excellent point the 6 quarter rule needs to be tweaked. Otherwise you may have no choice but to leave your starters in a game that they are dominating.

Never said running up the score is justified. I did infer that there is little difference in a fan being raw(never forget) about losing 96-0 and then that same school beating someone 61-0. Neither one is justifiable in my opinion. There are teams that clearly back off yet still overwhelm the competition. It happens. In my opinion the coach shouldn’t ask his players to fall down when touched instead of tackled, run 3 yards and stop, kneel down 3 times and punt, etc. i agr
