Best Program in Southern Part of State
SenatorFan replied to fenderbender's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Just wondering why you didn’t go ahead and count Regionals and Semi-States as well? -

Explain to me again ???
SenatorFan replied to jets's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Life ain't always fair! Why do we spend so much time every year having this same discussion? We are never all going to see it the same way. High School football, or any high school sports for that matter, was not meant to be a profit stream, was it? We probably can't even agree on that. Some think it is for entertainment purposes, bragging rights, teaching young men and women about working as a team and acheiving goals, etc. If it is to help prepare them for life and how to acheive goals and overcome obstacles, then lets make it as REAL LIFE as we can. Eliminate all classes in all sports and let there be one champion each year. Enough of this leveling the playing field and making it fair. When I wake up every morning I dont want or need the government or any other entity to help me succeed. I compete every single day against big companies, little individuals, and everyone in between. I have to scrape, dig, strive to compete and get better. At the end of the day there is only one person to blame if I fail and there is only one person to pat on the back if I succeed, me. That's life and it ain't fair, but the one that overcomes gets the prize. Now let's go enjoy some football just for the pure pleasure of seeing kids compete. -

Headed the wrong direction. 🤣

The only reason I’m not in first was the week the server went down and I missed submitting. 😂 Just making sure when I come from behind and pull out a victory the last week of the season no one can say, I didn’t play fair. 😇

Did you intend to not pick a winner for two games?

I know it is only a pre-season game that counts for nothing in the big picture, BUT I sure enjoy seeing the Cowboys lose. Can’t happen often enough! Jerry Jones quoted as saying, I would do ANYTHING to win another Super Bowl. On another note, Jimmy Johnson will be inducted (Yawn) in the Hall of Fame. Demeans the whole purpose of having a HOF. Remember him divorcing his wife and saying he hadn’t talked to his sons in years. When asked about it he said he had to remove every distraction in order to win a Super Bowl. Warped values. Just sayin’ BTW did I mention I love 1A high school football! For the love of the game!

State Breakdown Clarification
SenatorFan replied to SK197's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
SK197, Thank you for this wonderful live example of how ridiculous of a system we use here in Indiana. No we do not have the corner on ridiculous, as I’m sure your research will bear out. If you have difficulty explaining how simple it is, it ain’t simple. If you have to continuously tweak it, it ain’t working! This is what happens when humanity tries to make things “fair”. Fair is you line up and play the game and the best team wins. We spend a lot of time arguing about P/P bias, city speed, super-conferences, contraction, etc. Yet at the end of the day, we ALL love Indiana high school football. We spend all this time and effort to make things fair for a game children play (did I just sound like Muda? aaaagh). Then expect them to compete in a grown up world that is not fair. Momma used to say “Life is not fair, get used to it!” Daddy said “Get better or keep getting beat, your choice.” I trust you gained the info you needed for your presentation to your local association. If they are anything like the IHSAA, fair and common sense will be foreign to them. Thanks again for an eye opening inquiry. -
Good observation from the outside looking in. I would add that with Howard being part of the Fab Five, Michigan would have reason to hire a “babysitter” more so than IU. Especially in light of Woodson being an early recruit of the Knight era. I don’t mind the fancy title/extra layer as long as we win and win clean. Still have a very bad taste from the Sampson fiasco. As for the portal situation, which unfortunately I think is here to stay, hopefully between Woodson and Matta they can re-recruit these players to choose IU one more time. Believe it is too early for this call. Woodson was definitely not in my top five. Will give him the benefit of the doubt as long as he beats Purdue 2 out of 3, wins the B10 and/or competes for the title on a yearly basis, advances past the first round of the B10 tourney, gets us in the Big Dance every year, and makes a deep run every 2-3 years with a couple of Banners every decade. Other than that, no pressure. 😊 Believe we have to give him at least 5 years to put his stamp on the program. Don’t like the 3 year trigger finger we see in a lot of places.

During the last coaching search I jokingly told a friend of mine (Purdue Alum) that IU should just hire Doc Nash from Borden High School as the next coach. He reminded me of that conversation today and asked if I still wanted Doc Nash as the new coach. Got me to thinking if IU could only hire a current high school coach from within Indiana who would your choice be?
