Oh, there have already been significant consequences to his actions. He’s lost a ton of money. The real tip-off that he needs help is that he keeps doing stuff despite the consequences. But you’re right in the sense that his talent has undoubtedly given him a sense of entitlement, which is also part of the problem. But there are lots of entitled people who don’t work so hard to throw away a potential Hall of Fame career. He’s clearly special, i.e., not just entitled, but also a nut job.
  2. I’ve always thought Baldwin was a DWE, but his behavior in the aftermath of this is shameful.
  3. I confess I haven’t followed this story. Was the weapon a revolver? Was there only one round loaded? If there were multiple rounds, was this the only “live” one?

This guy has some serious issues. Stripped his equipment off, then ran off the field shirtless, waving to the fans.
  5. Agree 100%. Never play the “prevent” when the opponent also gets the ball first to start the second half. They got “Belichick’d,” i.e., score in the closing seconds of the 1st half, go in, make adjustments, and then score on the opening drive of the 2nd half. They had the game in hand. But I don’t care who the QB is or what he does. When you rush for < 50 yds. in the game, you don’t deserve to win.
  6. Go ahead. Get it off your chest. I can see some similarities … but also some important differences between the two situations.
  7. There went your credibility.
  8. There are likely different reasons for different people. But I think a common thread running through them is that if you want to play in the NFL, these schools are the best training grounds. But I would not discount the possibility that NIL is a factor as well.
  9. Just thinking how old this makes me feel … because I remember him well as a player.
  10. I saw no reason to second guess the covering official.
  11. On a play like this, the whistle is basically irrelevant. The ball is dead when the covering official determines, in his judgment, that the runner’s forward progress is stopped. Doesn’t matter when the whistle blew. Doesn’t matter when he started into the field of play. Doesn’t matter when he started to signal the clock to stop. All that matters is the location of the foremost point of the ball when he determines the runner’s forward progress was stopped. No. Play until the ball is dead. Then stop.
  12. That’s a big reason Oregon went to their mix & match 100 uniform combinations when Phil Knight dropped a bundle on them.
  13. It didn’t hurt that the game was in Nashville.
  14. The Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area had a 2019 population of just under 9.7 million. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_metropolitan_area By the way, you’re included in that number.

    Series

Watching both, and both are great. if you enjoy series where there’s not a single likable character in the whole cast and you root against everyone, try “Succession” on HBO.
  16. Remember him well. Terrific player.
  17. I’ve had all 3. What do you want to know? 😉
  18. I’m a ref and a lawyer, but I’m not a fool. I don’t argue with my “ode lady.” 😉
  19. No, but people’s sensibilities have changed. In the 70s and 80s, nobody put up a squawk at the prospects of traveling an hour to a game. Now it’s such an inconvenience that it’s unthinkable.
  20. I thought contraction was a “player safety” issue.
  21. To elaborate, UCLA’s obligations are no doubt spelled out in a lengthy contract … but that contract is not with “Wolfpack families.” It’s with the Bowl organizers. If anyone has a legal remedy against UCLA, it’s them,
